I'm concerned about the many reviews regarding the "rotting fish smell."  Are those "bad bottles," or is that the "normal smell"?

I suspect that people have confused the idea of "fishy" smell --one that is offensive to many people, particularly those who don't eat any of the common 'stronger' fish-- with "rotting". I've bought this and 2 other brands, and all the softgel capsule types are the same, probably produced by the same company.

They have a fishy smell that is not horrible (not as bad, for example, as the fresh seafood section of many grocery stores!) that you only notice when handling. I don't taste it, as I'm swallowing, not chewing the capsule. If you broke one open (which would be difficult, as the gel-caps are thick) it would probably smell very strong, but not rotten.

If you are very intolerant of any fishy odor, the higher priced brand (not sure we can name others here) used a traditionally shaped hard gelatin capsule that mostly blocks the fishy smell. I bought those for a couple years, and as they are more brittle, once in a while one is broken in the bottle, which then truly reeks.

This brand has become my brand-of-choice as I've had no concerns with it, and it is the best price I've seen. I've been taking 2 a day, regardless of the brand, for about 10 years, seeing this among my most important supplements and natural 'medicines'.
