OPTIMA® Digital 1200 12V Performance Battery Charger and Maintainer

This charger is working well. I like the digital readout and options available like AGM, deep cycle, maintain, etc. You do have to “select” what you are trying to do but it’s a single button push in most cases. Being able to ask it the state of the battery is useful. I have a 40 year old charger that still works but bought this for a new location, I’m glad I did. I may get another and put my old one on the shelf as an emergency backup, that’s how much I like it.

This is an excellent charger! Works great on my yellow top, my secondary standard battery, my mower, and soon I bet it'll see the Harley battery. I'm charging all of them with this now. Real simple to use. Connect the battery, plug it into the wall and push a button or two. It tells you the battery life after a 5 mins evaluation, then starts charging and tells you what amp and voltage it is at. I'm super impressed. I bought this to have a nice charger around, and the guys at Optima charged a battery for me at a car show years ago with this same charger. Gave it back to me in just over an hour and said I was good to go, and that battery got me through the rest of the show!

I got one of these because my neighbor let me borrow his. One of my cars had the battery completely die on it. The battery was about 5 years old so it is what I would consider near the end of it's life AND i don't drive the car a lot. I pulled the battery out and put it on this charger. It took ~12 hours for it to fully charge and go to maintenance mode. The battery has worked like an absolute champ ever since. The cost of this is slightly prohibitive/steep. But compared to the $40 ones you find at the part store... it does a lot more and performs WAY better. So it certainly lives up to the price.

I've used several different battery chargers with my Optima Yellow Top battery over the last few years. And they've all seriously disappointed me. One will quit charging randomly before the battery is fully charged. Another doesn't switch to trickle charging when the battery is charged, leading to possible over-charging of the battery. I'd rather not have to babysit a battery while it is charging, thank you very much. This charger doesn't have those problems. You just hook it up, select the mode you want, and walk away. It regulates voltage and current properly to both charge the Optima (or other) batteries as quickly as possible, while doing so safely. My only complaint with it is that the cable compartment at the back is just barely big enough to hold the charging cables. So it takes a while to properly fold the cable to get it to fit. Even if it was just a little bit bigger storing the cable would be quite a bit easier. But other than that, it's a fantastic charger. Now, if only the price weren't quite so high...

This is a fantastic charger / conditioner/ rehabilitatior! I had another brand battery maintainer $65 model that I thought was maintaining my optima blue marine battery. It supplied volts but not enough amps to keep my Seadoo boat running properly. The boat is highly electronic and at first use in the season would miss and run horribly and the electronics weren't reading correctly. The battery was only a few years old so I knew it should be good. I ordered this charger from Amazon (and got it faster than if I'd have ordered it from Optima directly). I put this optima charger on the battery and ran a pre-charge test. It came back as 75% charged but nearly no amps. This digital charger varies its charging cycle based on the type and size battery you have, from motorcycle to boat, lead, AGM it will test and charge / de sulfate and maintain them all. I was able to restore three other lead deep cycle batteries that I thought were junk. It's not a starting booster but it's one heck of a fantastic charger. Well worth the money. Highly recommended!!

This is the only charger I would trust to charge my Optima Yellow that I have installed in my Cobra. I was previously using a cheaper and generic charger that I got from my local shop but never really trusted it enough to leave it on 24/7. Even when it wasn't charging it made noises and never seemed to turn off. So I finally splurged and bought the Optima. Honestly, I wish I had done it years ago. The Optima charger/maintainer does it all and is quiet. The screen is awesome, use is straightforward, and comes with a compartment to organize your cables. I've been using it for the last year with no issues. Leave it attached to the Cobra so it can keep the battery alive since I rarely use it. All in all, I give it a thumbs up and would definitely recommend this to anybody.

I had to buy a second one due my gf accidently running over the first one. But the charger works as advertised and recovered my old sears die hard when my other charger would not. it got me 2 more years of the battery and the battery has been winched on and I have a ARB fridge. I recommend this charger. it I did not want the charger faster, I would have ordered directly from Optima with a new batter to get an year of warranty on the battery.

This is the first charger I have ever owned that has really been well engineered. The handle and cord storage is great; the clamps are first rate (love the little light in my dark battery compartment on the boat); and the electronics seem to be very well done. I bought it because I my old Schumacher charger had died, and I had borrowed another Schumacher charger from my neighbor to charge a marine starting battery that had been heavily discharged by accidentally leaving the fishfinder on for a week. The borrowed charger simply would not recharge that $100 battery, apparently because it was so heavily discharged. After a string of cheap chargers, I went looking for a better one. This looked very nice and the reviews were good. When I got delivery of the new Optima, I tried it on that same marine battery. It analyzed it for a couple of minutes and then went right to work. I checked after 3 hours and it was still at only 50% of capacity, but by the next morning it was fully charged and it seems to work just fine now. I figure that the Optima just saved me half of its purchase price on its first job. I plan to use it to maintain my boat batteries over the winter. They don't do to well up here in northern MN. This looks like a winner.

I bought a yellow-top Optima battery for my Subaru STI in June 2018. The car is stored over the winter. February 2019 I went to check it and noticed no power, not even a "click" when the ignition key was turned...a voltmeter showed "1 volt" (I think I left an interior light on). I have four battery chargers of different types, none of them could revitalize the STI's Optima battery. My mechanic son suggested trying an Optima battery charger. As I also have an Optima battery in my Silverado (and plan to buy one for my 2016 Buick when it needs a new battery), I decided it was worth the expense. I connected the Optima battery charger as soon as I received it to the STI's battery, and in 12 hours the battery was 80% recharged. The Optima charger seems to have technology to "reach down" and recharge a deeply discharged battery that other types of chargers cannot. Amazing. I'm thinking about having a battery-charger garage sale, I don't need the other four now that I've seen what the Optima charger can do (not only to the Optima battery, but other types as well). Highly recommended.

A must have for AGM batteries, great to maintain them on a custom car not used that often

Really great charger and maintainer. Very well built and lots of features. Has great onboard storage of cords and keeps them nice and neat. Cords are made of good grade rubber and do not crack under the coldest day. Display is easy to read and the charger is not complicated to understand. I recommend everyone gets one they are a life saver.

I had an older Optima battery that would not charge with my other chargers. Hooked this one up and had it do the battery check. Its charging now and is good to go.

This is a great battery charger for all types of batteries. The LED light and battery test are great features.
