It's a pin made into the back of this brooch, you just open it stick it on your garment and close the attachment. I don't know the size but it not very small are too larger. Sizing for me was perfect.

I don't know what kind of metal it is. It could be copper? It has not bothered me, but I do not know if it is hypoallergenic. I do enjoy wearing the pin, it is very lovely.
