... JUST a phone! No complications ... No contracts!
Okay, this review is for people who are looking for JUST a phone! This flip phone has no internet and doesn't even have the capability for it so if that is a must then you can stop reading here and move on. (Lively DOES make a simple smart-phone but I never used it so I cannot comment on any of its features or functionality.) HOWEVER, if you are looking to have a phone just to keep in contact with others through a call or a simple text or for an emergency situation ... THIS is your phone! I was skeptical at first but after quite a few years and having switched over myself, my husband, AND my son I think I speak for my whole family in saying that this is a great product! My family has computers and tablets and smart TVs all over the house and we use them frequently ... but all we really needed out of a cell phone was the phone part. Going somewhere and paying potentially THOUSANDS of dollars for a phone seemed silly so after looking around and seeing TV commercials I decided to give Lively and their Jitterbug phone a chance. Not disappointed! In my area, (N.J.), we've always been with Verizon service and there didn't seem to be any difference in call quality or reception when we switched to Lively. The phone is simple and intuitive with easy menus and large, easy-to-read text. You do have the ability to store contacts, take photos and videos, block numbers, have Voicemail, set alarms, and send text messages. Since it is a flip phone, to text you have to do the old 1990's phone thing of pressing each button a few times to get the right letter ... so if you wanted the letter "C" you'd have to press the number 2 button 3 times to go from A to B to C ... if you're older you know and if you're younger you will learn quickly! ;-) The sound quality is loud and clear and the battery life will easily last all day and then you just plug it in or throw it in the charging cradle at night. The service per month is very inexpensive. For unlimited talk and text I pay around $27 per month. The phone itself is YOURS! You'll pay whatever the price is ... at the time of this review on AMAZON it was $35 for the red flip ... and the phone is yours ... NO contracts, NO payments, no nothing! If your phone breaks you can EASILY get a new phone for WAY cheaper than you'd pay to have someone even look to repair your current smart phone! If your worried about having a brand new number don't be! It is VERY likely you will be able to transfer your old cell number ... or even your house landline number, if you still have one, to your new flip phone just do NOT stop your current cell service until you have transferred the number to THIS phone!!! If you DO buy this phone and want to transfer your number just have your current phone statement handy when you call to activate your new phone. Lively Customer Service is easy like Sunday morning! I don't think in all the times I called, which was mostly to activate new phones, have I ever waited on hold for longer than a minute or two. All reps that I have spoken with are polite and easy to understand. So if you want a MUCH less complicated phone ... don't need/want all that internet stuff (Which you can easily do from home on a real computer or laptop) ... want to pay LESS for the physical phone and the plan and don't want to be locked into a contract ... then THIS is your phone!!! TRY IT ... it has a lot of value for the price and I think you'll be hooked if you give it a chance! Hope you enjoy your purchase ... be safe and God Bless!!!

Fantastic phone, setup with an agent only
I got this phone for my lady friend's Mom. I think this is a great device, the sound is wonderful, very easy to use. What they don't tell you: many different plans to choose and unless you setup your phone online ( which I tried several time @ $25, you must set it up with an agent @ $35. The phone is low priced @ $48 and is feature packed. The minimum ( cheap) package is $14.99 but it's only 300 minutes and three hundred texts. I move her to unlimited talk and text for an additional $5. The gentleman I spoke with was great; he tried hard to upsell me to the next higher package. So it's up to you. And Lively only runs on their network. My friends Mom stays home, it gets signal so no worries!Fantastic phone

Not Consumer Cellular Compatible
The Jitterbug 2 is not compatible with Consumer Cellular. You’d need a SIM card. Setup took under 5 minutes. Porting over a number can take up to 2 business days.

Well built phone
I bought this for my dad's birthday. He wanted this flip phone for the larger buttons and the emergency response button. He's 91 years old and it gives me peace of mind knowing he has it. The phone is as described. The first thing I noticed right out of the box was the weight. Very heavy phone compared to the flip phone he has from tmobile. I can see from that it is very well made, but the weight may be a problem for him carrying it in his pocket compared to the light, cheaper phone he has now. But, I'm sure he'll get used to it. In his area, he'll be using Verizon as the service provider. As I said before, he is on t-mobile now, we'll see how that works out. That's about all I can say right now, as I haven't set it up for him yet. But, the it seems to be a well built, quality phone, with the larger screen and bigger buttons. It was packaged well and delivered quickly.

Complete Disaster for Elderly Users – AVOID This Phone!
Complete Disaster for Elderly Users – AVOID This Phone! I regret upgrading my 92-year-old mother’s flip phone to this “new and improved” version. The previous model worked perfectly for her—she could simply open the phone and it would ask, “Who do you want to call?” She would say a name, it would confirm, and then dial. Simple and effective, exactly what she needed. This “upgrade” is a nightmare. Instead of keeping the user-friendly, straightforward design, this phone now tries to force the use of Alexa as a "smart" assistant. The setup process alone is a maze. You have to link the phone to an Amazon account, then connect it to the Alexa Lively Skill, log into Lively, name the phone, and then go back to the phone and finish the linking. Even after completing all these steps, the Alexa skill might work some of the time, but only if you give a convoluted command like, “Alexa, ask Lively to call...” and then finally say the name. This is beyond frustrating for a tech-averse elderly person! This phone is supposed to be designed for people who don’t want, or cannot deal with, complicated technology. But it’s riddled with issues. After spending three hours on the phone with Lively tech support, I managed to get it working… for about 10 minutes. Then it inexplicably stopped. I called support again, and we had to unlink and relink everything. It worked—for a short time—only to stop again. This phone is absolutely unreliable. To make matters worse, when we tried to revert back to her old phone, we learned that Lively no longer supports it! So now we’re stuck with a phone that is essentially unusable for my mother, who can barely see or operate a regular smartphone. If you are considering this phone for a senior, especially someone with visual impairments or minimal tech experience, DO NOT buy it. It’s not just frustrating; it’s completely unfit for the purpose it’s marketed for. This phone is a waste of time, and I regret the decision to upgrade. Avoid at all costs if you care about functionality and simplicity!

Great phone and service for elderly users. Highly recommenG
Bought for my 89 year old mother. Phone is easy to use, loud ring tone, she can hear callers, emergency service is available at an affordable cost in case of emergency. Tried various flip phones, this was the best. Highly recommend.

Too many options for 90 year old momma.
My 90 year old mom had the first Jittlerbug flip phone, not smart phone, which unfortunately is no longer available. This phone is much too complicated for her and has too many options. There are too many steps in order to make a phone call. There is no ability to change the screen or alter it. This is useless for her. I'm giving it 3 star not necessarily because my mom cannot use it, but that it is not intuitive for many seniors. So sad the original flip is no longer available. Mom needs a phone to make phone calls and nothing else.
