I never used metric but its so much easier than standard. I feel that when using this metric tape measure I can measure much more precise without having to remember 19 fractions in my head. You only have to remeber 1 number...and thats it. I used it for the first time on a tile job and let me tell you I didnt have to measure 2x to make sure. With this tool you can measure very precisely! Precision is what separates pros from joes... dont take my word take the leap and you ll never want to use a standard tape measure again. Dont buy the smaller one buy the 10m model so you dont need a bigger one later.

Does everything a good tape measure should. I love the thicker blade. It's the reason this tape has lasted so long. The lock is beefy too and a bit harder to engage than other tapes. Having 2 extra meters is real nice too. The packaging on mine says it's made in the USA. I just wish it was easier to buy it here in the states. It's been through heavy use for about a year now and it looks like it could take a couple more. Highly recommend it.

I’ve been measuring, cutting and fitting things together almost all my life. Being 65, I remember when we in the states made a very feeble attempt to “metricize”. I, like virtually everyone here, resisted successfully. Stupidly. Now I supplement my retirement income doing high end custom tile installations. I use a lot of math laying out some fairly intricate details. Due to the inconsistencies of tile sizing, from manufacturer to manufacturer, and the everpresent issue of nominal versus actual sizes, I ended up doing a lot of fractional computation. All of my professional grade tile cutting/ snapping tools carry both imperial and metric measurement scales already. I am completely and very happily done with the former. My only complaint with this tape is that I could not find one of only 5m, as most of the installations I do do not require the use of a heavy 10m device. If you are even considering this measuring tool do yourself a favor and take the leap to metric.

measuring in millimeters is so much easier than dealing with fractions. An inch / metric combo is okay except for the time when you need the register marks to span the entire width of the tape blade. This had to be shipped from the UK and was not eligible for Prime shipping, but it’s a keeper as my new default tape.

I'm definitely no proponent for using the metric system in the United States. However, when it comes to construction and other homeowners' projects, metrics can't be beaten when it comes to measuring and dividing measurements. I purchased this metric tape measure for my carpenter and he's loved it because it's made many things related to measurement easier. For some reason, I didn't buy one for myself as the same time I bought the one for my carpenter, but it's in my cart, ready to purchase. I'd highly recommend that anyone interested in making measuring and dividing measurements easier, buy one of these high-quality tape measures.

Only tape measures I buy. Needed metric in the states. Couldn't even order it through the Stanley rep here. This UK seller got it to me quickly, especially considering customs. Great accurate measuring tool for something this long.

Product Review: 4/5 (Class 2 tape measure, repeatable accuracy of ±2.3mm at 10m) The spring tension of the tape is very consistent and smooth and is able to pull to the full 10m and a bit passed, don’t fully extend the tape to the max limit yourself, you’ll damage or break the spring. Looks the same as the 3rd image with numbers 33-811 under the large 10m. Product is made in Thailand and a 2017 product. Locking mechanic doesn’t really work for the first 8cm due to the blade armor. Forcing the locking mechanic with a good amount of pressure will indent the blade armor and if forced to fully lock will probably cause some damage. Passed the blade armor the locking mechanism works very easily. All measurement lines are solid with no issues. However, some numbers seem to have a paint issue as the black numbers have tiny livers of paint missing. Not a problem viewing far way, but up close noticeable. Every 10cm numbering is red and has more a noticeable paint defect and is on each 10cm increment, probably. I stopped counting at 360cm. Stanley must be reusing an inch plastic die mold for this metric tape measure case as there is a 3-1/2” labeling for the body length under the belt clip. Also, the tape can stand out 3.3m. (I’ll nit pick a little here) The mold they used for the thumb lock looks like rough sand mold but is still very slippery if your hand isn’t positioned properly. I’ve used a Staley power lock tape measurer with a duel system tape(5m/16’) for about 3 years now, so I noticed the paint defects. But I’ll live with it considering Stanley doesn’t sell a metric only tape measurer here in the United States. I wish I could get the German 10m tape measurer. Sadly, I can’t on amazon US. I use metric measurements daily at work so I’m hoping this will bridge the mental gap for me with mentally visualizing how big something is. Normally I convert to Inches. International Packaging: 1/5 stars -PACKAGE SIZE (291mm x 166mm x 59mm)- This packaging has seen better days considering how smushed it was. The packaging is made of 3 pieces of a 3 layered cardboard that is glued in place. Put the product in with scrunched up paper the size of a fist, fold the sides over the product and paper, wrap the remaining over the top of that and set the adhesive under the product. I'm surprised it didn't fall out the sides considering it just needs to land with enough force to push a side out.
