Arrived Damaged
First of all - I'm rating this 5 stars because I don't believe it is the fault of the paper cutter itself. It seems relatively sturdy and well built. And what parts of the paper it did cut - it cut nicely. I'm only posting this review so there's a record of the video of what it's doing so Amazon can see it because I'm returning it. Mine arrived heavily physically damaged. Bent. How do you bend a thick heavy piece of metal like this??? Because of this it's not cutting paper all the way through. The top half cuts nice. The bottom half doesn't. The bottom half of the blade doesn't lower fully to the cutting bed. And if I were to push harder it just pushes the top half more firmly: ruining the cutting bed, dulling the blade and still not cutting the paper. I tried pushing very hard hoping it would level itself out - all that did was make it cut into its own plastic cutting bed guard block - ruining it. I don't feel good about rating this 1 star when it's clearly a damaged/defective unit. So, it's getting a 5 star to be fair. But be aware of the possibility of defects in how it cuts - see video.

Cuts like factory machine
I recently purchased six vintage books online, only to discover that none of them had been properly trimmed. The pages were folded and glued to the spine, but the final trimming step had been skipped, leaving every 16 pages stuck together and unreadable. While I could have used an X-Acto knife to cut them by hand, I knew that would lead to an uneven, unprofessional result. I searched for a factory or shop that could help, but had no luck. That’s when I found this paper cutter. Yes, it’s large and heavy, but it did the job perfectly! I was able to trim all six books with precision, and they look great now. My wife thinks I’m a little crazy for going to these lengths, but for me, it was totally worth it. I’ve since boxed the cutter away, but I can definitely see myself using it again in the future for similar projects—like tidying up the edges of old, worn books. Highly recommend if you run into similar situation (doubtful? lol)

Impressive!
I bought this paper cutter to cut 8.5" x 11" 60lb card stock into 6 pieces - repeatedly. It's hard to imagine that this machine can cut through over an inch of card stock with ease - but it does! This is definitely not a toy, and the blade is extraordinarily sharp (which it needs to be to function properly), so respect it! My machine was shipped and arrived in good condition. This machine also came with a replacement blade, which I thought would be a good idea. Set up on this machine is quick and easy. There are grid lines marked on the cutter, but it think for high-precision work, a person may want to calibrate those lines. The machine is heavy - about 45lbs. ! I placed the machine on a rolling cabinet, which allows me to store it, instead of using counter space, when not in use. I may try to incorporate an LED cut-line indicator light, but that's a project for another day. Overall, I'm pleased with this machine. It has already saved me money by be able to print and quickly cut the pieces I need without having to take the job to a professional printer.

Precision and sturdiness are the key points for this cutter
If you need to tackle heavy-duty trimming jobs with precision and ease, the 17" Guillotine Cutter is an excellent choice. This solidly built paper cutter can slice through stacks of paper up to 1" thick with its sturdy guillotine blade. The elongated 17" cutting length gives you the capacity to trim larger formats like A3 with ease. The base has convenient guides printed with the A4, A3, and B5 paper sizes which helps achieve accurate cuts every time on those standard sizes. One small drawback is that it does not have markings for US letter (8.5"x11") or legal (8.5"x14") sizes. However, you can easily make your own pencil markings on the base to indicate those dimensions. Overall, the heft and quality manufacturing of this cutter is really impressive. The solid steel blade slices cleanly through paper with minimal effort required. The sturdy base keeps the trimmer securely planted while cutting. For classrooms, offices, print shops or anyone needing to trim larger stacks of paper, this cutter's combination of cutting length, blade strength, and sturdy metal construction make it a fantastic heavy-duty trimming solution. Just be prepared to mark your own US paper sizes. Highly recommended for the price.

update after 8 weeks. I do not recommend this machine
I received this paper cutter 8 weeks ago and left a 5 star review because it cuts so well. And that is still true. It is a fantastic paper cutter. However now that the blade has worn out I have found 2 problems: First, I cannot find replacement blades anywhere. Someone said Walmart had them but they don't now. I found a blade on Amazon that looks like it might work. It is from a different company (HFS) so I can't be sure. Secondly I found that one of the 5 Allen key screws that holds the blade in is stripped. This was a brand new machine and it has clearly arrived with a screw that has the Allen head stripped which I did not notice until I went to remove the blade. So far I have not been able to remove it. I am past my return window on Amazon. I give it a zero star. 2nd update: I purchased the HFS blade (HFS (R) Paper Cutter Blade for HFS 12'' Heavy Duty Guillotine A4 Paper Cutter) and good news is that it does fit. So if you are buying a new guillotine I suggest you buy the HFS brand because they at least do sell a replacement blade. (HFS (R) Heavy Duty Guillotine Paper Cutter -12'' (12'' Paper Cutter) PS I purchased a tool that allowed me to remove the screw and was able to purchase a replacement screw at the local hardware store).

QUALITY BUILT
This paper cutter is very high quality and heavy duty. The price is certainly fair. It is easy to operate. I have trimmed about a hundred bookets on three sides with no signs of the blade getting dull. Also, it cuts at least 300 sheets of 20lb bond stock with ease. The cutting board is labeled with rulers for ease of setting cutting measurements. It has a safety latch to prevent accidental cutting. All in all, it is everything and more as advertised.

Get something better that works.
I have been using this Heavy duty paper cutter 12” for a couple months. At first it was cutting like butter through stacks of paper about 1/2” thick, but slowly the blade started to dull and the red plate where the blade meets started to get jagged and cuts on the last few sheets where not clean cuts. The line up bar that the rail runs along has the grooves in it and when you slice down it pulls the paper at an angle and crushes the paper into the groves and indents the top sheets, no matter how much you crank down on the tension bar for stability. I over came this issue by placing a piece of chip board on top of my paper and leaving about 1/2” from top so it wont get damaged but at this price range I expected better quality. . I have only cut through 2 reams worth of paper and already there are blade alignment issues staring so now I need to pull it apart to make adjustments, and not sure how well this will take me, didn’t expect to need to do this so soon. I have a cheap paper cutter that only goes through 20 sheets and it is still going strong after 4 years so disappointed is the word I’m going with on this expensive paper weight. I would say look for a better paper cutter if you expect any type of quality as this cutter is not a great value at this price point. I would return it if I hadn’t passed the 30 day return window but I’m stuck with this one now.
