Writing Jazz on Paper: My Conklin Stub Nib Experience
This Conklin fountain pen with stub nib delivers a smooth, expressive line variation, blending 1890’s craftsmanship with reliable performance. Balanced in hand, it transforms everyday writing into a refined, enjoyable experience. Glad that I purchased it and every fountain pen lover should have it.

A beautiful accident, the perfect pen.
I accidentally ordered the 1.1 stub instaed of the medium nib. When I realized the mistake it was already out for delivery. I decided to give it a try and it turned out to be great. The pen is beautiful and very well crafted. The only compromise is that the medium would have been a two-tone gold steel nib, while the stub is only steel. The stub writes like a dream. It has a little bit of feed and bleed, but that might be due to my inexperience with stubs, and the moderate paper quality. To that effect, I immediately ordered a rhodia and a clairfontain pad for writing. To me it is perfect.

Very Very Good
Bought it as a gift. Beautiful pen, stub nib to use with shimmering inks that can cause flow problems. Received on time and nicely packaged.

Suavidad en la escritura.
Pluma de muy buena calidad, su escritura es suave y fluida, se desliza como la seda, es bonita y su material de resina es de un tacto ideal, me encanta escribir con ella y es en mi opinión muy económica para la calidad que tiene.

Underwhelming
The ink does not flow nicely and the nib just doesn't work well. I really wanted to love this pen. Win some. Lose some.

Seems to be well made.
I was intrigued to see how well a stub nib worked and the quality of the Conklin. The stub nib is fun and does add flair to one's writing. It is not flexible, but I did not expect it would be. The Conkiln pen, sans nib assembly, is reasonably well made and comfortable if you like slightly larger pens. This model takes a Jowo #6 (in fact, that is what the Conklin nib is, apparently). I purchased a Jowo omni-flex and installed it in the Conklin body, with out any problems. Both nibs (stub and omni-flex) write well, if somewhat moist. I did not experience any of the dry starts or other problems noted by some reviewers here and elsewhere. I would rate is a reasonable first pen, to introduce someone to the joys of fountain pens - but only if they are comfortable with a larger, i.e. thicker, writing instrument. Will I use it as my everyday pen? No. But for special occasions and say, birthday cards and so on, yes.
