Pro Cyc Virtual Green Chroma Key Paint for Green Screens, 2 Gallons

This review is for the green screen paint (see my separate review for primer). My green screen studio is 15’ x 15’ and ten feet high. I purchased one 2-gallon bucket of primer and a total of 4 gallons of paint and ended up with about a quarter bucket of each left over. I have used other green screen paint before and the main problem I’ve had is getting even coverage without visible streaks in less than 3 coats (this stuff is expensive so the fewer coats the better!). The company claims that this paint and primer covers well with one coat of primer and two coats of paint so I decided to find out for myself. Turns out they are right. This is the best green screen paint I have used. The carton states that it can be used “With or Without Pro Cyc’s Virtual Green Pro Matte Flooring” so I’m guessing that the color was created to match that but I painted my floor so I can’t attest to that, but I can attest to the quality of both the paint and primer and they are excellent. The final color is very smooth and bright and I have already received many compliments on my green screen. I will definitely use the Pro Cyc paint again.

We ordered several gallons of this very specialized paint and one of the 2 gallon containers arrived damaged on the bottom and leaked significantly. Fortunately the bucket was packed inside a plastic bag, so some of the paint was salvageble. Still made for a very messy operation.

So... after shelling out an astronomical amount for this special paint AND an almost equally ungodly amount on the special Pro Cyc primer, I thought this stuff would do the job... Well... it didn't. I believe I would have had an easier time using another paint and achieved equal -- or perhaps even better -- results. I had to paint three coats to finally get the color even. Then, when I removed the masking tape around the wall, the paint started to peel off the wall in chunks with the tape! It stuck to the tape better than its sticking to the wall!
