Door T50 – Automatic Chicken Coop Door Opener, Battery Powered & Weatherproof Aluminum, Smart App & Timer Control, Predator Proof, Easy Install, Reliable All-Season Performance (Red)

Just installed but so far very happy with it. It didn’t quite fit our door so we bought some PVC board and narrowed the original opening. Installation was simple and seems very sturdy. You have to be fairly close to control the door function, but you can also set it and the internal memory holds the schedule.

WE (the chickens/roosters, my husband and I) LOVE these doors!!!! We have two now, one on the back of the coop and one on the covered front... we have them set to open 20 minutes before sunrise and close 20 minutes after sunset per our GPS because our chicken house is under a bunch of trees and positioned where the light sensors really would be ineffective (however we've never even tried it so it might work, we just keep it on the timer per GPS)... Both open inside runs so we can close the gates at night, open in the morning and the boys and girls will come out when they're ready. But when we're gone out of town, we no longer have to find someone to "take care of the kids" lol. We just leave the gates open and they come out when they're ready... it truly does feel like these doors have given us our lives back!! We can actually GO now... if you have livestock, you know what I mean by that and you're going to LOVE THESE!!! I will say however that the open/close timing seems to get earlier over time so what I do is just go out and reprogram it once every 3-4 months, no big deal, just needs to be done so no lagging girls get locked out while we're gone. Also, for the smart raccoons we have around here, my husband epoxied an inch long piece of plastic pvc pipe that is 1/2 round around the open/close override button... I can reach the button with my pinky finger but so far no raccoons have been able to (they would only one access to try when we're gone). They were Easy to install! Just Keep an eye on debris at the opening of the door, if there is debris blocking the close, it won't close, so keep debris away from the door as much as possible...

Love how quick and easy the install is. My birds took a day to figure out it wasn't going to eat them, but they are good now. The question that was driving me nuts. How to set it to times. Well, you have to be with it to set it the first time. In the morning you would go out at the time you want it to open (unless you want it to open with dawn...then leave it alone in the morning). You will press and hold the button and wait for it to turn green. When it turns green, you let go and hit the button one more time, it makes a different noise so you know it really got it. Now when you want it to close for the night (this is for when you dont want it to close at dusk, otherwise leave it alone to close around dusk) you hold thag button again. Here is the trick, you hold it until the red light pops up. You will see the green light first, just wait another couple of seconds and the red pops up, then let go of the button and hit it again for the different noise. This can be changed at any time. If you need to do a full reset of everything, take the battrries out and start over. If you watch each day, you will notice that 20 minutes before opening or closing there will be a blue light flashing. Not real sure if this is a warning for humans, but it does have the light. Overall, I love this! It makes life easier if I am going to be home late or have a late night and sleep in on a weekend morning for some reason! ***Update*** After the winter hit, I found only a few things to look out for, nothing that would change my mind about purchasing this product though! I live in Central Indiana and winter here isn't as bad as the more northern states. So, when it got icy outside, I would need to go out and make sure the door would open for the chickens as it would sometimes be stuck. Same with at night occasionally. I also found one night (I check on the birds no matter what) that the door didn't go all the way down. I am unsure if the rooster was jumping in while it was closing or if it was something else. I haven't seen it happen again, so it could have been a chicken or another animal that got scared and ran. This has still been a huge help and makes it far easier if I don't get up on time or early in the morning. I'm also not terrified that I could get home late and they will have been eaten. Still love it! Still Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!!!

Original review******* The performance of this door is rock solid. Very easy to install, and makes one less chicken chore for you to have in your busy day. The door won't hurt your chickens and unlike cheaper knock off clone doors, this is made of aluminum. Haven't tried the app yet but it's so easy, to setup and install the app will only make it an even better product. Very well engineered and packaged. I will be buying a second for my bigger secondary coop and run. You definitely get what you pay for! In this case, quality. *******Feb 19 update*** After several months, and use of heating lamps (safe rated and properly secured) the door has some issues, it is in fact reactive to flashlights, artificial motion lights, and absolutely will not program. I reached out to the customer service team and got a prompt email back basically stating things found in the manual and that GPS AND time program thru the App would disable the light sensor. One morning I found my chickens in the fenced pasture with a fox 🦊 nearby setting off my outer perimeter motion sensors from Wuloo I got here on Amazon. Fortunately only one was missing and ended up having to block up the door because it will randomly open if a chicken moves and allows the light sensor to become exposed to light. Now, the door,sensor mind you is on the outside, why even with it framed it is so sensitive idk, I’ve tried creating a awning behind it and relocating the door to the bottom of the coop. I’ve tried my Galaxy Fold 3, IPhone 13 and iPad, will not accept programming from the app even on brightness on 100 on any screen. A manual door at this point and a waste of time and money. Fortunately no one (chicken) has died yet and I eventually will purchase infrared heaters to hopefully mitigate this problem. I had high hopes.

This was really easy for my husband to assemble. He cut the wall to fit this door perfectly. It’s not heavy so it doesn’t create any pull on the wall. It connects to an app where you can adjust all settings. You can select to open at sunrise and close at sunset or select specific times. It is loud, but it keeps the chickens away from the door as it opens and closes. I’d say it’s a high quality purchase. The app also allows you to open and close on command if you are within range which is not very far. I would give it 5 stars if you could connect to the door from farther away.

This door is awesome! I bought it back in March of 2024 and it is going strong. It has worked without fail and without replacing the batteries once. It opens at dawn and loses at dusk everyday without intervention. I bought a solar operated door before this one and I could never get it to work properly. I gave in and bought this battery operated one hoping it wouldn’t need new batteries every month like I was excepting. I have not had to change the batteries once. This door works without so effectively. I was sitting outside this morning and heard it open like it does every morning and thought this product is so reliable I need to write a review so that other people will know. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this automatic door! After two years I can testify that it has to be the best one on the market 😊

Second purchase for a second coop! I love this thing. It only struggles when dirt builds up in the tracks, a flathead screwdriver works to scrape that. Occasional frost or extreme ice buildup will cause it to fail, but I have a manual backup chicken door in case that happens. This second one will be put inside the coop itself which will prevent the latter more often as my primary coop has installed completely exposed. I’ve replaced the batteries once, as is needed about once a year. A bit tricky, but nice so I don’t have to depend on a undependable solar option. Love the auto door opening feature, used the app multiple times now to change the opening with the earlier and later sun rises and sets. Size is perfect, even for my Buff Brahmas.

I waited 6 months to write a review of this Run-Chicken door. I can honestly say that this door has been an absolute life changer! We spend our summer weekends away from home and I no longer have to bother family members or neighbors to lock up our chickens at night. In Ohio we get our fair share of rain and snow. For that reason, I installed the door on the INSIDE of the coop to keep it out of the elements and {hopefully} prolong the life of the door. My coop has windows which I keep open in good weather, so even with the door mounted on the inside, it still senses the sunrise and sunset and goes up and down accordingly. (The door is factory programmed to go up at sunrise and down at sunset). This works PERFECT for mid-April through September where we live. However, once the weather turns cooler, and the coop windows are closed for the winter, the sensor understandably gets confused and will open/shut at odd times. But have no fear - there is a workaround for this! Knowing this sensor can also be programmed to go up and down at specific times, I read thru the instructions included with the door. The timer on this door is not like a “normal” timer - meaning you can’t numerically set the hour or minute that you want the coop to close (ie 8:00 pm). I tried following the instructions but they weren’t helpful to me. So I’m here to provide a few programming tips… Remember these tips are for those who need to program times other than the “dawn to dusk” factory settings. I will start by saying that it might take a few days to MANUALLY adjust the time and get it set to the right times. With that being said, IMO you should plan to be home, close to the coop for a few days until you get the programming kinks worked out. Don’t just assume you can install the door and leave for vacation the next day and everything will be fine. Eventually it will be, but probably not the first time you program it. So, here’s what you do….at the time you want the door to OPEN you must be near the coop. Press and hold the button on the bottom of the timer and wait for it to turn solid GREEN. When it turns green, let go and hit the button one more time. It makes a musical sound if programmed correctly (not just a beep). For the manual CLOSE once again - you must be near the coop. Press and hold the button until the RED light appears. When it turns solid RED, let go and hit the button one more time. It should make another musical sound if programmed correctly. **Remove the batteries from the timer if you wish to reset the programming. I did this numerous times until I was confident in my programming ability 😂 Another piece of advice…the best thing I did to figure out the programming was to put batteries in the black timer box, set it on my desk and play with the up/down button until I figured out exactly how to program. That way, you don’t have to keep unscrewing/removing the timer box from the door once it’s mounted in order to do a manual reset. You could actually do this for a few days before installing the door so that you know exactly how the timer works and how to program. For the reviews on here that mention poor battery life…this unit takes TWO (2) AA batteries which run about .65 cents a piece. If you cannot afford spending $1.30 for batteries every 6 months for something that protects your flock, then you probably shouldn’t be buying this Run-Chicken door. I have had the same batteries installed for 6 months. Just tested them last week and they are still fully charged…so I’m guessing I will get another 2-3 months in cold weather - that means I will get 9 months use out of mine. Honestly I wouldn’t mind paying $1.30 every month…that’s how much I love this door. What color of door is best? It’s really a personal preference. I bought the red door. Because of the bright, bold color, it is super easy to look out my back window and see that it is up or down. I wouldn’t be able to see it as easily if it was a neutral color (especially with it being mounted on the inside of the coop)…just my own personal preference. Great thing, you can install it and just forget about it and it will do what it's supposed to. And the app for it improves constantly. Only one time in winter the water that got in the notches of the door froze and it couldn't move so you should clean it from time to time.

I've had a window screen cat flap for many years and the cats have come and gone as they like. But in recent times housing development in my area has put pressure on wildlife and now we have coyotes wandering our subdivision streets at night and sometimes in the daytime (and turkeys). I lost 2 cats to these coyotes. I closed the cat flap and then looked for another way to control when the cats could go in and out. I did not buy the cat doors that require a microchip because feedback mentioned that those collar chips had to be in a perfect position to work and the door makes a noise that scares shy cats. The cost of those cat flaps was the same as this Chicken Run. The Chicken Run door was big enough that my window screen cat flap could flap in or out with this in place and there would be no need for microchips so I bought one to try. I installed it on the inside with a wood frame butted up against the window screen cat flap and it works perfectly. It opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at midnight. The sound of it opening is not scary to the cats; now, they can come and go as they like during the day. Also by closing at midnight, it prevents any raccoons from coming in the door as well - which hasn't been a problem. I do recommend this Chicken Run door. Note that it runs on 2 AA batteries which ARE INCLUDED. Set up is done on your cell phone - you download the free Chicken Run app from the App store and pair the device to your phone. Then you set the times you want or program it to open and close by the sun's light. It's easy to program. I am very happy with this device.
