Great for Nervous System Regulation
This is a miracle supplement. It noticeably soothes my nervous system. I take this late afternoon, and it helps me transition from work to home without feeling overstimulated. I’ve also suffered from gut issues for most of my life, and this has helped things run a little “smoother” (if you know what I mean).

Best supplement out there
This is the best supplement to keep you healthy. It cleans the lungs and liver. I can’t go a day without this! I take twice a day. I am a smoker. I just feel like I can breathe good with this and I feel healthy. Please don’t discontinue this!

Life Changing
A friend of mine and I used to joke about how it's like breathing in yogurt here in the south with the heat, humidity and allergens. We were fellow asthma sufferers. I had been on an inhaled corticosteroid (Asmanex) for five years, due to adult onset asthma. I'm grateful for Asmanex because it helped me to breathe and kept my lungs from being damaged. I tried several times to go off of it because you never know what side effects await you down the road. But to no avail. After a few days I would go back on it because I like breathing. My friend texted me one day and told me she wasn't breathing yogurt anymore because of NAC. So I decided to try it. I picked up the Jarrow NAC sustained release and started out with three a day. Then two, Then one. Now all I do is take one each morning as soon as I wake up and I have no problems breathing and I am off of Asmanex successfully. This supplement has been endorsed by both the traditional and the alternative medical communities. NAC is what they give you if you go into the ER with acetaminophen poisoning. Evidently it binds it and takes it out of your system. It is also supposed to boost your immune system and there are a host of other things that it does for you. For me, just being able to breathe without drugs is a beautiful thing. And btw, I can breathe better using NAC than I could on the inhaled corticosteroid. Even on Asmanex, I couldn't be in a room with cooking or burning grease. Now it doesn't bother me at all. And I never need a rescue inhaler. Humidity hasn't bothered me either. For some reason, Jarrow's sustained release works better for me than straight NAC. Don't know why, but I don't argue with results. I'm surprised that more pulmonologists and allergists don't know about this. I guess information takes time to circulate. Try NAC. It's probably the most significant supplement I have ever taken. There are no contraindications with medication (with the exception of Nitroglycerin), and the only side effect known is possible stomach upset. I have a pretty sensitive stomach and it hasn't affected me at all. There's a ton of research on NAC. In a major study, it even slowed the progression and severity of COPD in older adults. If you have any doubts, just research it online. It's very safe, and the results can be incredible. At least they were for me. You'll never know until you try it. It could change your life too. Note: "D. Corbo" (see comment on my review) offered some helpful info saying that it should not be taken if you are taking Nitroglycerin and he has also read recommendations to supplement NAC with Vit C (3000 mg Vit C for every 1000 mg) and perhaps consider supplementing a bit of minerals (zinc, copper, trace minerals). As with all health products whether they are drugs, supplements, or herbs, do your own research on legit medical or scientific websites before taking something. This review is meant to encourage you to research this as an option for treating issues concerning breathing.

Great but with a big caveat
I have cystic fibrosis and my GI doctor recommended I try this as a mucolytic. I had fewer "movements" and they were better-formed than they've ever been, which my primary care doctor believes means I have better, more consistent uptake of nutrients (less waste, less waste). I normally try the regular NAC by this brand but couldn't find it and wondered what the difference was if it was "sustained." Well, for me, personally, the difference is, it clears the mucus just as effectively but my energy is improved on an even keel throughout the day. Now, I gave it five stars, but if you're thinking about taking this for energy, I'm a little amped. Not buzzy or anything, but it feels like it'd be hard to sleep. This could also be other things I am taking getting better uptake themselves and not a direct result of only NAC on its own. I'll report back as I try things on and off if I come up with anything useful. Until then I might search harder for the regular kind and take one of each, or lower my dosage here to one instead of two and see if it's still good at the mucus-clearing. Perhaps it's simply a matter of adapting after this big onset. But five stars for me, for this one specific use case, because I was told to take it for a reason and it's awesome at that reason.

Interesting NAC
It is a bit different compared to regular NAC, like it is slow acting, really slow. Regular NAC, you get the clear mind feeling about an hour after you take it. This one is more of a slow drip; it is not as sedating but will last you a lot longer compared to regular NAC.

Helped me detoxify and lose a few stubborn lbs
I've been using this product since I had heard a lot about benefits of glutathione- but glutathione is generally more expensive and I didn't know which form to take... well, NAC is the precursor, so I figured, why not try this first, especially at this price. So- I've gone through maybe 3 bottles now and I've really been impressed with this product. I take a bunch of other ones and switch them up- but I try to make one change at a time to know what's working and what's not. The effects of this product came in an interesting way- so I take these at night figuring my body could probably use this as it repairs and detoxifies at night. What I noticed was that every night I took these, I seemed to lose that 1-2 lbs of stubborn weight I had always wondered why I couldn't lose (most likely due to toxicity, maybe from just daily exposure of being alive....). I had forgotten to to take them some nights, and those nights, I didn't see the little bit of extra weight loss. Anyway- that was at the beginning- fast forward a few months and my weight is almost always where I feel most balanced. I am not as consistent in taking these as before because I feel more stabilized- but when I know I've eaten something or been exposed to more than usual, I make sure to take them. It was pretty subtle at first, but as long as your body has the ability to convert NAC to glutathione, this seems like a great way to keep toxins flowing out of your system. And toxins can cause inflammation (and weight gain)- so if you have those stubborn bit of weight that doesn't budge, think worth the $15 to see if it helps. I haven't tried any other forms of NAC because this one worked for me so well.

A difference you can notice
This brand makes some of the best NAC. If you have bronchitis, asthma, or take a lot of Tylenol this is what you should be considering in an amino acid. Doctors use it to treat overdoses of acetaminophen which sometimes causes liver damage. Not intended to treat disease but should not be overlooked as a dietary consideration with great benefit. This one has sustained release. Not all NAC is the same quality so it helps to get from a good source. My healthcare practitioner had me taking (3) 600 milligrams a day for what is now dormant asthma. No ill effects and my breathing is clear and deep. I have since cut back to (2) a day and could probably go to one a day. Some folks lack a gene and have a few issues with it so it would be wise to start off with one a day to see how you tolerate it. (For me it was no problems or issues) To increase Glutathione levels you could take it with L Glycine or L Serine which is being studied right now.

Changed My Life
I made sure to take this for a few months before posting a review to be sure that it was the supplement that was helping me. I’ve had weird autoimmune symptoms for years now that reached their all time worst this year. I was having chronic hives, bad sleep, sweats, joint pain, bloating, eye floaters, itching, tingling ,HORRIBLE heart palpitations etc. my doctors couldn’t figure it out. My thyroid was a little off but nothing major and I had estrogen dominance but not severely. They tried to treat those issues and my symptoms only worsened. I found someone who was having similar symptoms to mine and she said her doctor thought she had something called MCAS - mast cell activation syndrome. NAC is recommended along with Quercetin to help treat MCAS. The first week of taking NAC, I only had to take my heart medicine (atenolol) once that week when I usually take it 1-2x a day. I didn’t want to get excited only to get let down so I continued taking it and monitoring my condition. It has now been three months and I have not taken a single heart medicine since. My palpitations are now few and far between. I used to wake up every night sweating with my heart racing through the roof and that hasn’t happened since supplementing with NAC. My hives are not as chronic and my sleep quality has improved and I have more energy. I am so thankful I found out about this supplement and I hope my experience can help anyone going through something similar.
