The Hobbit Sketchbook: Over 100 pencil drawings and paintings unveil Alan Lee's Oscar-winning vision of Bilbo Baggins's Middle-earth

Beautiful sketches and lore

I already had Alan Lee's Scrapbook for LOTR and finally got this one for the Hobbit. As someone who likes to doodle, I love to look at Lee's artwork and just imagine what it must be to not only be able to draw like that but to think like that! Beautifully rendered and the volume came to me in great shape.

Gift for a LOTR lover - she loves it!

If you liked Alan Lee's The Lord of the Rings sketchbook, you'll like this one. The quality of the physical book & design remains the same (top notch!). He has the same thoughtful commentary throughout - background on what inspired various concepts as well as revelations about his own methods (specific paint colors he favors, etc). There is plenty of art to feast the eyes on - I consider Mr Lee to be one of the greatest living illustrators and this book only serves to solidify that view.

Excitedly added to my Tolkien book collection! I love the quality, the art, all of it.

Fast delivery and works great.

So many beautiful illustration and fascinating scenaries.

Beautiful sketches, such interesting details of how Alan Lee drew so many characters and settings to incorporate into the films. LOVE this book.

My dad has always been a big fan of Tolkien’s work and I bought this for him for Christmas, he loves it!
