The only left handed trackball around
This is my third purchase of an Elecom mouse. I purchased this because my hand and wrist were so painful from the mouse work I do every day at work. My fingers were numb, and my wrist felt like it was broken. And then after work, I play on my personal computer. Just a few weeks of this mouse, the pain was completely gone. My most recent purchase was the mouse with the red ball. Which does improve the experience. My only complaint is that older black balls frequently need cleaning and greasing to keep rolling smoothly. The red ball seems to help for some reason.I wanted to note for people with issues with the software installing in Japanese. I've installed the software on my personal computer, but not on my work computer. Software installation isn't allowed. You technically do not need to install the software. This mouse is plug and play. The special options for the different buttons do require the software to an extent, however, I don't use the options that require it. Assigning the different buttons *may* need the software, but I've found for me, it's not required. I can still control the sound with the sound buttons, etc.The only caveat I have is, if you are a lefty who uses the buttons like a right, meaning left button is the action button, and the right button is the menu button, if you have to have tech support remote into your computer, the buttons are backwards for them. I always have to let them know a left click is actually a right click. The buttons are okay for me, but not for them, for some reason. Tech support are pretty smart, they'll figure it out.Lastly, I wanted to let others know, I see a lot of complaints about the software installing in Japanese. You can select English. However, without knowing where that is, it's hard to do. I've highlighted where to make that selection. Once you've changed it, you should be good to go. The drop down in the bottom left corner of the first tab is where you need to go.This mouse is totally worth the aggravation it gives me sometimes. I have no more pain. I use one 8-10 hours per day, and the other most of the remaining hours, plus weekends (I'm on a computer A LOT) After almost 60 years of being a lefty, this is one of the few items that I haven't been able to find that works well for a lefty, and that's a shame.

Great for lefties and ambies
I've had this for a few years now, and it works great! Battery life seems decent; buttons are responsive, includes left and right scroll by tilting the wheel, extra programmable buttons (I never use), and two speeds. Easy to clean: Pop the ball out and wipe the dust off the glides. I now have three: for home, office, and travel.

Solid Budget Trackball – Worth the Adjustment Period
Switching from a traditional mouse to a trackball wasn’t easy, but this ELECOM EX-G made the transition much smoother than I expected. It takes a bit of getting used to, but once you adjust, it can actually be quite comfortable and efficient for daily use. This is definitely a budget-friendly option, so don’t expect premium materials — but it’s surprisingly durable and feels well-built for the price. The ergonomic design is great for long hours, and the programmable buttons are a nice touch. One small issue I’ve noticed is that the trackball occasionally feels like it gets stuck or doesn’t roll as smoothly. I’m not sure if that’s just part of the learning curve with trackballs (this is my first one) or a minor flaw in the product. Either way, it hasn’t really interfered with my ability to work.Overall, a solid entry-level trackball mouse that offers good value and functionality once you get past the initial adjustment.

Brilliant! (2 things I needed to know)
I was on my way to giving this item a one-star rating when the product information page told me two important things I needed to know. If there was an instruction manual, I sure as heck missed these features. After discovering them, the product gets a 5-star rating, hands, down. Those items:1. The hole in the bottom is the "Trackball Removal Hole". Egad. Who knew?Push firmly on the trackball with the end of a pen, and out it pops for cleaning the ball & the receptacle.(I had been able to blow off lint on the trackball with compressed air. But in this case large wad of lint hadgotten itself trapped in the receptacle. No amount of compressed air could blow it out. After discoveringhow to remove the ball, it's a brand-new, wonderfully-working trackball!)2. The little SWITCH ON TOP is priceless.Push it forward, you see red. It's in high speed mode, ready to zip around like lightning.Pull it back, and the red disappears. It's in slow-speed snail mode, ready for precise positioning withoutevery little tremor sending it to the edge of the screen. (I've been living with slow speed, so I could placefor precision when I need it. But I didn't have to compromise! Who knew?Like I said, I was about to give the device a one-star rating, and immediately upgraded to five stars. Looking at the "manual" online, all I see is a description of the parts. Nothing at all about these two CRITICAL, ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL features. ((Advice for the manufacturer: TELL people, man!)

Easy to use, comfortable, requires batteries
Excellent product, easy to use and very comfortable. The only drawback is that it uses batteries. My right handed mouse came with a charging cord which is much more convenient.Initially thought the one I got was defective -- then I found out I was putting the batteries in backward. Once that was sorted out, everything worked great.

Inconsistent performance, needs constant cleaning
Purchased 8 months ago and I have battled with inconsistent performance after about 3 months of use. the tracking ball either needs to be cleaned and dust removed from sensors or one needs to press harder and harder to get the sensors to work. Highly recommend looking elsewhere if you use the mouse on a daily basis.
