Comparison of four brands of this shirt
This is just what I was looking for – a T-shirt for hot, sunny days. I wanted it long-sleeved and white, to block and reflect as much sunlight as possible. Since the Amazon descriptions and reviews cannot reveal everything about a shirt, I ended up buying four different brands in August of 2016. Here is a comparison of those four shirts, showing the brand, size, weight, price, source and country of manufacture: Champion Double Dry (men’s “small”); 148 grams; $13.04; from NY Lingerie; made in El Salvador. Hanes (men’s “small”); 141 grams; $9.10; from NY Lingerie; made in El Salvador. Dri-Equip (“regular small”); 148 grams; $13.95; from Joe’s USA (shipped in Amazon box); made in China. Sport-Tek (men’s “medium”); 163 grams; $8.21; from GotApparel; made in China. I obtained the “free shipping” option for each shirt, so the above prices are totals paid for each. The Champion and Hanes shirts arrived in 6 days, the Dri-Equip and Sport-Tek in 8 days. All of the shirts were measured before laundering while lying flat and relaxed on a table. After machine laundering with detergent, and tumbling dry with low heat (which left them wrinkle-free), the measurements were virtually unchanged (no shrinkage was evident). Since the size charts on the Amazon site are not particularly informative, here are some actual dimensions of these shirts while lying flat: (Keep in mind that all of the shirt sizes are “small” except for the Sport-Tek, which is “medium”) Torso length: All 27-28” (except Sport-Tek, which is a little over 29”) Torso width at top seam (between sleeve seams): All 16.5-16.75” (except Sport-Tek, which is 18.5”) Torso width at bottom: Hanes 17.5”, Champion 18.25”, Dri-Equip 19”, Sport-Tek 20.75” Sleeve length (upper side): All 24.5-25.75” Sleeve length (lower side): All 18-20” Wrist width: Hanes and Dri-Equip 3.75”, Champion and Sport-Tek 4.5” Neck hole: Champion, Hanes, Dri-Equip and Sport-Tek gradually increase from 8.25” to 8.75”, respectively (note that this is not the diameter of the hole, but half the circumference, since it is flattened; the diameters of the circular holes are thus twice these values divided by pi, or about 5.25-5.57”). For my slim 5’11” frame, the “small” shirts fit well, and the “medium” shirt seems a little big. All have sleeves and torsos that are sufficiently long. I am happy that none of the sleeves stop short of my hands. All seem a little larger than their stated sizes. All are silky and drape well. All four shirts appear to be made of identical fabric, based on the weave pattern that is visible under a microscope. All are equivalently sheer (not see-through, but when placed tightly against a striped surface, for example, the stripes are visible). The Champion shirt is not quite as brilliantly white as the other three, but close. All four shirts appear to be constructed identically, with impeccable assembly and stitching. Only one shirt has visible markings on the outside: The Champion name at the back of the neck and logo on the sleeve. All four shirts claim to be moisture-wicking. I have not had a chance to fully compare the sweat-wicking or cooling action of these shirts. Such a test would anyway be difficult to do objectively. But I did perform a water wicking test by observing droplets of tap water applied to several places on each shirt (after the shirts had been laundered together without fabric softener, and then tumbled dry), and clear differences emerged. Here they are ranked in order of how fast the water droplet absorbed into the fabric and how extensively it spread outward (how far the water wicked): Champion > Sport-Tek >> Dri-Equip > Hanes (the first two were significantly more wicking than the second two). If sweat behaves in the same way, than the first two may have an edge in how fast they disperse and evaporate water. In conclusion, the main differences between these shirts seem to be in price and wicking ability. I don’t yet have a favorite, and I consider all of them to be good values – especially considering the remarkable technical and technological achievements that were necessary for their manufacture.

Great sun shirt at a great price. Essentially identical to Hanes Cool Dri.
Down here in South Florida, long-sleeved sun protection is a must. Technical outdoor shirts are really expensive, but years ago I discovered that Hanes Cool Dri shirts work just as well for a fraction of the price, and they've been my go-to shirts ever since. The shirts never wear out, stains come out easily, and they're super comfortable and cool. I recently had to replace a couple of those shirts, so I decided to try these Champion Double-Dry shirts to see how they compare. Bottom line is that these Champion shirts are virtually identical to Hanes Cool Dri, which isn't surprising since Champion is a sub-brand of Hanes and both shirts are made in Guatemala, probably on the same lines. So the differences I noticed are probably just minor year-to-year changes in the specs. - Both Hanes Cool Dri and Champion Double-Dry are made out of what appears to me to be identical fabric. It's a silky smooth, tight weave synthetic fabric that feels good against the skin and wicks well. My Hanes shirts provide superb sun protection, so I expect the Champion to do the same given that the fabric seems identical. - Both shirts are about the same price (prices bounce around daily on Amazon), and both are a bargain compared to technical outdoor gear. Given that what I need is just sun protection while walking the beach and kayaking, not survival gear, these shirts are perfect. I can buy 4-5 of them for the cost of one technical shirt from an outdoor specialty store. - The Champion shirt has flat lock stitching around the arm holes. This means an extra row of stitching is visible on the outside, but has the benefit of a flatter seam on the inside. I haven't had a problem with chafing with the Hanes shirts, but the flat seams on the Champion win. Maybe the current vintage of Hanes shirts has switched to the same stitching (my Hanes shirts are a couple of years old). - The Champion has a logo visible on the back. Hanes doesn't have external branding. So Hanes wins on this score in my book. - Both brands have printed labels rather than tags at the neck, which is important. Champion also has a physical fabric care tag sewn in down around the waist. I had to cut that out, so Hanes wins on this count. - Champion has a reflective C logo on the sleeve. Normally I don't like external branding, but in this case the reflective patch is a nice touch since it provides extra visibility at night when headlights hit it. I walk on beaches, not roads, so this doesn't personally matter to me, but it's a nice feature for road runners. Advantage Champion. Bottom line: The Hanes Cool Dri and Champion Double-Dry appear to be virtually identical expect for minor branding differences like the external logo. For me, Champion wins by a nose based on the flat-lock seams around the arm holes and the same-fabric collar, although maybe the Hanes shirts are being made this way now, too. The things I liked less about Champion (small logo on the back neck and fabric care tag sewn in at the waist) are minor and easily dealt with.

Pretty Good Running Shirt
The shirt is very soft material. Wicks well and dries fairly fast. The material is very thin and light. And works well in milder and warmer temps. This isn't a shirt you would wear if it's cold outside, unless you're using it for a base layer. As a base layer under a warmer running shirt/fleece, this works very well. If you get one of the lighter colors and you're a guy with some chest hair, it will show through, so plan on wearing a compression shirt or other tighter fitting shirt under it. Unless you don't care about that, which is fine, to each his own. The shirt doesn't run huge like so many others here have said. I'm 5'9 172 with a 43" chest and 34" arms. I got the medium b/c of the reviews. And the medium fits just like I would expect a medium running shirt to fit. It doesn't fit like a large. It's a bit close to the torso with the sleeves just resting at my wrists, with a bit of material to spare. The forearms fit close, and that's good b/c if they're baggy, they get even baggier with sweat and pretty annoying after awhile. The torso length has the shirt sitting a couple inches below the waist of my running shorts, which is good, b/c you don't want it too baggy after it starts getting soaked with sweat. The neck is comfortable and not too wide or to tight. It's tagless and that adds to the overall comfort. Bottom line is that this is a pretty nice running shirt for the price. If you want it to fit a bit closer to the body during your workouts, then go down a size from your regular size. If you like it looser, then stay with what you normally get. If you plan on using it as a base layer, then size down. If you're wearing it alone, and you get the lighter colors and don't want your chest hair to show through, you'll need to wear another shirt underneath, so if you size down, you may want to consider this extra layer when making your size selection. As for me, I wore a tighter sleeveless shirt underneath this and the medium was still fine for use during some longer runs.

A Dependable Workout Essential That Doubles as Everyday Wear
A Dependable Workout Essential That Doubles as Everyday Wear The Champion Double-Dry long sleeve tee is one of those rare basics that punches above its price. It’s lightweight yet substantial, made from smooth polyester fabric that wicks away sweat efficiently and never feels clingy or heavy—even during long walks or cardio sessions. The fit runs true to size, with just enough room through the torso and sleeves to move comfortably without flapping around. I’ve worn it for everything from early-morning jogs to casual errands, and it transitions seamlessly thanks to its clean design and subtle reflective “C” logo on the sleeve. The UPF 50+ rating adds real value if you spend time outdoors, offering dependable sun protection without feeling hot. The stitching and construction are top-notch for the price—flat seams, double-needle hems, and no shrinkage after washing. Compared with similar shirts from Hanes or Amazon Essentials, the Champion feels a bit more refined in stitching and drape. It’s a touch thicker, so it layers well under a jacket but still breathes nicely on its own. Bottom line: A versatile, moisture-wicking long sleeve that’s just as good for workouts as it is for casual wear. Durable, comfortable, and dependable—one of the best values in performance basics.

My New Secret Weapon against the Sun, Heat, and Humidity!
I live in Florida and work outside in the heat/humidity 40 hours/week. This shirt works very well for keeping me cool and keeping the sun off my skin. I got a white shirt because I wanted to stay as cool as possible, but I also made sure this shirt had a great UPF rating so I knew it was keeping the UVA rays off my skin. So far it's been fantastic. Whenever there is a breeze it's like AC gets turned on underneath the shirt. I've had it rain on the shirt as well and had to go back outside in the sun to work. A coworker offered me a dry shirt to wear, but I declined because of how good this shirt is! I'm normally a medium, but I ordered a small after reading other reviews saying it ran a little large and the small fit me perfectly while not being tight anywhere. The sleeves were still long enough as well. I'm 5'11 155lbs. So far no complaints at all. I will definitely be ordering more!

Perfect in every way.
I love these shirts. I bought 3 white ones. In the winter, I use them as base layers at work and home. In the spring, I use them as base layers whilst cycling. In the summer, I use them whilst hiking or out in the sun. They are not as tight a fit as my other base layers which makes them more comfortable in the summer. The fabric is silky soft and light and they wash well and dry super fast. Almost able to wear them straight out of the washing machine after a fast spin. Price-wise, they are by far the cheapest long sleeve base layer I have. Perfect in every way.

Runs Small - Quality Issue
Great lightweight fabric but my XXL fits like an XL. I reccommend you order one size larger. The one I received had some loose stitching on the neck. I felt like it might actually have been a factory second. I probably should have returned it but I didnt have the time.

Size 2XL - Perfect for Yard Warrior with Large Waist
I'm reviewing the White Champion Men's Long-Sleeve Double-Dry Performance T-Shirt https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DAQTGN2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I could never understand how the lawn maintenance crews could tolerate long sleeves in the hot south florida sun until I tried it. These shirts make it tolerable while protecting your skin from the sun. They are super lightweight and wick sweat away from your skin. I bought 2 brands Champion and Hanes. Both fit. The Champion is slightly lighter and thinner in a good way. The Hanes has longer sleeves. I also tried Vapor Apparel but they were too tight for my fat waist. You will like the Champion shirt if your measurements are similar to these. Taken using a tape measure: Height: 5'11". Chest: 45" Waist: 50" at its widest point. The Champion and Hanes fit comfortably everywhere and both downplay my fat waist without showing the 'contours' of my spare tire. I recommend washing in cold or warm water, no fabric softener then hang them up. No clothes dryer. The Champion white shirt in combination with this hat is a great way to protect yourself from the sun. Right fit, quality material, very comfortable
I used to buy Hanes and wanted to try something new. Hanes are good and long lasting but this tee is outstanding. Fits right on the spot, not tight or stretch. I'm 6'0 and 250 lbs.
