VG quality opener
Had one of these openers years ago. Since, I've picked up diff ones here and there with typical sprockets, and all have turned out to be inconsistent and less than satisfactory. I returned to this great little opener. In fact, I picked up two. It provides a nice clean removal of any can lid. No fuss, no muss and no ragged edges. Very satisfied.

Easy and leaves a clean edge
I love this kind of can opener because it leaves a clean, non-sharp edge and the lid can be used to close the can. This one is easy to use and has held up well.

Simple to use
Simple to use. I'm not expecting this mostly plastic devise to last a long time. It is perfect for removing the can's top safely. It is a good product. I do wish it was more durably crafted.

Safety and Easy of Use - Great price
Sturdy, cuts from the side and very easy to use.Has lasted longer (hasnโt broken with use) than others Iโve purchased plus the can lid doesnโt fall into the ingredients without any sharp edges.I bought a spare, just in case, but so far I havenโt had to use it. I hate traditional can openers and this one is easy to use with its parrot beak to grab hard to lift lids.Itโs a YES!

Yes, it is a good can opener
I have had at least three can openers from different manufacturers of this type and they all stop working after a few years. The problem seems to be that they wear to the point where they do not slice the seal between the top and the can cylinder itself.I have not had this particular unit long enough to comment on its life expectancy. It is easy to use, and works just fine. I have other can openers, both electric and manual, but I prefer to use this one since it leaves the top usable as a cover. If you use less than a full can, like for pet food, it's nice to be able to place the top back on and place it in the refrigerator.I have not tried it on odd shaped cans, although I expect it to work on these type cans. I have an excellent EZ Duz It "non safety" can opener which will open any can I have tried it on IF this unit will not work. This Starfrit unit opens cans easily with no drama and no mess. It is worth a few dollars more to avoid buying junk.

Excellent!
Awkward at first then you figure everything out and it is wonderful! Perfect cut and lid all the way off without slicing fingers.
User
Awkward and ineffective
I am astounded at the number of positive reviews for this piece of crap. I have repeatedly and carefully followed the instructions with consistently bad results.I really wanted it to work, but I think Iโm gonna go back to a plain old regular can opener.

Muy recomendable
Lo amรฉ. Bonito diseรฑo, no deja orillas filosas, fรกcil de usar. Los abrelatas que habรญa en el sรบper eran caros y sin estรฉtica

Best can opener I've used!
The best can opener by far. We had one of this but eventually broke after almost ten years. The way this works is not to make any cuts at all but instead undo the factory seal. It also includes a very intuitive lid picker so you don't have to hold it and make some mess. I almost never have to wash the opener because it doesn't touch any of the contents!

No more sharp can lids!
I bought this after I cut my thumb on a can lid, and it works exactly as it is supposed to. Also has a little gripper to make it easier to lift off the lid. Very good quality. Recommended.

Well made product
This is a well constructed can opener. You can feel the the difference in it's design and materials used to produce it. All parts fit firmly together. While it does take more effort to turn when opening a can in the manner this opener is meant to do, the manufacturer provides a large controller to assist in this method. Most often the lid of the can remains clean after removal as it remains elevated eliminating the need to rinse before tossing in recycle bin. The opener remains clean so there is no rinsing and drying it and no sharp edges.

By Jove, it works!
A few months ago, my two-handed Starfrit can opener died. I had purchased it in the early 90s, so I couldn't complain about not getting good use from it. With that in mind, I read through the descriptions of too many can openers before settling on this one-handed model by Starfrit.I confess I still have a one-handed can opener from Europe, a cranky geriatric affair made of metal and saved for just-in-case situations. Even at 50, It can still splutter its way through a tin if it has to. Based on my experience when we were both younger, I decided to see how well a one-handed model by Starfrit--a model that was on sale!--would fare. The answer is: very well. The opener attaches easily to the can, and the grip is large, stable and easy to turn. Once you have made the circuit around the can, all you have to do is turn counter-clockwise to detach the opener. It is easy to clean the surface of the cutting wheel, which is important, since contaminated residue on the mechanism causes many cases of domestic food poisoning each year.Despite its virtues, I don't know if my new Starfrit ,will survive as long as the old one, however. The quality of the plastic is different. No longer rubbery, it seems more brittle, and possibly more vulnerable to breakage, should it fall from the dish-rack to the kitchen floor one time too many. When I washed it recently, I was surprised to see water dripping from the open seam that runs along the handle. I made a mental note to clean the handle with a dishcloth in future, while subjecting the head to more rigorous cleaning.Compared to its predecessor, this one-handed model removes the top more cleanly, with no jagged edges. That's an important improvement! All in all, a good product, even if I am a little skeptical of the material. Yes, Virgina, one-handed can openers are a thing and they can in fact work really well, like this one.
