Is it good for primari drive and OS installation?

Hi Alexander, the Purple Series was developed to be turned on 24/7 and are very reliable. As it was developed to arquive files the need to be available all the time it spin at just 5400 rpm. Way too slow for the big systems available today. It,s ideal to put a 7200rpm disk or even a SSD to boot. In my computer I have a 256GB SSD disk to boot and the main programs and two 2TB 7200rpm drives to other files. So I don´t think the purple drive is good to use as a boot disk.

Will this drive go into my q-see surveillance system model qt5682 which has a 1tb and i'm wanting to upgrade to a 2tb drive.

Yes, yes it will. I have a 3TB drive of this series in my qsee system (QC448) for over 1 1/2 years now running 24/7 and not one hickup so far. These are the best drives for surveillance but not excluded other purposes (in my case file server)

Can you replace a 2.0 with a 4.0?

Yes, most DVRs and NVRs support 2TB hard drive and larger.
