Stonemaier Games: Wingspan Oceania Expansion by Elizabeth Hargrave

We already love Wingspan, and the Oceania Expansion makes the game even more fun! The new birds and added elements bring more variety and keep the game feeling fresh without changing what we already enjoy about it. It’s a great addition if you play Wingspan regularly and want to mix things up!

We received Oceanic Explansion as a belated gift a few weeks after receiving the base game. I was almost disappointed to no longer use the beautiful original mats and dice, but the expansion is wonderful. I love the additional birds and eggs, the nectar token system, all the additional goals and bonuses, and especially the end-of-game power moves. The new items and rules fit in nearly seamlessly, although we’ve made a few in-house rule modifications to suit younger players, such as counting each nectar token as a point each, rather than first and second place per habitat (rather like blue vs green side of end-of-round goal card). We’ve also found it easy to incorporate the original mats with an additional nectar rule, for younger players or if you have more than 5 who want to play. OE Automa mode is a little more involved but just as engaging as the base game, however a solo game against yourself with two mats is just as fun. My only complaints are the size of the new rule books is slightly smaller than the base game, and my OE cards are a fraction off in size compared to base deck so the edges of the two decks combined don’t line up perfectly but this may not be the case for every deck and only affects the feel while shuffling.

Such a great add-on to the original game. New boards, new cards, a new "food".

My Wife and I adore this game, which we have affectionately taken to calling BIRDGAME! This wonderful game is a machine building game in which you must build your highest scoring world of birds. Birds give you different abilities and functions based on the actual actions the birds do in real life! Score the highest point values and you win the game! The fantastic thing is that while you are technically playing against other players you are essentially playing the game however you feel is best. Want to make some cool moves? Go for it, sometimes that feels as exhilarating as winning the actual game! I was so excited when I saw there were more expansions, to this already wonderful game that I knew I had to surprise my wife with buying all of them all. We love this game because it is one of those very large games that you can play with two player and with friends. The great thing about the gift of a card/board game is that I get to enjoy it too! We love the way this expansion introduces new bird powers as well as a host of new bird visual looks plus it adds some new colors to eggs and player cubes. If you already love wingspan, you will love incorporating some new strategies with these birds as you continue to play such a fantastic game!

This ups the game w/a new (flexible application!) food source, along w/new boards to reflect that - and of course, more birds! The base and heart of the game remain the same, while "nectar" brings a new dimension that veteran Wingspanners will definitely enjoy!

Some might disagree, but there is no better modern board game than wingspan to introduce to newcomers to boardgames. Friends, family, young or old, wingspan is a game that makes it easy to bring everyone together and spend some excellent quality time. This second expansion only makes Wingspan even a better game without complicating it. It has taken all the feedback from the customers and have implemented new mechanics to add even more variety into the game, providing many more potential strategies that somewhat lacked in the base game (after lots of games). For those who already are familiar with it, it's easy to implement and while a tad more learning cure for the newcomers, it's still doable with a few more minutes of teaching. Overall this expansion shows care, understanding for the customers wants, and additional hundreds of hours of entertainment. A must have in any serious boardgames collection. A 10/10

This expansion is a terrific addition to the series. Nectar is a new dimension, and one that works well. We play with all the cards from the 1st three, so it does make it challenging to get the right cards sometimes. Love it.

This is an excellent expansion. Delayed in getting it but the nectar really opens the game up so an essential expansion to get.

This is the actual game imported from abroad. I was happy to find it in Egypt.
