Total 6. I believe its 4 mid range and 2 tweeters.

Can someone tell if it’s 3in tall or 3.84in tall? I knw it seems like minimal difference but where it would sit for me there a ledge exactly 3 inches.

It is closer to 3.84" tall (just over 3-3/4").

Has anyone tried the subwoofer output to see if it works?

Yes it works well. You can also control the output of the sub

looks like you can split it in half. How far can both pieces be? can they be on both side of a screen?

The sound bar has to be assembled to work. The contacts that power the speakers are on the main center part of the bar. If they are not attached, the speakers are not powered.
