Excellent Thermometer
Easy to use and does what it's supposed to. Setting it up with Wifi was a breeze as welll. I use this in my main attic to monitor temps up there. It was especially useful when the insulation was refreshed and I wanted to make sure the soffit vents were still working as before. Turns out the company wasn't as careful as they should've been around the corners and blocked several of the vents. This thermometer told me it was 5-10 degrees hotter, so I went up to investigate. The batteries last for-e-ver! I have it set to the 1 hour reporting time. All the temp/humidity data is there, it just updates the app once an hour. Big energy saver and the original batteries lasted over 2 years. If you need a faster refresh, just enable bluetooth on your phone and it will populate the app with up to the minute data. Govee products are all over my home and they haven't disappointed yet.

Govee Nailed it yet again. Perfection.
I absolutely adore my Govee Wi-Fi Thermometer Hygrometer! It's become an essential part of my smart home, especially living in a cold climate. I can finally ditch the worry about fluctuating temperatures indoors and outdoors, all thanks to the remote monitoring feature. No more coming home to a chilly house or wilting plants from surprise heat spikes! Setting alerts has been a game-changer too. Now, I get notified if anything falls outside the ideal range, so I can take action before any problems arise. It's like having a little environmental guardian angel in my home! The setup process was a breeze, even for someone not the most tech-savvy. The app is super user-friendly, and I was up and running in no time. Plus, the fact that it comes with multiple sensors allows me to keep an eye on different areas of my house simultaneously. Speaking of ease of use, I have to give a shoutout to Govee's amazing customer service. I had a minor question about setting up one of the sensors, and their team was incredibly helpful and responsive. They patiently walked me through the process and ensured everything was working smoothly. This kind of commitment to customer satisfaction truly goes a long way. And let's not forget the convenience factor! Living in a smart home, I can simply ask my Google Home Mini what the temperature is, and it relays the information straight from the Govee device. It also works with Alexa, offering flexibility for those with different smart home ecosystems. But wait, there's more! Govee's affordability extends beyond the Wi-Fi Thermometer Hygrometer. I'm a huge fan of their Govee Smart Plug 15A, WiFi Bluetooth Outlets too. I have them controlling lights and appliances all around my house. Setting up routines with Google and Alexa has been a game-changer. My favorite? Telling Google "I have to let the dog out" and having my outdoor lights turn on automatically for 10 minutes, then turn off โ perfect for those late-night walks! Overall, Govee makes quality products that they stand behind 100%, and so do I. Their commitment to affordability, user-friendliness, and customer service makes them a true winner in my book. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to add some smarts and convenience to their home!

Critical Failure (but fixed)
Update to original review below: Govee Technical Support says that it found the problem described below and pushed an update to all affected devices on August 21, 2021. Indeed, all four of my Govee devices are now functioning perfectly well. And the best part of it is that I had to do nothing... the problem just "corrected itself". I changed my rating from 1 star to 5 stars since the basic unit functionality is really very good. I am assuming that Govee did indeed really fix this issue and that in the future the units will not appear to have lost Wifi connectivity when they actually have not lost it. Thank you, Govee! Original Review: I have four of these Govee units running into two widely separated physical location. Each location uses Nest (by Google) WiFi routers. When it works, the Govee app reports the appropriate temperature and humidity data. However, sporadically, the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability and stop reporting all data. At that point, if the Govee unit is local to you, you can use the app to correct this situation. However, if the Govee unit is not accessible from your location, it is useless until it can be accessed via Bluetooth from the app. All four of my units have gotten to this state, so it is not a particular physical device that has the problem. I used the words "the Govee units report that they have lost WiFi connectability" intentionally, because I believe that they actually have NOT lost WiFi communications ability. I think that there is a software bug that is leading to them reporting that, and to stop displaying data, even though it is not true. The Nest WiFi system monitors usage of all devices. It maintains data on devices (such as phones) even after they have completely physically disconnected. If the same device subsequently logs onto the Nest WiFi system, the statistics go into the same bucket. The Govee device is very clever and (presumably to save battery) completely disconnects from WiFi when it is not reporting data. However, each device seems to have a unique ID beginning with "ESP" and thus its WiFi usage can be tracked by the Nest WiFi system despite its complete disconnection from WiFi.. Much to my surprise, all of my Govee devices that are marked in the Govee app as not having WiFi connectability, regularly connect and upload and download data (presumably to a Govee server). Furthermore, their upload and download byte counts are approximately the same when the Govee app shows them as connectable to WiFi and when it shows as not connectable to WiFi. This would seem to indicate that the Govee device sometimes CAN connect to WiFi even when the Govee app shows that it cannot. It would seem that some event occurs to make the Govee app flag the device as not-connectable and not report data even though the device is actually connecting and apparently reporting data to the Govee servers. Govee support seems to be really good if you are having routine setup issues. They are patient and walk you through what you need to do. However, in this case, they suggested that I have "someone" that was local to the Govee device download the Govee app, connect via Bluetooth, and reset the WiFi connection. This is obviously not a viable solution for remote monitoring. Since the Govee units go to this state regularly (it seems to take about three or four weeks), it makes them effectively unusable for long-term monitoring. Which, I think, is a pity, since the unit itself really works and makes a lot of "sense" for remote monitoring. I have entertained the idea that there is something nefarious going on here, since these devices are placed in people's property, and connect on a regular basis to the Govee server. But it seems to me that is really a software bug.

A great product for "Peace of Mind" when leaving your pet
After searching all the products on the market that monitor temperature and capture video of your fur babies while we are camping in our 5th wheel camper. I was not a fan of the huge price of subscriptions and not a fan of having to subscribe to a service in order for the product to work. We ultimately opted to purchase the Govee WiFi Temperature Sensor H5179 Smart Hygrometer Thermometer with App Notification and a separate camera system to watch our fur baby while we are away from our camper. Here are the pros and cons of the Govee WiFi Temperature Sensor. Pros: 1) The Govee works on a wi-fi network as opposed to Bluetooth only. Now some may argue that wi-fi is unreliable, however we are fortunate to have our wi-fi system built into our camper, so we do not have to use the guest wi-fi server provided by the campground. Yes, there is a potential of a power outage but if that happens, we are leaving the beach or wherever we are and heading back to the campground. We also do not boondock or camp in very remote locations, we the Govee WiFi Temperature Sensor works perfectly to monitor the temperature in the camper. 2) The Govee monitors both the humidity and the temperature. 3) You can set the ranges for temperature and humidity based on your preference. If the temperature goes above or below your ranges, it sends an alert to your phone. Alerts can cover via text message and/or e-mail. We do both as a precautionary measure. We also set the tone for Govee notifications specifically to that we know when it comes from the Govee and not a family, friend or regular text message. 3) The Govee comes with two (2) monitors. This was great since we use one (1) in the living area and one (1) in the bedroom area. 4) The Govee connects to both the Android and the iPhone phones via their app. The app works simultaneously, so if we are in two (2) separate locations we can both monitor the temps from our phones. 5) The app not only gives you a temperature reading in real time, but it also provides you with a history of temperature reading so if there are any โwonkyโ temperature readings, you can scroll back a couple of hours to see what the temperature readings were. This is helpful to trouble shoot any potential problems. Cons: 1) The temperature reading can sometimes be off by 1-2 degrees. There is a way you can calibrate the Govee to the exact temperature, but I still found it to be inaccurate even after the calibration. I know this because I purchased a digital thermometer that I have close to our camera system. With the inexpensive digital thermometer, I can zoom in on the digital temperature reading and I have noticed that there have been occasions where the Govee temperature reads 1-2 degrees +/- from the reading on the digital thermometer. This was frustrating at first, but for what we use it for 1-2 degrees is an acceptable deviance in temperature. We set the higher temperature range on the Govee at 73 degrees. In a scenario where the Govee displays a temperature reading of 72 or 75 degrees in the camper for a consistent period of time, we know there might be a problem, especially since we leave the air condition running when we are away from the camper. If we see a temperature range near or above the high range or near or below the low range, we are heading back to the campground. By purchasing the Govee to monitor the temperature and humidity combined with the separate camera system to watch what is going on inside the camper, as well as the inexpensive digital thermometer we saved a ton of money over the long run by not having to subscribe to an expensive subscription system. Overall, I rate the Govee WiFi Temperature Sensor four (4) stars due to the slight deviance in the temperature reading.

Great, but may benefit from calibration after setup.
Easy to set up and use. I did find that it was about 5% high on the humidity, but using a Boveda 75% rH calibration pack, it was easy to adjust in the app. There are other methods of calibrating using table salt, but the Boveda packs are easier. The temperature is within a degree +/- of a certified thermometer that I have for work. I use thin in my cigar humidor, but as Iโm writing this, Iโm about to buy a second for my woodworking shop. Awesome product for the price. Iโll update in a year to see if it maintains the calibration.

Convenient, accurate, and for someone like me, give peace of mind knowing temperatures at any time,
The Govee Smart Thermometer Hygrometer is a fantastic product for my uses. I was really concerned about our crawlspace freezing over the winter, so I purchased this to monitor it. To my surprise, we were never in danger of freezing up, so just for the fact that I never had to worry about that, I give the Govee top ratings. It's been on the same batteries for 6 months and is still going strong. It's convenient, the app is very nice, and it transmits well through our floors. I'd definitely buy it again.

Right gadget for the job
I was able to monitor the temperature of our house when we were away for the winter months. A good value and very portable. You just have to have internet connection. Installation is as easy as hanging it on the wall at the height of your choice.

TWO MAJOR FLAWS, please read
Shorter version: 1. Sensors do not go below -4F, and there is no way to disable to the minimum temp warnings. Therefore, if used in a freezer, you will frequently receive "freezer is under minimum temperature" warnings. You can calibrate it up a bit to remedy this, but Govee says their sensors are not MEANT for freezers, so don't expect any help if it fails you (which it will, see #2). 2. VERY IMPORTANT: It seems that the Govee will only alert you ONCE for an out-of-range temperature. If you happen to miss that alert, you are SOL. Even if you set it to check the temperature hourly, it will not keep alerting you unless the sensor returns to normal range first. It's a one and done. I consider this to be a MASSIVE software flaw. Furthermore, when you open the app, it clears all previous alerts from your notifications, so you can't even confirm when (or if) the alert came in. Long version: I bought these because we had a basement freezer that had the plug knocked out, and we didn't discover it for 5 days. I had very basic sensors, but they frequently ran out of battery. I wanted something I could track while we were away and kept a log so we knew if food was still safe when on vacation. This seemed to fit the bill, especially based on reviews. We had one in our chest freezer, one in our fridge, and one in the fridge's freezer. The chest freezer was frequently throwing "Chest freezer is under minimum temperature" warnings. I contacted Govee and asked if there was a way to disable the minimum warning and only let me know if it passed the maximum temperature. They said no, and also said that these sensors are NOT MEANT for use in such cold environments (notice that the description mentions things like greenhouses). It seemed like it was more of a battery life thing, but something to keep in mind. I found that if I calibrated the sensor a few degrees higher, it significantly reduced those warnings (though I still got them once or twice a day). I did become worried that I might not notice a legitimate warning b/c I got so used to ignoring the chest freezer warnings, but calibration did help (you can see where this is going). Cut to this past Tuesday, when we were getting the kids ready for school and realized most of the fridge freezer was thawed. I checked my sensor and it said it was around 32 degrees (which couldn't be right because again, so much stuff was thawed, but I admit that it could have been touching something that had stayed frozen). It also showed that it should have started alerting me at 4pm the day before when the 20F maximum had been reached. I tried to find my notification history, but there were none because I had opened the app. Apparently, once you do that, it clears all app notifications. Maybe this is an iPhone setting, but none of my other apps do that unless I open the app VIA the notification (which I rarely do for that reason). Turns out the compressor blew, so the entire fridge was failing. We bought bags of ice and did what we could, but I was still not receiving alerts even though the sensors were still out of range. I thought perhaps they were defective, because the chest freezer was still giving occasional alerts for being below -4F. What I eventually realized is that the sensors will only alert you ONCE to an out-of-range temperature. The reason I was getting so many chest freezer alerts is because the sensor would dip below -4F very briefly, then come back up a couple degrees. So each time it dipped, it was a new trigger. But if the temperature STAYS out of range, YOU WON'T RECEIVE MORE ALERTS. This does not seem to be a setting you can modify. And why did I miss the fridge freezer alert at 4pm on Tuesday? You guessed it! Because the chest freezer threw a "chest freezer is below minimum temperature" warning at the same time. The notifications were bundled and I didn't see it. Once the temperature went above 20F, that one warning was all I got and because I didn't notice it, I went another 16 hours being unaware that all my food was about to spoil. And again, once you open the app, those alerts are GONE, and it is the ONLY time it will alert you until the temperature returns back to the normal range. For these reasons, I cannot in any way recommend these products. I gave them 2 stars b/c the bluetooth was nice, the data tracking was nice, and the battery life seemed very good. But for what I paid, these are two basic features that should have been available and would have saved me a lot of headaches (and food).

Works perfectly
I bought this device for our barn which has a WIFI router. The temperature is measured in 10-60 min intervals, depending on your settings. An alarm is sent to your phone and/or email address if the temp is outside of your chosen parameters. All is easy to set up. When the device is near your phone, it connects via bluetooth as well. All parameters can be adjusted this way. Once it's out of reach and connected to WIFI only, some parameters cannot be changed anymore (alert thresholds, network settings, calibration) which threw me off at first. You will need bluetooth connection for that. One tip: to change the batteries, the lid can be pried open and must be completely removed. If you force it open thinking there are hinges like a door you may break it.
