How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby: Fully revised and updated

We followed the Shettles method and ended up with the result we were hoping for, but I honestly can’t say if it was the method or just coincidence. Either way, we’re happy it worked out.

I read this book and searched for more information online. It really works. I’m very grateful for this knowledge, and I’m so happy with my little girl on the way!❤️

This book is great. Indepth. Goes into history of sex selection and how it works now. I am going to try for a girl and will update again later. I currently have a boy (not by using sex selection) However, if you go through the steps on how to have a boy, it is accurate based on timing etc. Regarding the single star that this book has gotten, it is inaccurate. You have sex often when trying to have a girl to lower the sperm count (men have more male sperm, this lowers the male sperm and gives the female sperm a better chance) 2) regarding the pill, the doctors recommend you get your period atleast once. Inorder to properly select the sex of your baby, you must plan and have "practice" months to determine your time of ovulation-only then can you use sex selection. You can not do that in only one month---especially for a girl. and either way, I would want to wait atleast 6 months to make sure that all the chemicals and sideeffects of the pill are out of my system before trying for a baby.

The method worked for us but we made some minor additions to the plan. We used both saliva and urine ovulation strips with the microscope instead of only tracking mucous and temperature but this allowed us to, we feel, get a much more precise measurement of exactly when ovulation was occurring after two months of gathering data. We then had sex in the position described 24 hours after the positive urine test and microscope confirmation. My wife also was on a high calorie, protein and potassium diet for two months prior and also took a dose of cough syrup daily for two weeks prior to when we attempted to create an alkaline environment in her body. I also did what I had to do by abstaining for days prior and wearing boxer shorts for two months. Whether it is truly 50-50 as skeptics believe or not, I can't say, but we followed the method and got our desired result. Also looking back at all of the factors that went into conceiving our daughter they aligned with the Shettles method for a girl to a T. If you're looking to sway your chances of having a particular gender I would highly recommend this book / method. Even if it's only a few percentage points either way it's not that difficult to try and you may get exactly what you're looking for.

First, I’d like to say that I have not attempted to become pregnant yet...so I cannot say if it worked or not. I’ll update once I become pregnant and then again once we find out what the sex is (we have two sons and are trying for a girl with this last baby). My stars are based on the book itself. I felt like the first few chapters were unnecessary, like they were trying hard to make the reader believe in their process (which i already do hence why i purchased the book). Other than that, the rest of the information was great. I feel confident in this journey. My cycle should start tomorrow and I’m excited to begin tracking my CM and BBT daily. If my next three cycle charts appear “average”, we will give our first real try in May. :)

This is a very interesting book. The history and information about guessing gender over the years was really interesting. I found that I got 2/3rd through the book until there was really any real information on the science behind it and how to go about it. The information about the speed and shape of sperm was interesting as well as how the discovery cam about. When the author gets to the actual practicality of how to apply this information, the section is a bit lacking. A better book on timing intercourse is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." This book was just far to short to really explain a woman's cycle and all it's nuances in detail. Then in the end, certain details, like enemas, sex positions, etc. are all kind of just thrown out the window like it really just boils down to timing. The gist of the timing goes like this: 0-1 day before ovulation = boy, 2 days before ovulation = 50/50 boy or girl, 3+ days before ovulation = girl. If you want to know the background, history, and science behind it, then get the book. If you are just looking for the proper timing, you might be disappointed to pay for something that is freely distributed on the internet.

It worked for all three of my kids. Go ahead and buy it but here’s the advice that sums it up. Do the deed on the day you ovulate for a boy, and two days before you ovulate for a girl. I got what I was hoping for each time! Two boys then a girl.

I had a girl :) whoop whoop :) I used the science bit about timing and it worked. We have two boys and at 42 this was always going to be baby number last, so I thought I'd give it a go, as I really secretly wanted a pink one :) we didn't find out what we were having and were so happy for our beautiful baby girl to have arrived :) I beleive it helps tips the 50/50 balance and its worth a shot :)

It worked! Just had the baby DNA testing and it’s a boy :-)) I only had intercourse on the first day of peak, which I found throught the clearblue ovulation tracking monitor... I actually got pregnant 3 times within six months by only having intercourse on the first day of peak , but only this baby made it to the second trimester. I highly recommend this book but you will need to track ovulation as well for a better outcome!

Nach zwei Söhnen wollten wir diesmal unbedingt ein Mädchen. Wir haben uns strikt an alle Anweisungen gehalten und es hat geklappt! (Letzter GV an Zyklustag 10, ES an Zyklustag 15) (Zur Ermittlung des Eisprungs habe ich Ovaluationstests wie im Buch beschrieben - und parallel das Ava-Armband verwendet. Die Ergebnisse der beiden "Messinstrumente" lagen in jedem Zyklus maximal einen Tag auseinander.) Sehr gut verständliches Buch in englischer Sprache.
