Quick fix.
In my case worked well. As I had access to the end of my pipe on the manhole, that is that it went in at a higher level than the main through pipe, I could just push in end of pipe with a little washing up liquid for lubrication. Ok it's made of plastic but the price matches this. I do put some oil on spring occasionally to try to prevent rust and breakage and it won't last forever. I will buy a spare sometime for that occasion.

seems really good quality for the price
Nice tight push fit for a 110mm (4inch) pipe and a strong enough spring to stop the valve swinging or flapping around. I'm using it on an outdoor surface water pipe as a rodent barrier so only have water behind it and for me its very good valve for money. Im not sure how it would fair with sewage behind it , I can imagine it might build up due to the resistance of the spring?

Worked well although a bit flimsy but great for price

Best to avoid
What you’d expect for the price. Was very easy to install and fitted very securely in the pipe. The base does sit quite high form the base of the pipe which leaves a fairly high lip for stuff to catch on. It seemed to work for a few weeks but upon last inspection (after 2 and a half months being installed) the rats are getting past it as there was a large pile of soil in the corner of the chamber again and you could see where the rat had been digging. (The chamber it was used on was a Victorian brick built one and the bricks stop short of the top in places) also the rubber around the outer edge of the device was extremely chewed up. Though I’d say they are getting past the door part as they hadn’t chewed it to the point it came out or made a large enough hole.

Good item does the job
Advised by pest control agent to fit and it seems to have deterred the vermin as no longer any signs of activity in the area.

Flap bit flimsy
Poor built, flap mechanism too much movement; flaps keeps coming undone when installing, apprehensive whether it will last, or cause more problems. Lucky my manhole one is shallow (400mm) and large acesss so can tend too it. Deeper narrower manholes, will be hard!!

Works well at the moment
The rat cover is easy to fit in a standard drain, it just pushes in. My only concern is, it is spring loaded and not sure if the spring is made of stainless steel. Also the flap being plastic although it works fine at the moment not sure how well it will withstand Rats teeth and claws.
