i forgot how awesome this stuff was
I remember my mother using this on us when I was little, but I forgot how well it worked. I have been looking for something to keep the bugs off my kiddos. They have been really bad here during the summer and nothing has really been working. Since they must go outside and beekeeper outfits are impractical, I find I must put some sort of chemicals on my kids to keep them from coming back inside looking like they have chickenpox. so, my wonderful mother suggested I try Avon again and it is awesome! It smells pretty good. IT DOESN'T HAVE DEET IN IT which I love because it also Completely keeps the bugs off you. Completely. My kids didn't have any bites after I started using this. The people (my husband) who did not use it did not fare so well on the first outing, and have since changed their tune about needing bug spray before going on walks. So basically in my opinion, this stuff is great. Best you can do without drowning in deet or wearing a bio hazard suit. (But I still wash it off before bed. If nothing else, the smell is quite strong)

Does what it says!
I was looking for a Bug Guard that was not sticky, smelly or just plan awful to use. We go out to dinner and like to eat outside but I get eaten up by who-knows-what under the table all over my legs and ankles. It's terrible. So a friend told me Avon now makes a specific bug guard and I checked them all out and all the reviews where extremely helpful in making my decision as to which one to pick. I have used it several times and shared it with others and they all loved the scent and most importantly it stopped us from being bitten! The fact that it is not sticky or gross is also a major reason everyone liked it as well. Oh almost forgot, had children around and parents where concerned and asked if it had deets, but I told them that it didn't and they loved that idea as well.

Good
We travel a lot to tropical areas. Most times I forget to think about bug repellant until after I've gotten a lot of bites. In prep for our twice yearly Costa Rica trip, I actually remembered I've heard of Skin So Soft being the best remedy. I've heard this for about 14 years now. I got this, plus the towelettes, plus the bug spray/sunscreen. All seemed to work very well. The bug repellant spray went on easy, seemed to have worked and smelled ok, The only negative was I threw it in my bag, and even with the lid on tight, it still escaped and got all over other things. The smell was a big stronger when not in spray form. I would definitely buy this again and use this again. It did not upset my skin, which is easy to do. I do have to say you never know if something truly works if you don't know for sure if you would or would not have gotten bitten in the first place. I recommend it.

Bye Bye Mosquitos!!
FINALLY! I remember as a child of the 70's, my mom would break out her Skin So Soft, which she purchased from her friendly Avon Lady to ward off all the Florida mosquitos who feasted on my skin. Flash forward to now; mosquitos not only still feast on me, but my 10 yr old daughter as well. After much researching, I found this Skin-So-Soft Bug Guard. I love it! Mine came with a separate pump, which I prefer over an aerosol. The odor is not "buggy" smelling, but pleasantly mild and true to its name, it does feel soft to the skin AND it works!! It keeps the mosquitos AWAY!! I purchased two types - this one has sunscreen, which is great for when we are outside doing yard work, or on the boat - it's Florida, so we are outside a lot. It also contains Vitamin E & Aloe - two things my dry skin craves. My only regret? Not purchasing a larger size!

Oh My Gosh-19 mile Bike ride with the Bugs
I swear this was more like a Bug attractant than repellant.I have been on the bike trail without bug repellant on and had less bugs. This time I used this and on me and my kids we all had tons of bugs hovering around our heads in our faces and driving us mad! It was like a spot light to the bugs saying Hey I smell Gooood come and get me!! The reason I still gave it 3 stars,is I dont think we got bit by any mosquitoes which is most important. No see ums did bite and all sorts of other bugs where trying to hitch a ride on our legs while biking though. So I have mixed feeling on this,In way great that the mosquitoes didn't bite, one the other hand we where candy for other swarming bugs fogging our faces.Note we did re-apply this too.

Seems to work fine to evade ticks and mites in the neotropical rainforest
I have used this for two trips: Costa Rica's rainforest and Peru's rainforest. On both locations but specially in Costa Rica I walked some trails where it is known that ticks or very small mites are waiting on top of herbs and grasses just to anchor to your boots or pants or directly to your legs if you're using shorts. I came back from both trips without any mite nor tick. I complemented the spray by applying Vicks Vaporub to the boots and pants, this was recommended by a fellow naturalist. In the Costa Rican camp area where I stayed I could see some people with mite bite marks in the legs and arms but they were also using just shorts and boots so... This bottle has a dispenser so you can spray it easily. And the odor doesn't bother me at all.

I get bitten, a lot. It's miserable scratching bites for the next week. I've tried Deet, which stinks and rots 'everything' I'd heard about Picaridin from that internet place and was getting a bit bored with lubing myself up with Avon's Skin So Soft. You see, the A.S.S.S is good, but it leaves you oily and feeling a bit crap. You have to put the stuff on just after a shower or you'll get nailed, which defeats the object of having a shower. A.S.S.S doesn't repel midges/mozzies it works because midgies/mozzies that land on you soak up some of the oil this stops them flying off and suffocates them. Try spraying some on a light or lamp and see what happens. This A.S.S.S Picaridin bug guard stuff actually repels midges/mozzies. I sat out at night and only got bitten on the parts I'd not applied! If I had not applied anything, I would have been annihilated! I could see them swarming round me but not landing. It smells 'nice' even the Mrs. like it! she hates the smell of A.S.S.S it also doesn't leave you feeling crap, you can't even tell you're wearing it after 10 mins. I'm annoyed that Avon don't sell this stuff in the UK, they would make a fortune in Scotland/Wales. We have to buy this stuff from the US at a high cost. But if you use the stuff sparingly then it lasts yonks and is actually worth spending to stop getting bitten.

This product is great for keeping those pesky mozzles at bay. Smells good and reasonable price when compared to other mosquito repellents .

Am usually bitten all over when on holiday in spite of using serious bug repellents for years. I used this on a 2 week holiday and the only bites I got were on an afternoon walk before I'd applied it! Easy to use, pleasant on the skin and doesn't smell like it's going to dissolve bits of you! No damage to any thing I handled whilst wearing it. I don't want to go on holiday without it ever again.

At last I've found a product that stops the blessed mosquitoes biting me, Avon Skin So Soft plus Picaridin is a pleasanter smelling repellent than most and providing you cover all exposed areas of skin then it does work

I used the spray along with the towelettes and cannot recommend these products highly enough. Not one bite for the first time ever!
