Murder Mystery Party Jigsaw Puzzle, Death on the Istanbul Express, 1000pc

Boy this was tricky! Perfect for a beach week as various people tried their hands at finding connecting pieces. Very challenging. Just what was needed. You do not have any idea what the picture is you’re putting together! Will buy another one next year!

I picked this up for my husband, who loves to do a puzzle every year during the holidays and is always looking for a new challenge. Not only is this one 1000 pieces, but the picture is unknown. Included is a booklet with the short story, which ends with the mystery unsolved (although there are enough clues that it's not hard for mystery sleuths to have a pretty good idea where its headed). Whether or not a person can guess the 'who-done-it' has little to do with the challenge of putting the puzzle together. This is a larger puzzle and luckily, we left ourselves quite a bit of table space. It took 4 of us around 4 hours to complete it. While it's impossible to guess what the puzzle will look like when completed, there are contrasting colors/textures as well as familiar objects to make sure it doesn't get too difficult. The pieces aren't always cleanly cut (little ears of paper from the pack not cut clean on a few), but that wasn't a problem. The cuts were also very varied, and the pieces do sit nicely together. After finishing the puzzle, some of the mystery was solved. The rest was explained in the booklet...some of which seemed a little far-fetched but that's not the point. It was quite a bit of fun to do, kept even my two older teens entertained the entire time (they usually give up on the puzzling after 1/2 hour or so), and added a fun activity to the holiday weekend. I'd definitely buy it again.

This was my first time trying this kind of puzzle. The puzzles were easy to assemble. Overall, the experience was great until I was near the end of the puzzle and realized three pieces were missing. Ironically, I also had three extra pieces that did not fit anywhere. Needless to say, this was a disappointment. Therefore I gave this puzzle 4 out of 5 stars.

Very fun puzzle, good mystery

My husband and I love these puzzles but it was a bummer to get it together and find one piece missing..

We enjoyed putting the puzzle together. It was challenging but fun. But the story portion was a bit of a mess. The writing was terrible and there were too many characters to remember any of the details. In the end it was just a puzzle with a detached mystery. And that you are supposed to read the three pages of solution in the mirror is a bit silly. Plus we had two extra duplicate pieces which means someone’s puzzle was missing two.

I have done several of these puzzles and enjoyed them very much. They are a challenge but I wanted something that was bit more difficult. There is on picture, but once I got the edges done, it was easier to find color matches. The mystery stories are well written. I have to admit I did not always solve the mystery, but I was more interested in completing the puzzle.

Love these mystery puzzles. No picture to use as a template. We pass them around the family

Leider sieht der Karton nicht so aus wie auf dem Bild. Was für mich schade ist, da ich auf der Suche nach diesen Puzzlen bin

Wat een oplichterij. De puzzel an sich is niet meer dan okay. Kwalitatief erg stevige stukjes, maar niet echt leuk om te maken. Het bijgaande verhaal is geinig, maar de twee gecombineerd zouden je moeten helpen bij de oplossing. Oplossing is veel te vergezocht en de zgn. clues zijn nergens te bekennen (op 2 na) op de puzzel. Dit is door de beste detective nog niet op te lossen. Echt veel te duur om hier iets leuks van te kunnen maken. Nee, hier trap ik niet meer in. Ik zou graag mijn geld terug zien. Totale miskoop.

The puzzle part was a fun time, however the 'mystery' part of it was not quite what I had hoped for. The booklet gives all the information you need to 'solve' the mystery. The image on the completed puzzle is not much more than a confirmation. Would like to see a puzzle with more details and story hidden in the puzzle.
