Make Your Own Bungee Cords
These hook ends are surprisingly durable and reliable. Once correctly affixed to the ends of any length of stretch cord, they stay in place, wont marr surfaces, and are just large enough to grab any ring-type fastener. To hang onto larger hooks or rails, simply use the hooks to make loop ends that can go around almost anything. I use these to quickly stabilize my canoe atop my SUV, as well as for a myriad of other things in my home and shop.

Proper construction is critical
I purchase marine grade bungee cord from the Sgt. Knots store on Amazon. This cord survives in the sun very well compared to others. So I purchased 1/4 inch bungee to fit these hooks (and a few loops). If you are using outdoors for extended periods I strongly recommend this UV protected cord. I was somewhat taken aback when I received these hooks. The hooks are substantially smaller than I had anticipated. This is OK for my use but others may have issues. See pic for compare to size of quarter. There are no assembly instructions. I think the seller should, at least, provide basic info to ensure you don't hurt yourself, see below. The really important thing is the construction of the cord/hook. It is difficult to get the 1/4 inch cord into the hook receiver socket. Be persistent, the cord WILL fit, you just need to work it some. The issue is you need to be sure you fully seat the bitter end of your cord into the receiver socket. The second pic shows the cord improperly seated, you can see the bitter end of the cord is just touching the fitting. The socket is about 1/4 inch deep, you must push your cord into it completely else the cord will pull out. The third photo shows the cord fully seated, all you see is clean cord going into the socket. After you complete a cord be absolutely sure to give it a hard pull test and protect yourself when you do. If the fitting gives way during the test you could put out an eye with the whip back that happens if a fitting fails to hold the cord. So it is really important you do this correctly. You DO NOT want one of these giving way under tension, esp if there are kids or pets or your face in the vicinity. edit 4/8/24: I saw another commenters post about inability to secure the bungee in the hook (or loop) socket. He included pictures of his attempted construction. I had the exact same problem initially. It is very very important that the end of the bungee is a good clean and flat cut so be careful when you prepare your cord. Also you must use a heat source (lighter flame will work) to melt and lock any frayed material at the bitter end of your cut line. This prevents the sheath of the bungee from unraveling and the unraveling will prevent you from obtaining a solid closure. If you are doing a lot of these, buy a "hot knife" here on Amazon (about $20) which both cuts the cord and seals the sheath at the same time. This just reinforces my point that the seller should provide some clear instructions as to how these should be assembled!! They can be dangerous if they let go under tension.

Great Items
I do NOT usually post reviews, as I feel most of them are fake, and most, like me, don't make decisions solely on them. In fact, I only leave reviews on the JUNK I catch! THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT! I have had a lot of unpleasant surprises lately with these types of items, but this purchase was SO GOOD, I had to be honest and let folks know. The circumference of ALL of the hooks mating surfaces were 0,356" +/- 0.001, if that! The ID of the collars was ALL 0.3575" on the money. They went on snug, but went on, even if pliers were needed to finish the install. THANK YOU! ONE great purchase out of a dozen from different companies makes, makes you my Go-To folks!

Cut each application to desired length. Too easy and works great.
These bungee do an excellent job of holding your rods securely as you travel from spot to spot in your boat. Never worry about a rod bouncing out of your boat again.

Does not work for 1/4 in shock cords for me
These look a lot like what I had bought for a dollar a piece from a fabric store, so are a much better value, which motivated my purchase to try them out. I received twenty-hooks and eight eyelet ends versus the twenty and six advertised, so it is very nice the seller included extras. The good news pretty much ends there though. The fabric store sold this size ends for use with 3/16" shock cords, not 1/4". I am not able to fit 1/4" shock cords from Sgt Knots into these. I also have cord hooks from the fabric store which are meant to be used with 1/4" cord, and they are significantly bigger than the hooks from this listing. The inclusion of the eyelets made this listing very attractive to me. Alas, the eyelet ends are meant to be screwed down, i.e. not used with the hooks. The eyelet hole is not big enough for the hook to go through. I am not sure it's worth the effort and risk of breakage to drill the eyelet holes bigger so the hook can pass through. The shank of the hook is slightly smaller than the eyelet end, and the result is somewhat unsatisfying. The locking cylinder slides on and off easily on the hook, fortunately it does hold the cord in place when the ring is installed. However, I have some concerns about the locking cylinder being inadvertently slipped off (yes, it is that loose), at which point cord retention fails. The locking cylinder is difficult to put on the eyelet end. Strong hands or tools are needed to use the eyelet ends. The Knipex plier wrench I have worked great for pushing the locking cylinder onto the shank. These terminals do not meet the published specifications - I cannot use 1/4" shock cords with these terminals. I can theoretically use the hook ends with 3/16" cord, but then have failure concerns. Those concerns can possibly be alleviated by gluing the rings onto the shank during installation, which makes these non-reusable terminals. Strong value (quantity and variety of terminals included in the purchase price) saves this item and earns it a three-star rating.

Pleasantly surprised! :>0
I could not believe how strong these hooks are. I used them with 1/4" bungee and they worked better than my expectations! Thanks for making such a great product! And, I just found out that they've been around for years! Wish I'd known sooner!

5 seconds to Assemble or they don't work
They work, I like them, trusting that they are durable. Purchased for use with 1/4" SGT Knots Marine Grade Bungie Cord. However, you have about 5 seconds to assemble the end before it becomes impossible to assemble and you are forced to cut the cord again. I do see in the instructions mention of "spray" and there is a suggestion to iron it. Who wants an extra step like that, and I am not even sure what that means? "Some cord sprays too much after your cutting, so they can't fit into the hook directly. You can iron the end of the cut to make it fit the hook" I tried several methods, flame, trimming. What I found works is have your tools and parts close at hand, scissor cut your bungee, and very quickly push the bungee into the connector. Be sure to pre mount the collar!

Need wide jaw pliers to complete assembly
Works well but you need a wife jaw pliers to bet the collar on. With such it is easy.
