Seems to be real butyl - just a little sticky as it should be, but it goes on well to prepared surfaces. Aluminum backing is a nice thickness too. Would buy again.

Nice product nice price. We used it to repair some hurricane damage on our carport and seemed to work fine very sticky so have your plan together before you lay it down cause it will not come up in one piece.

This stuff is awesome! It's really good to have on hand in case of any emergencies. I had a leak in a pipe connected to the mainline of our house on a Friday evening so I just sealed it with this tape until I could get a plumber to come out. I saved so much money by not having to pay for an emergency appointment. So far, the tape has been on for almost a week and it hasn't let up. But I suppose, I should for real work on getting someone to come out here.. The material is really plush and thick. You can tell it's probably going to be effective by just touvhing it. It feels like it has a million layers to reinforce it. Honestly, I just got this because I thought it would be a good thing to have on hand and I haven't explored how else I can use it. But I know there are things around the house that could use some reinforcement. At this point, I just like having it on hand for peace of mind. Would definitely recommend to anyone, especially homeowners who aren't well seasoned in plumbing. Keep this in your garage and remember it because it will come handy for various issues and by avoiding "emergency appointments" you'll save hundreds or thousands!

Arrives as pictured. IMO this does not work well if what you're applying it to is not smooth and straight. I was using it to tape 2 expandable, ridged, white plastic gutter drainage pieces together and it left gaps in the ridges, so I had to buy a different waterproof tape that was thin and malleable to wrap and "tuck" into the ridges over this tape to prevent leakage causing erosion. It's good tape and sticks well, you just have to be sure it can completely seal what you are putting it on.

My 135 degree gutter joint was separated and leaking badly. I contacted X-Fasten for advice and I they were incredibly helpful. I was instructed to remove all joint sealant and to extend the tape well beyond the split joint. They also suggested warming pre-cut pieces of tape with a hair dryer to improve workability of the butyl layer. So far there have been 3 significant rain storms with no leaks. Hopefully the tape will endure typical winter freeze/thaw cycles. The only negative is that I have lots of extra tape. It would be nice if there was a single repair size.

Went into the garage today after my wife moved her golf cart. There were 5 strips of this tape laying on various parts of the garage floor. Parts of the glue was still remaining on duct I attempted to seal. The glue just let go and the tape fell to the floor. It appears this tape is too thick, heavy, and stiff. I ordered other tape it is holding well.

Used for gutter repair & eliminated the leaks. Need to get the surface clean first.

Lo compré para sellar un zaguán, mi calle está inclinada hacía mi casa y cuando llueve se mete el agua por la entrada, utilicé esta cinta para que no dejara que pase el agua y se inunde. Sirve perfecto, es como una cinta gruesa con mucho pegamento y se adhiere perfecto a cualquier superficie, 100% recomendada.

Definitivamente el adhesivo no sirve para sellar goteras en el techo, ya que con el calor de 2 semanas, se despega. Es mejor el adhesivo de base asfáltico negro,pero procuren calentar un poquito con secadora para cabello caliente.
