166 American Western Mahjong Set Suitcase Limited Edition Embedded Masterpiece Background in Leather Suitcase The Scream

I looked at a lot of American Mahjong sets before I decided to buy this one, and it is a pleasure to use. (It also works for playing Chinese Mah-jongg.) The first thing that caught my eye was that I had a choice for the design on the backs of the tiles. I could pick one from a group of four different artworks—a Van Gogh self portrait, Edvard Munch’s “The Scream,” Vermeer’s “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” and da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa.”—And there’s a small detail that I hadn’t thought of until the first time I used the set.—-Having a face design on the backs of the tiles makes it instantly easy to arrange them right-side-up in the rack. (Another plus…The set has smooth wooden racks and pushers with an attractive dark finish. The pushers are connected to the racks with little embedded magnets.) It came in its own small, sturdy leather suitcase with reinforced corners. The set looks good and, at barely 11 lbs., it’s easy to carry. One reviewer said the latch failed on his, so I checked the latch on mine as soon as it arrived. Holding it by the handle, I shook it around and even did a windmill circle or two. It held up just fine during my very scientific testing…and it continues to do well after frequent use. I am VERY happy with this Mahjong set.

Beautiful set but the magnet on the case latch doesn't hold. I just tie a scarf around the case to hold it closed. Also the wood racks take a little getting used to, but are much nicer than the plastic ones! The set is so much more reasonably priced than the ones available from the League!

My score comes from 3 criteria. 1) The Tiles themselves. 2) The Racks 3) The Case Overall: Almost had a 5... I gave it a 4 because 1 of the racks is warped/bent. The tiles are good. Smaller like American Mahjong sets are. But able to read clearly. The racks were great except for 1 which is slightly curved, so the rack doesn't stay flush with the pusher. It is bugging the heck out of me. Not sure how a wood rack bends, but it does. So the tiles don't sit flush and can fall off easily. Also can't make a straight line of tiles when showing. Not gonna bother returning because I can live with it and the other 3 racks are solid. Small magnets on the racks. Make sure to turn it 90 degrees so it can push both rows when they are stacked. Plus side is they can hold my 36mm tiles. Can't confirm if they can hold 40mm but looks like they might. The case is a nice color. Seems study. But I question the longevity and durability of the magnetic latch to keep it closed. I thought the 2 straps on the side connect to close but they don't. Either way. I'd totally recommend this set. Looks awesome on my my play mat. My pics show the Mona Lisa's next to my green 36mm tiles

Poor quality …everything from racks to tile suitcases to printing … don’t buy it ( I never give 1 star and this one is the first one )

This looks like it is worth double the money. The leather case makes it even more exquisite. The tiles are beautiful; with Mona Lisa on the back of each tile; showing intricate detail. I gave it to my wife for a much belated birthday present, and she loves it. Shipping was right on time.

Play with this set regularly and everyone loves it. The trays and magnetic pushers are stunning and clever. The tiles are not too slippery. The back orientation of art shows you which way is right side up before you even rack the tiles.
