I am finding I put in new batteries play about six songs and the batteries are dead? How long should the battries last.

I can't answer this because I never used the electronics. I bought the kit to build as a present for my father who writes lyrics for Broadway. I can guess, however, that you might be using batteries very close to their use-by date. If they expire in 2 years, buy new ones. Also check that you are actually buying fresh batteries - their expiration date should be at least ten years in the future. Finally, make sure you get good quality batteries such as Eveready or Durcell. The band of battery does matter. Hope this helps.

The distance between the two front legs is ~10", the outside of the two front legs would be ~11.5". Front to back is ~10.5". Hope this helps.
