"Product information" states dimensions are 7.5 x 6 x 6 inches but in the description it states this is only "approximately 6" tall. Which is it?

Those are the dimensions of the box. Take away the styrofoam to get to approx. 6 inches. I've already wrapped it or I'd give you better dimensions.

Does the whole globe rotate around when wound up?

No only the glass bulb portion. I have a full collection of these & in most cases only the top glass part rotates. Hope this helps

Made in USA, but international shipping? which is it?

I'm sure that they are being shipped from the states. You can buy straight from the company and they ship straight to you. I chose to buy online this year just to get more reliable shipping.
