Well designed and good quality toy. For the price it is simply worth it. The packing and quality are outstanding. The instructions are well illustrated, the parts are numbered in order for easy assembly. The final assembled toy works as advertised and is fun to play with. For younger kids the assembly may be little daunting but parents can help out as well. For those parents who still harbour the inner child, this kit is simply a blast!

Pros: It is good for the kids when assembling various parts. Each of the parts is quite sturdy. It does teach kids on why a launcher is important for military operation. Cons: Its ability does not go much beyond that what is mentioned above. After operating the launcher several times over a few days to fly paper aircraft and the foam bullets, my kids lost interest on it. The reason is not difficult to understand. Paper planes are being made and flown often by most kids just by using their hands. This launcher is also doing that only. There needs to be a thrill to use the launcher. This could have happened if this could do something very different, or could send the plane much further. However, I can see the above is difficult to achieve with their construction. Few improvements which could be tried are: (i) Use of metallic springs to propel the launcher (it is rubber band as of now), (ii) allowing different angles (with respect to the base) of release of the plane. This would teach kids that an angle of ~45 degree during launch allows the plane/bullet to go farthest.

Good toy for construction and play

The packaging was good. The instructions were simple and very visual down to the orientation of the parts (i.e. up down). As much fun as my son is having playing with the assembled toy he seemed to have even more fun assembling it. This makes this a great toy to buy if one wants to develop their child's mechanical skills and understanding of basic mechanics. Knowing children this toy is only going to last about 3 - 6 months. The material seems to be some kind of HDF board which I initially mistook for cardboard. I later realized that it was laser cut and hence cannot be cardboard. The laser cutting, I am guessing, produces the beautiful burnt edge of every part which contrasts against the pale coffee color and makes the product feel very machine like. The interlocking rigidity is a little less between parts and on the whole but this is to be expected on account of the nature of the toy itself. Initially I thought air was good enough for the syringes but I was mistaken. The compression of air is more than water and hence the assembled carriage does not elevate fully. Use water as advised, it transfers the pressure with minimal losses. Cost was just perfect for me.... there was a feedback form which one can fill and send back to Smartivity but it wasn't clear to where one would send it so I wrote the review instead. Great toy overall, good value for money. I am sure growing boys and girls alike will love this product. Note to Smartivity - Saw all your other products, very innovative. Please bring out more in the coming days. Thank you...

My students loved this - it was a huge hit at our STEM expo when the students explained and demonstrated hydraulics. It can help to have an adult or person who’s good at putting things together work with young people - there are multiple pieces to put together. The students demonstrated the launcher for several hours and it held together perfectly. It might be nice if the company offered refills of the planes and foam launchers because they launch far and fast, and can get lost if you’re not paying attention. In general it’s a great project at a great price. My students ate 6-8th grade and it worked well for them, with some guidance.

My 7yo loved this. He needed a bit of help in the assembly at first but once he got used to to the rubber bands ( used to attach the pieces) he cruised through it alone. It really works and he learned a bit about hydraulic power. Would definitely order again!

A good STEM kit for my 9 year old. The instructions are super clear that he needs no help from me. He probably spent at least 30 minutes building it while chatting with us and then he and his brothers play together for quite a while. I would say that the design is sturdy enough that my 4 year old has not yet broken it. We are impressed with how functional it is and is compatible with other toys such as the little ball in the video. My son used that to shoot the balls into the basketball hoop.

This is an EXCELLENT product. Very good instructions and build is quite complex. Got it for my 5 year old too difficult for him to assemble but very fun to play with supervision. Amazing for older kids for sure. Bravo !
