Minwax 308240000 Wood Finishing Cloths, Dark Mahogany, 8 Piece

These staining wipes are so easy and so convenient to use! I have a pretty large wooden front door/entry way area. The front door was so faded from the sun, it was just awful looking. I did have to use some elbow grease to sand the door but staining it with these wipes was easy. I ordered 2 packs but 1 of them was dried out so I had to exchange them. Replacement pack was perfect. I used maybe 6 wipes total on this project and wore gloves as not to get stain all over my hands. I don’t think I’ll need another coat, as the wipes have enough stain on them to go over everything once.

I was amazed at these wipes. I purchased out of curiousity because I had a small piece of wood that I wanted to stain to make a wall decor sign. I didn't want to buy a can I might not use again. The wipes provided full coverage for the piece of wood. I use only one wipe to apply two coats to the back, front and all four sides. I think I probably could have stained something else with that same wipe. It was easy to apply, quality of the stain was the same if not better than what I've gotten from the cans. I chose a mahogany color which came out looking beautiful.

Minwax Wood Finish is easy to apply and gives a rich, even color that really highlights the wood grain. The finish looks great and dries fairly quickly. A reliable choice for both small DIY projects and furniture refinishing. Only down side is that I wish I could later it to get a darker color. Doesn't really do much.

I used these wipes to stain and finish my mobile pieces. The ship's wheel piece is the main part thay was stained, but all pieces were stained in order to make the gold paints over the portholes pop more. I really liked this product and was very confused to read the negative reviews. Here's a few clarifying points: •When reviewers say "good for small projects," that's rather subjective. It would have been very silly for me to buy a whole can of stain for an 11" x 14" mobile, but these wipes worked great. Would I use these to finish an end table like the lady in the video did? No, just get a sample can of stain and call it a day. •Your first pass with the wipe does go on rather thick. The way I found that worked best was to thoroughly wipe down one side of my project, flip it to wipe down the other (non-visible in the finished product) side, and then go back over the front with the stain wipe to smooth out any drips/concentrated areas. 1 minute or so later, wipe off the excess with a towel. Worked great. •Not sure who I need to say this for, but you still need to sand after you stain. I also finished my pieces with clear acrylic paint and then sanded that, and the end result was nice and smooth - almost soft. Definitely use this for small or flat projects. If your finished piece is bigger than a microwave, just get the can of stain and a brush.

The color was right on but the stain on the cloth in my opinion was too thick and hard to spread evenly leaving dark and light areas as I applied. The gloves included were totally inadequate ( had to use disposable ones from another source) but stain was easily removed from hands with soap and water and a bit of scrubbing. This method is convenient but I think I’ll stick with the regular more controllable stain in the future. Wish they had a nail polish this color.

I loved these! I refinished the tops of my bedroom furniture and my stairs with them. After a light sanding, I applied a mahogany stain over very light finished wood. The coverage was excellent and the finish was flawless.

This is one of the worst products I have ever used!! The video about it showed some woman using it to stain a peice of furniture. She took the wipe and rubbed it across the wood, and it just glided on so smoothly, almost effortlessly.I thought it would be just that easy. WRONG!!! When I opened the package( that was completely sealed). I made the mistake of not testing it first on some wood scrap. And when I began to apply it, it was a half dry, sticky mess. I had to use a lot of pressure to cover it, and the cloth kept stopping and dragging on the wood. There were bare spots, and when I tried to go back and cover them, the cloth would stick and the stain sometimes balled up. And every where I held it while staining it. There are dark blotches where my fingers were. And I even used brand new powder free latex gloves to keep it clean and keep the stain off of my hands. The stain went on very uneven, and it is supposed to be Maple. Which is supposed to be a Yellowish golden brown color, and this turned out looking Orange. It doesn’t look at all natural. Like any, really good wood stain would. I have used stain numerous times before and always had good results. The thing that made so angry, is that this is a Minwax product. And I have always had positive experiences with this brand. I trusted again. And this time It ruined my project. I had both time and money in this project. And now it looks like crap. I won’t ever buy this product again. And J might not use Minwax products again either.

I wanted something quick and easy for small jobs but effective enough to use on a larger project if needed, so I ordered this product. I could see see by the fully loaded stain-soaked cloths which came out of the package moist that it was fresh when received and ready to go. Of course, this is messy to apply, so wear your gloves and open a window! I've had a hard time matching stained trim in my kitchen which have some nicks and scratches, but the mahogany color worked like a charm, which surprised me for an out-of-package item. On a personal note: I've worked with self-close packages before, which is what these cloths come in, and if I don't use the whole package of cloths right away they tend to dry out quickly. To avoid that happening, I always place these packages in a gallon zip baggy and seal it to keep air out and product moist. Also, if I use a cloth for a quick touch up and it still has lots of stain on it, I will put it in a baggy, too, with a few drops of water. I have a good result re-using the cloth for other quick touch-ups. My way of saving money!

Arrived dry and not useful

This was easy to use and worked very well for taking care of touch ups on pieces of furniture.

I had badly scratched and damaged floors from my dogs ripping up the hardwood. In just one quick application, they floors look new, and scratches are gone. Even deep gouges are looking good.

It doesn't show any grain in trhe wood. It's more like smearing on paint but it's tougher than paint and it does cover the wood wear and marks well. I sealed mine as well because the first time I used this product it was on a wooden bathroom vanity top. Every soap mark or good wiping to clean the top, took off the 'stain'. I think sealing it will help that.

These are very useful. It is unfortunate that they are so expensive.
