Good for health, tasty!!! I love them and my dogs love them too!
I have been eating sardines for health reasons, in the past I have purchased sardines in water, thinking they would be nicer to eat and for the most part they were. I took a chance and ordered these packed in olive oil. Once they arrived (nicely packaged BTW, no damaged cans), I opened one, not sure what to expect, I grabbed a fork and ate one of the sardines straight from the can. WOW, was I blown away! The flavor is miles better than the ones in water (which aren't bad to me to begin with). What I didn't want was ones in cotton seed oil (yuck!) or some other questionable oil, these are packed in olive oil and so far they have been heavenly. I eat a couple of cans a week, I've been told that I should consume the oil as well as the sardines, I can do that if I'm mixing it with something, or making a sauce from the oil to go on the sardines. When eating them straight from the can, I just try to get as much of the oil with each bite, and the rest of the oil typically goes to my dogs. One little hint, open it over your sink and have a paper towel handy to set the can on once you open it, the oil mostly stays in the can, but no matter how carefully I open the can, some of the oil always migrates around and drips or gets on the bottom of the can, not a deal breaker, just be aware. I will say again, the flavor is fantastic, not fishy at all, it's very pleasant. Sometimes I sprinkle a little bit of good sea salt on the fish, but mostly I just eat them straight out of the can. I also feed these to my dogs, it's just as healthy for them, I add it to their regular food, a couple of sardines for each dog, they LOVE it, I also dribble in some of the oil, whatever fish doesn't make it into their bowls, I eat (don't tell them!). Bottom line, if you are heating sardines for health and want something tasty, not fishy, easy to eat and priced right, try these.

The quality is there
I have ordered from this brand, I think, seven times now. I have always received high quality cans, only two single cans of which were ever dented, and the expiration dates have been consistently great I have tried the lemon variety, and the mustard variety too, so I'll add some comments on them --- For the Lemon kind - It really wasn't that lemony at all, to a disappointing degree. They were good, yeah, but were kind of the same as the 'in oil' kind with just a HINT of lemon. I wasn't impressed, personally. But the quality of the sardines themselves was still there. 3/5 stars For the mustard kind - These were really good. The mustard wasn't too strong or overpowering. But the sardines were ever-so-slightly dry (which is usually the case with any kind not packaged in oil, I guess?) They were still really good anyway though. 4/5 stars I've tried probably four different brands, and I think this brand is my favorite so far. Also, I like that they source the sardines from a more reputable area I will say, this last batch I ordered seems to be a little saltier than the previous batches I got. That's not REALLY a complaint, though. But it is something I noticed. Again, I don't consider that a bad thing Aside from being a very easy, very convenient meal, (I pair a can with some crackers or bread to soak up the oil) and I didn't actually know/realize this before, but sardines are a really good source of collagen. So, along with the protein and omega-3s and all that, the collagen is something I consider a nice bonus I really don't think you'll be disappointed with this brand. And the price you pay for the amount you get seems like a really good deal to me Edit - I have now also tried the Lightly Smoked kind. Like some other reviewers mentioned, I really couldn't taste any smokey-ness. They just tasted like sardines in neutral oil. So, 5/5 for the sardines, but, I guess, 0/5 for the smokey aspect since it just wasn't there (at least not in the batch I got(?)) The quality is always great with this brand, though, so that's something

Budget friendly option
A STURDY, respectable 3.7, rounded to 4 stars. Review from long-time King Oscar fan: These sardines were an astonishing price which caught my eye; when I went to try them, they’d gone up in price, the flavored ones especially. But still less than King O. Only one gripe: They are a bit over cooked and judging from reviews of “mushy” or “falling apart”, it’s not a one off. If they tweak their cooking time they’ll be a contender for King Oscar sales. Not as good as the premium King Oscar, in taste, texture, or presentation. However, an affordable option without going to the less pleasant BIG fish fillets of the cheap ones. What you don’t get is the glorious, time honored, beautiful rows of fish all lined up. These are not the large fish sardines of budget options. With larger fish the innards can be off-putting. Tho it’s always advisable to look away once you break the fish. 😄 These, I are mechanically dumped by weight and all askew. There’s more oil and less fish it SEEMED, if that’s the case, the price won’t be that much less than the premium KO. I’ll weigh later and update. Definitely a fairly decent, budget friendly option for sardine lovers as is. If they tone down the over cooking, it’ll definitely boost their stars. If a messy tin bothers you, dump them out and line them up with your fork. I kinda like the big package, makes me feel rich! Get your kids to try sardines young. The fish smell is strong and creates resistance to these delicious little fishies when they get older. Few things better on earth than sardines on saltines! 🐠

Much better than I expected
I was very positively surprised. I always avoided this brand because of its silly name. Normally I buy only the expensive brands like FishWife or Patagonia. After reading the reviews I thought let’s give it a try for the price you can’t go wrong! Very tight packed can, with lots of nice size Sardines, no mush. The flavor and texture was spot on! Not too much oil, just perfect for me. I will definitely buy them again!

Tasty and inexpensive
They are tastier than many other, more expensive sardines on the market. I recommend it to everyone who uses sardines regularly, not for a party presentation. Sardines are soft and may fall apart if you try to take them one at a time. It is my thing to go for sardines for my Keto days.

Watered down olive oil
These are ok, but the olive oil is literally watered down (look at the ingredients). The result is that they're a little mushy and lacking that olive oil taste. Probably one of the healthier options at a low price, but don't expect these to be budget King Oscars.

My favorite so far and very good price!
I get these Sardines in Olive Oil in my monthly Amazon Subscribe & Save which is less than $1 per can in October 2024. I've tried various brands and, so far, this is my favorite flavor. I was trying to eat sardines in water, but the flavor hasn't been as appealing. I love these with a little lemon or lime juice. seems to really calm some of that fish flavor. These are lightly smoked which is probably the main reason I really enjoy them. I try to do a sardine fast (sardines only) about 1 day per week. 4 or 5 cans will fill me up in the day and significantly take away the cravings. Highly recommend the olive oil version as it's not as harmful as the seed oils that are in many of the other "sardines in oil" versions. Also these have skin and bones which is healthier for you, too.
