Why would you want to use that in a shower? If it's for the deodorizing/cleaning powers of the d-limonene, there are recipes online for strengthening dish soap with about 20% of d-limonene, and adding it to cosmetics in about 5% to 10% weight ratio (together with an equal amount of polysorbate 20). Why is a 4 pack of the one gallon container almost twice as expensive per unit as 4 individual containers?

the 4 pack is a different manufacter cleanhandz and is more expensive its made with aloe, vit E, pumice and mineral oil so your hands don't dry out from using.

Does this stuff have a shelf life?

I don't know as it does not say on the bottle. I emailed www.permatex.com asking if it does just now and awaiting their answer. However recently I just finished up a 1.2 Gallon jug I had so that's why I bought this one. For the last few years or so using this jug of Fast Orange I had to dump it out because the pump stopped working. It also had a different constancy but still worked. The reason for these issues is that the jug I just used up was 18 years OLD!! And it did sit in direct sunlight sometimes for the last 5 years. So I would guess with my experience with Fast Orange it has a 20 year shelf life if it is not exposed to direct sunlight, maybe more.This stuff works great and smells good too. I would definitely recommend.Update:www.permatex.com replied super fast to my question. Here is the official answer to your question. All Permatex products have a usable shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture  Date of manufacture can be determined by the first two digits in the lot code on the top (or in some cases bottom) of the package First digit represents the year of manufacture - EX: 4AZ24025 - the 4 indicates production in 2014Second digit represents the month of the year the product was made - EX: 4AZ24025 - A indicates product produced in January
