Powerful suction for a lightweight vacuum
This is my second Shark vacuum cleaner - I thought the first one did a good job, but this one does a great job. The suction is incredibly powerful for such a lightweight vacuum. It does a good job getting up dust and pet hair, too. The self-propelled feature is also powerful, maybe a bit too powerful because it wants to move quickly. The cord length is ample. I wish it had more tools - it only comes with three. I have used the removable handheld vacuum as well as the floor stick - both are easy to use. My only minor complaint is that the dust bin is a little more difficult to empty - the release lever doesn't open and automatically "dump" the contents. You have to pull the cup open which requires two hands. I do recommend this item.

Great value
I’m in my 70’s and needed a lighter easier vacuum. I got the Shark vertex on sale and I love it more than the Rainbow I previously had. It’s half as heavy and almost as powerful. Switching to carpet mode with the press of a button is fabulous! It performs well on carpets, wood and tile. The cord is a perfect length and the maintenance is simple. Plus it is very compact. I’ ve used it for almost a year I think and i have no complaints.I highly recommend the Shark Vertex for it’s value, performance and ease of use.

This is a nice lightweight, stick vacuum
I've used this vacuum for several weeks now and think that for the price it's a very good performer. It works well on carpets and hard surface floors. It has very good suction. And I like that I can easily remove a section of the stick too shorten the vac to use on the stairs. Overall I would says it's a well built and good performing vacuum. As for the cons of this vacuum: the dirt canister seems a bit small so that I end up emptying it fairly often. And being a light weight vac with a lot of it's weight up near the handle, it seems that when pulling it back towards you when you are vacuuming, it's easy to lift the vacuum head unit off the carpet. I can live with the first item because it's not hard to empty or clean out the dirt canister. And if I slow myself down I can keep the vacuum head in contact with the carpet all the time. I can live with these issues considering the overall performance of the vac versus the price. If I had paid Dyson money I would return it. But it's doing a good job for me at a bargain price. I'm happy with my purchase.

Favorite vaccuum yet
Great vacuum especially for people who shed a lot and have long hair. Other vacuums I’d have to use a seam ripper to remove all the hair that’s been stuck, but this one collects the hair very organized so you can just easily empty it. It folds up really well for easy storage. Not very portable because it’s corded but the cord is pretty long. The suction is strong and loud but gets the job done fast. The light is a plus to know where you’re looking.

This Vacuum Cleaner will need to be replaced over a few years.
I bought this vacuum cleaner in 2022 for $290. I initialing loved it as it handled my shag area rugs and floors. I loved the light on the floor device. It seemed efficient, easy to use, and very convenient to use. In less than a year I had to replace the duo clean power fin brush roll even while it was under warranty, as this part was not covered for $52.00. While using the Shark, the power would stop as it seemed to overheat. I had to turn it off for 45 minutes until it decided to work again. This was very annoying. I bought $60 worth of filters and changed them regularly. In 2025 the motor seemed to make loud noise frequently and I had to turn it off an wait for it to work again. This happened frequently enough to annoy me and interrupt my cleaning. Finally the noise got so bad and the motor started to smell. It actually burnt out the rotors, I am assuming. I researched online and it had a warning that it could start a fire. The horrible sound became permanent and I now have to buy a new vacuum cleaner. In the early 1980's I bought a Miele canister that was expensive for my budget, but it now still works while several accessories have been replaced. It does not handle my area shag rugs very well, as it was the older stye for bare floors. I am now going to buy a Miele Blizzard CX1 bagless, for $599. 00, that will handle the shag rug. I should have bought this back in 2022, but I wanted to save money. I still want to save money but I have gone through numerous vacuum cleaners over time and all died, except for the Miele. Lesson learned the Miele is excellent German engineering and I should have bought this years ago, as an upgrade to carpeted floors.

BEST VACUUM CLEANER I'VE EVER OWNED! LOVE IT.
NEW this model, in the Blue had everything I wanted in a vacuum and sells here at Amazon for $282. plus tax. I found this exact model for LESS in the Amazon Warehouse for only $173. plus tax. It was marked as either as Very Good or Like New, and came in the original box. This means someone used it and didn't like it and returned it during their window of time. I read TONS of reviews before choosing this Brand, Shark, and this Model, the Vertex. I did not want a cordless because I don't want to be waiting around for it to charge. I wanted the power of a corded model.Lately I have bought several Items from Amazon from their Warehouse. ALL of them have been like NEW and no one would know they were ever opened up or maybe used a few times. These items for some unknown reason though, DO take a LOT longer BEFORE they leave the warehouse and ship. Once they ship they usually arrive very quickly. I could not afford to buy this model NEW so I was willing to wait, in my case about a month to get this deal.Pros: I could not be happier. This vacuum far exceeds what I had expected. It is SO powerful and so strong. It does a great job of vacuuming both carpet and hard flooring. I have used it to get tons of cat fur off the walls which was one of the reasons I bought it. With 4 indoor only cats the fur is everywhere. It's easy to use and I love not having to buy bags.Cons: The not so great? Well, it IS loud, but I'm used to that. It's heavier than I wanted, so I have to take more breaks to give my arm a rest. The worst thing about it is how hot the motor gets. I don't know if this is a design flaw or a bad unit? Knowing all the cons I would STILL buy this particular vacuum. Compared to pushing around a much heavier, bulkier upright body this is still considered a lightweight Vacuum Stick but rivals any full size vacuum I've ever used. Could not be happier at the deal and the item.

Good Bang for the Buck
PROS: Very light and easy to handle, good all-around performanceCONS: Poor edge cleaning with powerhead, small dirt cupThe very maneuverable floor powerhead has two speed settings for bare floor and carpet. Both settings work well, although getting very close to edges isn't possible: there is about an inch on each side and 1/2 inch or so in front that does not see any suction or brush action. A quick pass with the wand and brush attachment may be needed along some edges. The upholstery attachment works pretty well considering that its beater bar is spun by an air turbine rather than its own motor. This method does steal some suction to spin the agitator, and some care must be taken not to bear down and stall it completely, but with a light touch it does a good enough job at removing pet hair from the sofa. The dirt cup is small; count on emptying it a few times but this is so quick and easy to do it turns out to be not that much of a bother. The unit will not stand freely without falling over when it is fully assembled, so a hook feature has you hang the vacuum unit near its base for storage. A minor nuisance, but it does take up a bit less closet space this way.I can't speak to durability, but the injection-molded construction looks reasonably sturdy and the parts fit together well. So far at least, no long hair has gotten tangled in either of the beater mechs, which is quite a feat in our house. Even so, if any clearing is needed a lot can be accessed without needing any tools.UPDATE after 5 months of weekly use:The beater for the upholstery tool doesn't spin up quite as fast as when new, but still works. All the bearings that support the impeller fan and the beater are plastic and run without lubrication, so wear is inevitable, even though the assembly is easy to take apart and clean. Time will tell if it continues to get worse; I expect lubricating them will only attract more dirt, so for now I'll wait and see.Just a reminder to stay on top of keeping the filters clean. A thermal cutout protects the motor when it is struggling too hard, but it still got hot enough to distort the nearby plastic by the time it shut the motor down. Fortunately, a replacement motor filter cover was available from Shark's online store, and my carelessness only cost $13.

Suction!! lightweight, long cord, perfect
BOY does this vacuum have suction ! My other Shark vacuum worked great but it quit after a year and a half so I bought this one and it is FANTASTIC. so lightweight, easy to switch from hard floor to carpet floor, suction is awesome and the cord is a longer length than my previous Shark. For the price it is the cat's meow. I just hope it lasts longer than my first Shark vacuum. So far I am delighted.

Amazing Suction
I was influenced to buy this after having constant wait times with my cordless vacuum to charge in order to complete all of the rooms in my home. I cannot believe the suction and love the compact size! It’s easy to use and even self propels, making less work for you! It’s also very clean to toss the bin and maintain the vacuum itself. The weight is very manageable and the cord a great length to cover the areas and not have to replug several times per room. I really love this vacuum, but wish there were .5 star ratings because I do have a complaint, the vacuum does not stand up!!! When not in use it has to be mounted or carefully placed against a wall for storage, as it won’t simply stand in a closet or storage room, etc. I so wish it would and it would honestly be the perfect vacuum!

Really sucks!
This stick vac really sucks! Bought on a whim, because of a nice sale price and sheer frustration with my old stick vac. (I’m comparing this product to a cordless Dyson stick vac that I’ve had for a few years - I realize I’m not comparing apples to apples but I was very frustrated by my Dyson’s sub optimal results). Pleasantly surprised by the ease of use and its weight, this little beast is fantastic! Sure it’s corded, but wow it sucks well. It gets a bit warm to touch and blows warm air out after second carpeted room. It has a smaller debris bin so I’ve emptying it when it appears full. We have two shedding dogs and this vac does awesome! It does a really great job overall and I really like the ease of use. I would recommend this powerful little stick vac.

Great, but with some faults
I’ve had this vacuum for several months now, upgraded from a cheaper Shark. Overall I’m really happy with my purchase. This vacuum has good suction, a light on the base so you can see exactly where you’re vacuuming, and a couple attachments like an extender tube for corners, and a mini vacuum head attachment which I use for pet furniture. 4 stars because I feel the mini head feels cheap - specifically the plastic that attaches to the main tube, it feels like it could shatter and doesn’t have perfect suction. Also the placement of some of the non moveable hooks towards the bottom feel like a design fault - if you’re using it under furniture they hook to it and you can’t easily pull the vacuum out without crouching. The mini tube also seems to fall off the attachment as well if you lightly bump it. That being said, the suction is great compared to my previous model, it really does well in pulling up lost debris and pet hair both on hardwood/tile, and low pile carpet.
