Libbey Craft Brews Assorted Beer Glasses, Set of 6

We have a lot of get togethers with our family and love to have a few drinks while we are bbqing or hanging out around the fire. We didn't have any nice beer glasses so I was excited to get these. There are 6 different glasses and they are: classic pilsner (15.25 oz.), English pub (20 oz.), Belgian ale (16.6 oz.), craft pub (20 oz.), porter/stout (14.75 oz.) and wheat beer (23 oz.). The glasses are made of thick glass and really durable. When I got them they were a little dusty but that is not a big deal we washed them in warm, soapy water and used them right away. They can also be washed in the dishwasher. They are a big hit at our get togethers and we have been asked several times where we got them because everybody wants a set. As a bonus this comes with information that tells you what beer each of the glasses go with and the foods they pair well with. We absolutely love these glasses and with Christmas coming up these would make a great gift to. I received this product as a sample to test and review. This review is solely my opinion. The I information I provided is what I experienced.

I was searching for a 20 ounce wheat beer glass, for traditional German Weissbiers. I could only find sets of two half-liter (16.9 ounce glasses) for around $30 or more. The problem with these is that if you buy a half-liter bottle of German wheat beer, you can't nearly pour the whole bottle in the glass, which eliminates the ability to get the yeast in the bottom of the glass into the beer. A German Weissbier, if poured correctly, with a round slice of lemon in the bottom of the glass, produces a great 1-2 inch head, which perpetuates itself because of the lemon stuck in the bottom of the glass. This set of well-made Libby glasses includes a 20 ounce German wheat beer glass, plus five other great glasses, all for the amazing price of $19.99. FOR SIX GLASSES! In addition to my perfect Weissbier glass, I have a great stemmed pilsner glass, a traditional pint glass, two other stemmed glasses, perfect for Stella or other quality beers, and another basic beer glass, This set is the bomb. And if you don't want it for yourself, buy it for any of your family or friend who enjoy quality beers (if they drink the swill know as Bud Light, don't even bother - they have no clue what a decent quality beer tastes like).

If you can get these when they are on sale ($20) plus free prime shipping, don't hesitate to purchases a set or 3. The box comes exceptionally well packed which is important when shipping out fragile glassware. The glasses themselves are of fairly high quality, and I spotted little to no physical defects. The bases in particular were all flush and consistent between the sets I purchased, and all of the glass rims save one or two were perfectly round without any dimples. I can accept a tiny dimple on the rim of one of the pub glasses since it's barely noticeable, and even then it's only apparent under close scrutiny. The Heifweizen, Porter, and Belgian glasses are all of particularly high quality, and would cost you significantly more if purchased individuality or even as part of a set. All of the glasses are fairly thick where it counts as well, and I don't see this breaking any time soon even if they're bumped against a counter or a faucet identically while washing. Overall, this is a must have for beer connoisseurs or anyone who appreciates drinking each style of beer from the appropriate glass.

I gave this to my beer loving husband for Christmas. He is extremely hard to buy for because 1) He doesn't like me spending money and 2) He never really "wants" anything. Well, this solved both of those problems. 1) the product was very inexpensive and 2) this was something he may not have needed or even something he may have thought he wanted, but when he got it, his eyes went wide. I have always heard him commenting that the beer he is drinking would be better in a different glass. Well, he uses these! They are great quality and passed the beer lovers test. The only thing I dislike was how it was shipped. The box had no brand, name, tag, photo, etc. Unless you know beer (and the glasses) you wont know which beer goes in which glass. It does tell you the names of the glasses but not what type of beer each is used for.

These glasses are a good value for the money, and I got exactly what was described. Some pros: very durable glassware, as described, variety of glasses for different styles of beer, packaging was perfect and they shipped without damage. Some cons: minor imperfections in the glass - most notably on the base of the stems, very large capacities which may be too big for single beer pours from cans or bottles, and a not exactly classic take on the styles these are meant to represent. Short story: if you want different glasses to enjoy your beer at home and are not a glassware snob, these will do the job and they will resist scratches and breakage. Longer story: these are clearly meant for high-volume restaurant and bar service and as such are kind of built like tanks. They do not have the gentleness of more upscale brands like Spiegelau. I'm happy I had the opportunity to try them as a sampler, because now I know I would not want a full set of any of these (maybe with exception of the pilsner glass). I will use them though, until I find finer examples of some of them at a price-point that I like. Note that the Craft Pub glass is akin to a Willi Becher glass, but larger. The English Pub glass is similar to a Nonic Pint. The Belgian Ale glass is not quite flared enough at the top to qualify as a true Tulip. And the Wheat Beer glass is more balloony than a traditional hefeweizen glass. Just putting this out there for those who are sticklers for tradition in such things. These are durable glasses and will wear well, and what you get is exactly what is described.

We were very pleased with our set of glasses and enjoy using the different styles while enjoying our favorite beverage! We enjoyed them so much, that we purchased another set to give a friend for Christmas. I am sure that he will enjoy them as much as we do. This is a nice set of glasses, sturdy yet attractive and well designed. I am happy to see that they are not made of very thin or breakable glass, yet present as high quality glassware.

Bought this for my husband since he recently got into tasting craft beers. He likes that he has the proper glassware when trying out specific new brews.

This set is great! Unless I'm hanging out in the back yard, I am now using one of these glasses every time I have a beer. My favorite one has to be the Belgian ale glass. Whenever I use it, the aroma of the beer is presented to me as soon as I take a sip, making the brew that much more enjoyable. So for only $20, I had to buy another set as a gift. I'm sure the recipient will be just as pleased as I am. If not, I promise to update my review. I highly recommend this set. And don't worry about the plain cardboard box this comes in. It will save you $10 that you can spend on beer.
