Steve Lathem is wrong about this wonderful guitar.
This is a great guitar. Finished beautifully, comfortable to play, and sounds great. However as someone else pointed out the Eastman E10Om is more appropriately compared to the Martin 000-28 as it has the exact same 24.9 scale length. The Martin Om has a 25.4 scale length. Aside from the scale lengths the Martin 000-28 and Om-28 are virtually identical.Steve Lathem's "review" is totally off the mark and it is unfortunate that he chose to confuse the issue with misinformation. The picture shows the guitar with a strap button that I installed in the heel. You should always play with a strap even while sitting.

E10om should be compared to om 28 Martin not 00028
Lots of people comparing this to a 000-28but it’s an om, higher tension ,different fret board length.

Perfect tone, clean look, and great feel!
I have owned this guitar for 4 years now. It is absolutely incredible. I live in the DFW area, and used to play at a church that had the John Mayer Martin, which I thought was the best thing I ever touched. Until I went to a small guitar shop and played this thing in the corner for 45 minutes. I love everything about it. I traded TWO guitars so I could get this guy. In my opinion, for what I use it for, it is the best guitar you can buy for under $5K. It has such a deep and rich tone. The unplugged sound of this thing is so dreamy! I use cleartone strings on it, and it just shimmers! Bright, yet still has a deep tone. I can't say enough about it. One of my favorite things about it is that the pick guard didn't already come on it. I chose to leave it off, and man it just looks so clean! It is nice and worn in from playing it for so long! I am amazed how well this stays in tune also, I capo a lot, and this thing stays true. Lastly, it is handmade in Beijing. This company has been making stringed instruments for a long long time! Since I used to live in China for a year, it has a special place in my heart. There are a lot of great guitars out there. If you are going to order a guitar, without playing it first, I would normally say shame on you ;) .... However, for this one you won't be sorry!

These are really great guitars that rival anything under 5K
I am a jazz and multi-style guitarist from the Ft.Worth area. Over my forty + years of playing, I've touched and owned a lot of guitars. This is one of the best guitars, for what it is, that I have every purchased. After a year and a half of owning this guy I'm still blown away. I traded away a '70 Martin 000-28 a few years back, and needed something to fill that niche. Well, let me tell you, this Eastman E10-OM beats the Martin in every category: tuning, playability, tone, and volume. The workmanship of all Eastman instruments (I own three) is marvelous. These aren't just "good for the money", they are damned good instruments. I spoke with the Eastman guitar rep at length and he wised me up to these babies. He shared the gospel of adirondack spruce and how all the glory Martins (from the 1930's) and the Gibson Loar mandolins used adirondack spruce. I was told that the volume this spruce produces is unparalleled. I am a believer. I have played many new Martin EC 000-28's, and this guitar, in my opinion is superior. Although the body here is made of mahogany, it thumps like it's rosewood. Of the Eastman flatops I've played, I've connected more with their mahogany body guitars. I paid about $800.00 for my Eastman E10-OM. That price is ridiculously low for an instrument of this caliber. A friend, who is an old, chiseled flatpicker put his hands on this guitar and declared it a "banjo killer".......that's a very good thing!

Wrong.
You are actually wrong about that. It should be compared to the Martin 000-28. It has exact same scale length.

FORGET "for the money"
I've played for over 40+ years and I have owned many fine instruments. This guitar has premium all-solid-woods, looks, build quality, and wonderfully vibrant sound FAR above it's price point. It resonates and projects VERY well; as well as any other OM I've played. If this guitar was made in the USA, it would cost $3000 or more. [I suggest that a buyer try Ernie Ball Aluminum Bronze Extra Light (11-52) strings.] FORGET "for the money" this guitar can go toe-to-toe with any other maker's instruments.

As good as it gets
I own three Eastmans, including the E10OM. Buy with confidence-these guitars are as good as the best Martin and Gibson have to offer. The E10OM is a balanced, powerful midsize guitar. It can do any style with aplomb.

As good as it gets...regardless of price..
I've had this guitar for a year now and I have to say it is maturing into a splendid axe.The neck has settled in so the tuning stability and balance of the sound today is amazing. As good as my Santa Cruz that cost 5K+
