Amazing!!! I love it!
The day it came in I went out to try it. There's a small tree stump that's been plaguing my house as we kept cutting it down and even salting the earth and it kept coming back. So I figured this would make the perfect test. And it was! It sliced and sawed through roots of all sizes, dug out the dirt, and made digging up that stump easier than if I had used a saw trowel and shovel instead of just this blade and a shovel. Could not have done this without this blade!Included are some pictures of the blade after use, where I did need a slightly damp rag to wipe off the clay that was sticking to it, but otherwise it's holding strong! Great quality blade and leather. It feels sturdy.I saw someone complain that the handle was too big, but I have child sized hands and it fit fine. I saw another saw that the handle dug into their hands, but I work with gloves so I never noticed that. I do know it wasn't seamlessly smooth when I ran my bare hands over it.I also included some pictures of the stump and the blade for size and reference. The blade is well maintained too! Nice and sharp. All in all it's great for gardening and yardwork! (I haven't tried the sharpening stone yet obviously as it's day one of having it, but just looking at the stone seems like it's good?)

Long lasting value
I had to come back over a year later to say that I absolutley love this product. It is made incerdeibly well, and it is insanley multi-purpose. If you only could have one item for pruning, repotting, digging up, and cutting down your plants this would be the one. The sheath is made well and has inside protector that has stayed intact this whole time. I use it frequently and it still looks brand new. There is no rust whatsoever. Wonderful-- I dont even want to say "for the price" because that implies there is a low bar. It is a wonderful knife/shovel mix hands down.

Excellent Knife & Holster, but Cheap (& Broken) Sharpening Stone
Very good look and feel, super sharp on both edges, well-made with a full tang. Sheath is very thick leather and well-built. Sharpening stone arrived broken, but still contained in a plastic bag, so neither the knife nor the holster were scratched.

Great product
I had seen Hori Hori knifes on gardening shows and couldn't understand what the fuss was all about now I know this is a great item I used it as soon as I received it to break up some dirt that I had in a very large pot and this knife made a quick and easy job in no time it is very well made and yes before I spent money on this item I did research on other similiar items but this one caught my eye first of all it is Japanese made which speaks quality it came with a sheath and a sharpening stone it is in my opinion very durable has good balance looks great and has a great feel if however you have children in your home which I do not I would put this up high where little hands can not get to it and lastly I love mine if you like to garden or you like sports like hunting or fishing etc I would highly recommend

Best garden tool I've bought
I bought this last year and i use it every day in the garden to nearly the complete exclusion to any other hand tool. It digs, it scrapes, and the blade goes all the way down the handle. I have very rocky soil and it pries up small to medium sized rocks with no issues. The serrated edge is great for sawing down plants and cutting twine. It has clear measurement markers on the side and that makes keeping consistent spacing and depth a breeze.I came back to the listing because I want to make sure I can buy the same one when it eventually goes. Don't bother with the crappy ones from the big box stores, I got one too and it sits in a box somewhere.

Nice hori hori knife
It does the gardening stuff. Serrated edges are a bit dull, same with straight edge. A little sharpening would help, but plunging into dirt so it doesn't matter. Handle is considerably darker than in product picture. ( I was looking forward to brighter handle) I haven't bent it yet, but it has a pretty thick spine. ( I think that's what you call it) It's full tang so it won't separate from handle.( one of the requirements I look for in tools) even for stainless steel it has a haze or oxidation on the blade. I'd have to check on quality of steel again, but should be good enough to play around with in dirt.( a waste of tool steel to play with dirt) anyways a good tool.

Wish I had known about this tool before.
Wish I had known about this tool before. It's really helpful when hand weeding and repotting plants. The sharp edgeis helpful when digging out oak sprouts with long tap roots.

Much larger than I thought!
I bought this as a gift for my mother who is always out in the garden. She is so incredibly happy with the quality and functionality of this knife! It came packaged nicely, with a small sharpening block and a leather storage case. The knife as a whole is heavy and clearly a great quality. The wooden handle is smooth yet durable and made to last and blade itself is thick and sharp. She especially loves the measuring tool that is edged into the blade. When I ordered it I did not pay much attention to the actual size of the knife. I was expecting it to be much smaller and am pleasantly surprised as it is quite large! For the price you CANNOT go wrong! A great addition to any gardeners tool collection.

Good, sturdy gardening tool
This is a good, strong tool, with a triple-rivetted tang. You should know that the straight side is not sharp like a knife. It's sharp like a hoe. The side with teeth is VERY sharp.

Great value!
Awesome tool! Very impressed with the quality in all respects, especially for the price.Knife itself is very sturdy with full tang. Haven't used it a ton, so not sure about the steel's properties, but it's thick enough to withstand a lot of abuse.Handle is wooden and simple. Blocky but comfortable to grip. Rivets hold the scales in place, and then sanded off flush with the wood - it's not super pretty, but as a utilitarian garden tool, it doesn't have to be. Out of the box, the wood felt like it had been given a light oil finish, which is a nice touch, but I added a few extra coats of boiled linseed oil for good measure. The sheath is surprisingly good - much higher quality than I expected. It's made of real leather, not synthetic. It's no hand-crafted masterpiece, but again, it doesn't have to be, and is very functional.

Super handy gardening tool
Love, love, love this gardening knife. It's sharp and pointed so you can cut plants with the blade or dig holes to plant seeds and plants, dig out weeds, or cut open bags of manure or soil, etc. then scoop it out of the bag. Super handy gardening tool.

Better than expected them to be.
Arrived on time and well packaged. Honestly, quality was superior to what I was expecting. Solid build, solid wood scales for the handle, full tang blade. Even the sheath is better quality (appears to be actually leather) that I would have thought it would be. Only used once so far and seem to definitely get the job done without issue. Would order again if needed.
