one of the best black lipsticks!!!
this is a very nice black lipstick. and currently this is one of my go-to's because of how matte black and long-wear it is. i have had little luck finding an actually good black lipstick until now. even the packaging is cute!!! it is one of the few i have had so far that doesn't transfer a whole lot onto other things. kissing someone on the cheek doesn't leave a mark hardly at all, and i've noticed little wear on my lipstick after drinking out of a cup and through a straw. i would recommend touch ups after eating though. other than that, i have had little issues on needing to reapply after wearing it for a long period of time. application is very easy, i also find it satisfying as the formula doesn't feel sticky. it glides really nice and it even smells good too !! it feels soft and the wetness is perfect. it doesn't feel watery or oily either. i couldn't recommend it enough. truly one of the best lipsticks out there (in my opinion)
O**!
Great color and stays on forever!
I admit it: I'm so hooked on these Velvetines! They are my first foray into Lime Crime's makeup, and they really do live up to the hype! Cashmere is a gorgeous "greige" color, with a tiny bit of lavender/pink mixed in. I haven't seen anyone that doesn't look good in it, and to my extreme happiness, it looks good on me too! Application does take some skill, however, but once you get a good method for yourself, it's much easier. This is a liquid lip color that's applied with a doe foot applicator, much like most lip glosses are. The lip color dries really fast, and is opaque with one coat. I usually carefully draw an outline around my lips with the tip of the applicator, and then I fill it in with the more broad portion. I never have to dip the applicator back into the bottle because there's just the right amount for one complete application on it when I pull it out. You do need to work sort of quickly – remove mistakes immediately or they'll stay there all day – because it dries within seconds. After I'm completely done applying the liquid, I keep my mouth open and my lips kind of stretched into a wide exaggerated smile, to allow the product to dry without collecting in the crevices of my lips. Once it's dried down completely, it's a beautiful velvety matte texture. I've never used anything like it! This stuff stays on through drinking out of a bottle, straw, gentle kisses, even a meal, assuming it's not terribly greasy. The only downside to using the Velvetines is that they do tend to make your lips dry. This is true of all matte liquid lippies, and it's a trade-off for the superb staying power. I use a lip scrub every few nights, and I keep my lips moisturized with the Laneige sleeping pack for lips overnight. In the morning, I apply a moisturizing balm to my lips up until I am ready to apply my lip color, when I simply wipe it off. If you have balm on your lips before application, or if you apply some afterwards, it will seriously decrease the staying power. If you find that it's wearing off in the middle portion of your mouth, you'll usually have much better results if you can remove the color completely and reapply it. If I'm out and I see this, I just use lip balm to remove Velvetines from my lips! Any oil-based cleanser – or even coconut or jojoba oil – will easily remove the color, as will many makeup wipes. A bonus to the oil is additional moisture in your lips. Don't try to force it off with water and a washcloth or an ineffective makeup remover; pulling on your lips will HURT and can cause wrinkles later on. No thanks! Overall, I really love the Velvetines as a product, and Cashmere is my favorite color. I lost mine on the subway and had to reorder it. It's one of the very few items that I like enough to reorder! The color is very close to the swatch pictured, and the claims about staying power are absolutely true. Once I figured out the best way to apply these, I found that I can wear them every day, and I do.

Less Halloween, More Pumpkin Pie, and just as smooth.
Color - I ordered the color Pumpkin and I immediately regretted it and tried to cancel the order because as an extremely white, warm-toned girl, I thought it would look horrible. But then once I tried it on, I realized that it's actually an amazing color! Surprisingly enough, it looks exactly like the picture. I would suggest this for people only with warm-toned skin, not cool, though it might look fine with neutral, I'm not sure. I wouldn't think so. I also think that it would work with any skin color except extremely dark. The color isn't really a pumpkin color. It's a dark, brick-toned orange that my friends said didn't resemble a carrot or pumpkin in the slightest. Application - I use a brush for application because I found the applicator difficult to use. A very small concealer brush or even a circular eyeliner brush will work. I outlined my top lip and then filled it in with the applicator itself, making a very precise application. The bottom lip I did use the applicator for the middle part of the lip and then used the brush to connect it to my top lip. None of this is necessary if you're very precise or advanced with liquid lipstick application, but I find it very useful otherwise. It was very smooth, but it can look a little bit streaky if you don't quickly put it on, because it gets darker the more layers you put on. Overall, once it's perfect, it looks wonderful, but I found that it took some practice in making everything even-toned and pretty. Consistency - I already said that it was very smooth, but once it dries, it dries completely down and at first is sort of drying feeling and after a couple hours it feels rather powdery and even sort of comes off slightly if you kiss your hand. After that, though, somehow it just felt like my lips and stuck on perfectly. Wear Time - I put on the lipstick at 5 o'clock in the morning and had to take it off at 11 because even after a shower, it didn't come off. For 6 hours it was perfectly on with absolutely no problem and I'm sure it would have lasted longer, I'll have to update after I use it again for longer, but this isn't a color that I would use every day. The only problem was that it wore away on the very inside of my lips, but you could barely tell when I was talking and other than that, there was no wearing away at all.

Long wear, color not as shown
I'm not pleased with color as it is not representative of what is shown - shown purports to be mauveish greige however my bottle is defiantly more brown. I've worn on lips and swatched on hand in both one coat to two coats. Each swatch produces a different finally dried down color that is more in the brown family. Firmly in the brown family with little mauve for first couple hours especially. Quite disappointing as it seems different batches from the company produce different colors that are not consistent. My 1st cashmere bought long ago was perfection as color shown from initial wear to taking it off. As consumers we buy most products based on consistency having liked a color, scent, flavor etc. I do enjoy the superior wear time for this lipstick as it does better than all my long lasting lip products. Drying lip feel isn't a big problem at all for me as I prep lips well every day and night. This hasn't cracked or caked or peeled off in little pieces Very pleased with wear time and literally no transfer unless eating heavy oil item that you bite directly or very hot coffee sipped from a mug. The lipstick will wear off slightly if continued exposure to the hot coffee but doesn't wear off on cup. Just starts to flake on lips. If the color would be consistent back to what is pictured it would be a nearly unbeatable liquid matte lipstick. Swatches below show indoor first two as it appears more brown. Last photo taken four hours after application in natural light makes the color appear more true to company lip swatch. Of course lip color skin color can alter final color. But true color seems to appear a couple hours after application both on lips, hand swatch so maybe that's the key to color differences? Hope this info helps as really it seems the color will vary but overall wear, consistency of texture are wonderful. Light vanilla (maybe just sweet) scent dissipated after first five minutes on lips.

" Absolutely LOVE it for daily wear
Wearing "bleached." Absolutely LOVE it for daily wear! Lime crime velvetines are definitely my favorite of all the liquid lipsticks out there! For those not familliar with liquid lipstick, they apply like a gloss, and set within a few minutes to a matte, long lasting finish. If you're wanting to use a lip liner, be sure to use it after your liquid lipstick sets- using before is pretty counter productive as these are so pigmented they will hide the lip liner altogether. I personally think the lighter colors as well as the metallics look better lined- but really comes down to personal preference and most of the time I wear velvetines as is. I know some people find velvetines drying, and I somewhat agree with that, but honestly I'll take slightly dry lip stuffs that lasts literally all day as opposed to reapplying 10+ times a day! A trick to avoid overdrying of the lips is to apply a quick swipe of CHAPSTICK (not balm, not gloss- plain old chapstick!) and blot before applying your velvetines. The only negative about doing this is your velvetines will not last quite as long. Tips for applying- take your time! Keep a few q-tips and some makeup remover handy and erase any mistakes quickly- the longer you wait, the harder it is to take off! -Start by lining your lips with the wand, when you've got your shape just right, fill in the rest. -Be sure to scrape the applicator on the inside rim of the tube to remove any excess/drippy liquid lipstick; start lining with a small amount of product so it doesn't drip and glob in all the wrong places! - A little goes a long way with this highly pigmented stuff and the great thing about velvetines is you can build it on itself for more intense color if it's streaky. - I find that one pass is sufficient, but if you want to add another layer be sure to allow the first layer of liquid lipstick to dry completely before adding the next! - And last, if you need to remove your liquid lipstick but don't have any makeup remover handy, in a pinch a little moisturizer, olive oil, or even some cheap lip gloss will do the trick! Really anything a little oily will do- just apply a thin layer of said oily product all over your lips, let sit for a few seconds, then wipe it all away with a paper towel- voilà! These are a great buy for anyone wanting to try liquid lipstick for the first time (and of all the brands I've tried, lime crime remains my favorite). I wear "bleached" as my every day color- it's the perfect pinky-nude, only shades darker than my natural lip color. Some other great colors I love are Sasha (a deep mauve-nude), rodeo (a muted red tone), Cupid (super soft angelic pink), shroom (a neutral brown-nude)... clearly I like the neutral colors! I highly recommend velvetines and plan to continue to buy my favorites as well as continue to keep buying fun new colors to try out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Flakes, bleeds, cakes, and stains UPDATE: THINLY APPLIED IS THE KEY TO GETTING THIS LIPSTICK TO LOOK GOOD!
UPDATE: I applied this product with a brush rather than the applicator it comes with and it worked MUCH better. I was able to apply it more thinly and it still stayed true to color and didn't cake up or dry out my lips, and it lasted all day! If you really want this color, and are looking for a clean, dry feeling, just keep in mind that a little dab'll do you. Added 1 star. Really disappointed by this product. This was a little expensive for me, but got such great reviews I thought it was probably worth it. Unfortunately, not. I was pleasantly surprised by the sugar cookies smell, and although these kind of applicators are always a pain, it was velvety smooth once properly applied and exactly the shade I'd hoped for. I use a lot of different kind of lipsticks, and I love bright red, so I'm pretty good about knowing how to properly apply lipstick, especially new ones that I'm not sure about yet. One of the best ways to avoid flaking is to exfoliate the lips before applying, which I did, and it still flaked. Badly. Now, this is not supposed to be stain, or I would have expected the drying, but it did dry out my lips significantly. It was only an hour or two into the work day when I realized that it was starting to bleed outside my lipline. I was surprised by this because a) it dried so quickly I didn't understand how it could have been wet enough to seep outside of where I put it and b) as I said, I'm an experienced lipstick applier/all-day-wearer and I'm in the habit of not touching my mouth and being careful when drinking anything throughout the day. I would have expected it to last through a meal, but this was very clearly bleeding, not smearing, because it formed those little perfect wrinkly lines away from my lips. Next came the caking. Sometimes you just have to learn how to wear a lipstick, so I fixed up the bleeding by wiping the edges of my lips and reapplying the product, and resolved to check in on it and be more careful in case I really had caused the messiness myself. A few minutes back at my desk, and my lips became so dry they hurt, and I could physically feel it clumping up again. I went back to the bathroom to check, and it was honest to g-d lumpy AND it was bleeding again! I had a meeting in half an hour, so rather than suffer through it feeling self conscious, I wiped it off. For something that wouldn't stay on my face when I wanted it to, now it had stained my lips in bright red patches! And I don't mean a faint pink, I mean the same color as the lipstick was stuck to the drier patches all over my lips. I managed to only just barely look presentable by applying some chapstick over it. The only reason this gets two stars instead of 1 is because it might be alright if you're wearing it to an event, like if you're doing a dance performance or a wedding. Even then, I might not risk it. But it is definitely not an everyday lipstick.

LOVE
I have been wearing the exact same NARS lipstick in madere (it's basically concealer colored) for as long as I can remember. I always buy different lipsticks but I always end up hating them and going back to my go to. Until now. LimeCrime Cashmere is my new go to and will be for a long time to come. I always wear a nude lip, and this color is light enough, but still gives me some definition. As some other reviewers have said, I'm more of a dark eye rather than a dark lip girl, and this is perfect for that. It's a little more grey than I expected, but I still love it. And I'm not sure if it's just me, but I swear it makes my teeth look significantly whiter. So now let's talk about the fact that it stays on FOREVER (as far as lipsticks go). I do need to reapply after eating, but most times just on my inner lips. Reapplying too often will cause some thickness and I think causes what some reviewers have described as "cracking", so keep it to one light coat to start, and only reapply in the spots where it has faded. If some is gone and some is still there don't put more on top of what's left and you should be good :) And it is kind of liquidy, so make sure to wipe off all excess from the applicator, first. I have never had a lipstick that lasts this long. I haven't had to use a lip liner, no problems with smearing or bleeding, but you do have to be very precise when applying (no slapping this on while you're driving). I love it so much that I just ordered bleached and 2 moods. Can't wait until I get them!

Happy with my red lipstick!
I have waited a while to make a review, since I'm not a makeup pro, and I wanted to give good feedback. I wanted a red lipstick for special occasions, and I wanted something that's going to stay put. I touch my face more than I should, and as a normal non-makeup-wearer, I was worried I'd end up smearing red all over my face. It's not the easiest in the world to apply, but it's red lipstick, so it's going to be a bit difficult, no matter what. It also starts drying down pretty quickly after you apply, so you don't have forever to move it into place. I've found that I like doing an outline of my lips with some lipstick on a Q-tip (or if you're awesome use that makeup brush), then I go back in with the doe-foot wand and apply the lipstick to the inner part of my lip. Let it dry for a minute or so, and you're ready to go. I just do one layer. This does dry out your lips a bit, as most liquid lipsticks will, but just try to moisturize your lips when you're not wearing the lipstick, and you'll also probably want to exfoliate your lips, as well, just to keep the liquid looking smooth and nice. As far as eating: I've read reviews where people say that they ate a burrito and the lipstick stayed put. WELP, I just be a messy eater, because I always end up with it coming off and smearing a bit, especially if I'm eating a burrito or a sandwich. But it doesn't end up all the way on my chin or other far off destinations, and it definitely stays on better than a regular lipstick. And I don't mind reapplying some makeup after downing a burrito (what else am I going to do? I probably can't move!). Remove it with some coconut oil on a cotton pad or piece of TP, and you're good to go. And remember to moisturize! I bought this because of the good reviews, but I'd be willing to try some other brands. All in all, I'm pretty happy with my purchase. It's red as a fire engine, which is exactly what I wanted.

Superbe
