If you walk for exercise, GET THESE POLES!!
Using these polls lets you engage your arms and shoulders while you walk. At first, you think, “this doesn’t seem to require any effort.” The NEXT DAY, you realize, “OMG! My arms, shoulders, and upper back REALLY feel it!” Nordic walking is super low strain but remarkably functional exercise. On one hand, you are “just walking.” But now you are walking with both your lower body and your upper body. Here are a few tips: 1. Keep the straps reasonably tight but comfortable. This helps you maintain smooth arm motion, like walking, without “picking up” or “carrying” the sticks as you swing your arm forward each step. 2. Watch the video! Once you see someone doing it, you get a clear idea of the method. It will also make height adjustment intuitive. 3. You MUST twist each segment to tighten each joint. MUST, MUST, MUST. Otherwise, the joints will be loose and wobbly. Some reviewers complain about wobbly joints. This ONLY happens when you forget to twist each joint until it is tight. How do you know it’s tight? You should not be able to pull a joint apart without untwisting it first. 4. These are NOT “hiking” polls. For that, you need Trekking Poles, not Nordic Walking polls. Each type is great for its purpose, but Hiking/trekking poles are fundamentally different from Walking poles. We do both, and have both kinds. 5. Keep the contact info for the company: their customer support is awesome. Once again, some reviewers who have complained seem to have run into issues that Customer Support would have straightened out in two seconds. ***** Five stars for quality. ***** Five stars for customer care.

fabulous workout!
I LOVE these poles. I bought them for an upcoming trip to Italy because I am worried about the stairs etc on the Amalfi Coast. I am now using them every afternoon for my walk - they are AWESOME. I love walking up hills and had no idea how much stress you put on your knees etc when doing so - with the poles your arms really work and I find myself powering up hills I normally trudge up. I am 5'2" tall and these poles, at the very top line, are the perfect height. I love the wrist grips and the cork handles. My only issue is that the little feet come off - I am going to work out why and fix it!

good for Nordic Walking but there is room for improvement.
I got these to start Nordic Walking. The gloves and connection to the grip work great so the basic walking form is good. While I like the poles but there are a few things to note. Be sure to verify the size you need as the adjustment is limited in each size. The size I ordered barely fit. The poles seem to rattle a little bit. The pieces do not snugly fit together. Lastly the walking foot split at it's neck after a couple walks so it continuously fell off. I've ordered replacement feet.

Poor Quality Control
The poles are fine. Good grip, the wrist straps are of good quality. They have a nice look. One problem, one of the poles came out of the box with the end broken off. It wasn't attached to the rest of the pole. It's no biggie; a simple pinch with the pliers solved the problem just fine. Still, it speaks volumes about the quality control at YorkNoric. I expected more for 70 bucks.

Compact Nordic poles but sections do not stay tight
I really wanted these foldable York Nordic poles to work despite other reviews that the sections may not stay tight. I returned the first pair as the bottom section on one pole did not tighten completely and it would not stay tight. With that pair after less than a minute of walking I had to stop and re-tighten or the boot would be in the wrong direction. I ordered a replacement set and this second pair seemed to fully tighten, but once again after a couple of minutes the boot on one of the poles would twist. With the second pair it was the middle section on one pole that would not stay tight. I tried a couple of times over multiple days to hand tighten the poles and even used a grippy glove, but that middle section on one pole continued to loosen after a few minutes. I looked at the internal tightening mechanism and it is likely that an adjustment of the plastic expanding insert would keep the sections locked. As others have indicated this problem of sections that will not stay locked is likely a quality control issue, particularly as one pole in each of my two orders stayed locked. I tried to call the company but could not get through to a live person and I did not want to spend more time sending text messages or e-mails to see if there is a permanent fix for the problem. I decided that it was not worth investing any more time in a product that seems to have a fundamental problem. Some people seem to be satisfied with these poles but if I can't trust the sections to stay tight or I have to spend too much time fiddling with the adjustment, they are not the travel poles for me. If you order these poles put them together as soon as you get them and try indoors to make sure that the sections will lock appropriately.

Perfect!
After some internet research, I decided to up my 10,000 steps a day to include Nordic walking poles and decided on the folding poles from York. I’m really enjoying them. Although I don’t fold them every day, I like the idea that I can easily take them with me wherever I go. I’m 5’6” and the short poles fit very well with enough room for adjustment. The poles encourage better posture and longer stride length. Adding the arm movement very noticeably increases intensity and and feels great. I can also add to the chorus of praise for York, and Lauren’s, custom service. I had a very small issue that was instantly and professionally resolved. I’ve been walking about five miles a day for the week I’ve had them, with no noticeable wear to the rubber feet. I think they will last a good long time. I love my poles and look forward to many years of use.

Quality Control is non existent - take a pass
First, I received two right hand poles (the gloves are hand specific). Sent one back. They replaced it. Then, after trying for months to make these work right, I gave up. The left pole, the one they replaced, has a faulty section at the end joint. It will not stay tightened. I’ve tried everything, repeatedly but about every hundred feet or so, I look down and the foot on that pole is spun around and the whole lower section is unscrewed. The pole doesn’t work right if the feet on them aren’t tight. Today, I was so annoyed with having to stop and retighten, that I threw them in the trash can. Should have returned them when I still could. Tomorrow is trash pick up day, good riddance. Spend a little more and get better poles. That’s what I am going to do.

Great Customer Service and I love my new Nordic Walking Poles!
Saw an article in AARP magazine about the benefits of Nordic Walking and thought I'd give them a try. I ordered the offered shorter poles for people 5'4' and under, but I was unable to figure out how to adjust them appropriately for my 4'11" height. I was disappointed because I had really wanted to give Nordic Walking a try. As an older woman who needs to lose 20 pounds, I wanted something that would burn calories but not be so vigorous that I would have to give up quickly from pain or exhaustion. I have never written to a company before, but because I was convinced this exercise would be something I could comfortably do and still lose weight, I took a gamble and wrote to Lauren, the owner of the company. I sent her a picture of the poles in what I thought was the lowest position, asking if I had adjusted them correctly. She put me in touch with Matthew, the Director of Customer Service. Apparently the update of the Nordic Walking poles had a longer lower portion, preventing them from lowering enough for someone my height. He stated he would send me the lower section of the poles that were from the previous edition of Nordic Walking poles, and would include a prepaid mailer to send the too-long pole sections back. The lower sections came quickly and were easily installed. I love these things! It took me a few days to be able to coordinate the walking and poles in the Nordic style of walking, but now that I've got it down, I'm really enjoying the experience. I can feel the work out in my arms as I push off with the poles, and my heart rate has definitely increased with the addition of the poles to my normal 5-mile walk. I'm anxiously waiting for concrete evidence of my efforts, but I have been using them for less than a week. In the meantime, I'll just enjoying walking with them and getting more fit. Just as an aside, both Lauren and Matthew were highly encouraging as far as my starting on this walking adventure/exercise regime. It was a very nice and personal touch to their service. If you're thinking about buying these poles, I'd say go for it. They're easy to adjust and use, they're sturdy, fold easily for convenience, and are very reasonably priced. The company is great to work with if you need to get in touch with them. I'm very glad I bought these particular poles!

Nordic poles
Strong , Easy to fold & light to carry

They are short
Good quality, but extremely uncomfortable for Nordic walking. Short for people more than 140 sm. And rubber “boots” can’t be fixed in one position. I am very disappointed.

Easy to set up , vastly improved their balance confidence.
Set them up for clients and they love them.

Llegó incompleto el pedido
El producto es de muy buena calidad. Desafortunadamente en el paquete sólo llegó una punta de hule en lugar de dos para cada uno de los bastones!!

Not short enough
I am using the poles even thought they are a little too long for me. I am 5'2" and they adjust for taller but not shorter. They would be perfect if they were two inches shorter. But I like the way they fold. I can stick them in my purse if I need to or my shopping cart.
