The size of the coat is 28"x18.5", and the length of the sleeve is 17". It should fit for kids age 5-11.

Does it come with a book of experiments for kids to do?

No, unfortunately it doesn't. But that is really the only drawback. I was bummed at first but my kids literally played for HOURS over the next several days with the set anyway. They used food coloring,corn starch, different colored juices (they don't stain like the food coloring), baking soda, water, etc and they had a blast. My kids are 6 and almost 8. Everything is made of great quality and it will last. I really do recommend it. You can easily find experiments online to do using everything from the set anyway so it's not really a big deal.
