Is the sealant paintable?

Yes, it is paintable. It says so on the directions.

What temps does this withstand? I'm thinking about using it on the metal chimney pipe for a wood stove (the portion of pipe external to the garage)

What us the lifespan of this sealant?

Titebond does not give a specific life span on this sealant. The product literature does say it remains permanently flexible and has a shelf life of 2 years in the tube in most cases.
