Question 1

Does this require a subscription for service? Or is it just stand alone ready to go and no additional fees?

Accepted Answer

Without subscription, it will only record image.
The Lite subscription is "pay what you want." The recommended amount is $2.48/month. I've read that some people set it at zero. Lite sub will give you 12 secs of recording.

Question 2

What is the range from base?

Accepted Answer

I have 7 of these cameras on a site where we have 11 short term vacation rental cabins - the site is 1 acre and I have the 7 cameras scattered about and all work great. Some are 100' from the base stations. Love these cameras

Question 3

To many reviews about this camera and bad wifi connection.are they true? Does the battery really holds for 2 months without recharging?

Accepted Answer

It depends on activities. Outdoor cams don't record continuously (unless you set it to). The cam would be asleep most of the time. It wakes up when the motion/heat sensors get triggered. So more activities = more awake time = higher power consumption. For reference, I set this cam to record continuously on my first night. It went from 99% to 69% in about 8 hours. So, about 30% every 8 hours or 90% battery per day.
As for the wifi, it depends on obstruction. I got it to work through 3 walls (drywall) at about 100ft away from the base. Although, I just recently purchase an add-on cam (v2) and synced it with this base. It couldn't maintain a stable connection through 1 wall + 20ft.

Question 4

How long does the battery last? How often do you have to recharge the batteries?

Accepted Answer

Mine have lasted up to 7 months before needing recharging. I have one that faces the drive and main entrance and it see little traffic, that lasts the longest. One catches the cat 30 times a day plus me and others in the house. That one lasts about 6-8 weeks between charges. All are outside more or less in the open and cold weather down to -5 F doesn’t seem to be much of a factor either so far. Very impressed with how long the battery’s last
