A great starter SCOBY to get you on Kombucha brewing!
Very good quality for scoby and pellicle. I'm currently on my 5th batch of brew since using this starter. They also provide starter tea and sugar in measured quantities along with a printout of written instructions to help you get started which is pretty great. However, I would advice you to start tasting your brew early on from day 4 or 5 onwards instead of a minimum 10 as advised by the paper instructions. For queries relating to whether your brew is looking okay or has caught mold/kahm yeast, I would highly recommend that you visit r/Kombucha forum on Reddit. They have a starter post that has a neat documentation of what you need to look out for to ensure your brew is perfect.

Best starter kit.
I have bought starter kit 2 times before from other sellers. This is the best scoby I have received till date,it is very thick and mature. And the written instructions and the tea powder and sugar are an added advantage.

High Quality Healthy Scoby
I am impressed. I never cultured Kombucha but followed detailed steps suggested on package. I am 4 days in and I already see new scoby growing. It would also be great to include more notes about multiple scobys and separating them. Videos can help better than description. But all in all good quality product

Sheer magic
𝓡𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓪𝓵𝓪 𝓟𝓸𝓵𝓸 & 𝓞𝓻𝓰𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓬 𝓕𝓪𝓻𝓶𝓼. Kombucha is a fermented tea rich in probiotics, antioxidants & vitamins. Potential health benefits include improved gut health, heart health, mental health & weight management. The drink may also assist specific health conditions, such as type 2 diabetes management, liver health & cancer. Kombucha contains antioxidants Antioxidants are compounds found in food that help protect your body. They can help reduce inflammation, support your immune systems and reduce DNA damage. Kombucha provides similar benefits to green tea & protect against conditions like diabetes & cancer. It also contains probiotics, which benefit your gut microbiome. People have consumed kombucha, a type of fermented tea, for thousands of years. Not only does it have the same health benefits as tea — it’s also rich in beneficial probiotics. Kombucha also contains antioxidants, can kill harmful bacteria, & may help fight several diseases. The top health benefits of kombucha, based on scientific evidence. 1. Kombucha contains probiotics. Kombucha is thought to originate in Japan. It’s made by adding specific strains of bacteria, yeast, & sugar to black or green tea & then allowing it to ferment for a week or more. During this process, bacteria & yeast form a mushroom-like film on the surface of the liquid. This is why kombucha is also known as “mushroom tea.” This blob is a living symbiotic colony of bacteria & yeast, or a SCOBY, and can be used to ferment new kombucha. The fermentation process produces acetic acid (also found in vinegar) & several other acidic compounds, trace levels of alcohol, & gases that make it carbonated. A large number of bacteria also grow in the mixture. Kombucha contains several species of lactic acid bacteria that may have a probiotic function. Probiotics provide your gut with healthy bacteria. These bacteria may improve many aspects of health, including digestion, inflammation, & even weight loss. 2. Kombucha may provide the benefits of green tea Green tea contains many bioactive compounds, such as polyphenols, which are powerful antioxidants in the body. Kombucha made from green tea contains many of the same plant compounds & presumably boasts some of the same benefits. Studies show that drinking green tea regularly or taking supplements containing green tea extract can increase the number of calories you burn, reduce belly fat, improve cholesterol levels, help with blood sugar control, and more. Studies also show that green tea drinkers have a reduced risk of prostate, breast, and colon cancers. 3. Kombucha may benefit liver health Antioxidants are substances that fight free radicals, reactive molecules that can damage your cells. Kombucha, especially when made with green tea, appears to have antioxidant effects on your liver. Rat studies have shown that drinking kombucha regularly reduces liver toxicity caused by toxic chemicals. While no human studies exist on this topic, it seems like a promising research area for people with liver disease. 4. Kombucha may kill harmful bacteria One of the main substances produced during the fermentation of kombucha is acetic acid, which is also abundant in vinegar. Like the polyphenols in tea, acetic acid can kill many potentially harmful microorganisms. Kombucha made from black or green tea has strong antibacterial properties, particularly against infection-causing bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella typhi. These antimicrobial effects suppress the growth of undesirable bacteria & yeasts in test tube studies, but they do not affect the beneficial, probiotic bacteria & yeasts involved in kombucha fermentation. 5. Kombucha may reduce heart disease risk Heart disease is the world’s leading cause of death. Rat studies show that kombucha can greatly improve two markers of heart disease, “bad” LDL and “good” HDL cholesterol, in as few as 30 days. Even more importantly, tea (especially green tea) protects LDL cholesterol particles from oxidation, which is thought to contribute to heart disease. In fact, green tea drinkers have a lower risk of developing heart disease, a benefit that may also apply to kombucha. 6. Kombucha may help manage type 2 diabetes Type 2 diabetes affects over 462 million people worldwide. It’s characterized by high blood sugar levels and insulin resistance. A 2012 study in diabetic rats found that kombucha slowed down the digestion of carbs, which reduced blood sugar levels. It also improved liver & kidney function. In a 2023 pilot study, participants who consumed kombucha (240 mL/day for 4 weeks) had lower fasting blood sugar levels than baseline, while the placebo group did not. A 2023 randomized controlled trial found that kombucha lowered the blood sugar response to high glycemic index meals in healthy adults. 7. Kombucha may help protect against cancer Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death. It’s characterized by cell mutation & uncontrolled cell growth. In test-tube studies, kombucha helped prevent the growth & spread of cancerous cells, possibly due to its high concentration of tea polyphenols and antioxidants. How the anticancer properties of tea polyphenols work isn’t well understood. It’s thought that the polyphenols block gene mutation and the growth of cancer cells while also promoting cancer cell death. For this reason, it isn’t surprising that tea drinkers are less likely to develop various types of cancer. Stay healthy. Nothing can help more than turmeric, ginger, garlic, moringa, kombucha, consumed each day. 𝓡𝓲𝓼𝓼𝓪𝓵𝓪 𝓟𝓸𝓵𝓸 & 𝓞𝓻𝓰𝓪𝓷𝓲𝓬 𝓕𝓪𝓻𝓶𝓼. Evoletindia.com.

Makes wonderful Kombuchas
What was in the box: I received a bag of Scoby + starter tea, a packet of black tea and sugar and a pamphlet with instructions What next: I made a 1 litre batch using the given ingredients, making sure: - all surfaces (the glass jar and whatever touches the tea) were thoroughly cleaned with dish soap and free from any soap residue - thoroughly washed my hands with dish soap and not handwash - left the Kombucha alone for 7 days in a clean environment free of any ants, flies and covered the jar with a cloth Once the 1 litre batch was ready, used it to make a 2 litre Scoby hotel Since then, I've left the Scoby hotel alone. I take out some starter tea from it and replenish it from time to time but make sure it doesn't get contaminated. Brewing batches are made separately in a different container. I've made three 2.5-litre batches of Kombucha and they tasted great! It's a great way to play around with fruit and herb flavours. I really like the complexity in taste that comes with fermentation. Have tried with Jamun, Orange, Pomegranate, Pineapple as base and made a whole lot of combinations with lime, rosemary and mint picked fresh from the garden. As it said on the pamphlet, this is a lifestyle and I'm fully embracing it! It has made me appreciate nature and my food even more, and has sent me down a fermentation and food-preservation rabbit hole. Since then I have made ginger ale, fruit sodas, Tepache (fermented pineapple drink), lacto-fermented veggies, raw mangoes, jalapenos, preserved limes, lime and mint tincture and pickled veggies (like the ones you get with shawarma). I have a whole lot of things in pipeline. Thanks Peepal Farm for the wonderful Scoby! Cheers

Yay! Got a successful batch….
It got delivered properly, which I was dreading. But company has done a good job. I brewed a batch and it’s come out great. 👍 👍 👍 Instructions were clear, though I am already a veteran at brewing the booch! They included everything that was needed to start - sugar and tea and instructions booklet. It was a bit expensive, however I was happy with the convenience of having it delivered. Taste is good of my brew. Colour is as it should be. If you really want to start a brew and don’t know where to get a starter, don’t hesitate to order…… I got it delivered in a tribal area of Rajasthan!
