CAMVATE Stainless Steel 1/4"-20 Male to 3/8"-16 Female Tripod Screw - 0927

This product is rock solid. I wasn't expecting much and was limited in my choices since I needed this configuration with this diameter. All the other parts at my local camera store and online were either too big (manfrotto tripod reducer) or too small (brass adapters). The 1/4" portion screws onto a small rig perfectly. The 3/8th female end screws onto a monopod or flash bracket securely. It's heavier than I thought. Only minus is the shipping was the price of the product. But we'll worth it since the little brass adapter's cost $10 and this one distributes weight more evenly. I also use it on my gimbal since that part was plastic and wore down after rugged use. Someone noted their threads were off, mine went in like butter and stays in secure. I also use it on a dslr camera mounted to a tascam dr60 mkii then to a camera rig. I have the utmost confidence all the weight of camera and tascam audio mixer will be secure and this piece will not snap.

initial impression is that this is a good quality material, machined well and has a nice weight / balance overall. I did initially think this was a bit larger overall just from looking at the photo. However they do provide the dimensions in the description. I don't think that the actual size will pose any issues. If it's truly stainless steel and not aluminum it's austenitic stainless steel and not the ferritic stainless steel which is magnetic. I was a little disappointed as my main purpose to use this factored in that it would be magnetic but that was an assumption on my part... Still a good piece and it does what it was intended to do so overall I have no real issues with the product.

For Christmas I was given a monopod for my camera, but I discovered that I wanted to attach a ball head, to be able to move the camera sideways if I wanted too. The ball head, however, needed this camvate to work with the monopod. This works perfectly. A nice snug fit, small so it's not in the way. It's exactly what I wanted.

I had my choice of adapters I found on Amazon, aluminium, brass, or stainless steel. The first two choices are very poor. I wouldn't trust my gear to be supported by an aluminum or brass 1/4" stud as those are far too weak to take the twisting/shear force that a camera can apply. This stainless steel adapter is the only thing I would trust. The machining is very good and it's diameter is just large enough to distribute the forces to the camera mounting surface. Yes, it's heavier but it's not going to break under normal use.

What else is there to say? This beat the price of most other similar adapters and is made of steel instead of aluminum so I'm not worried about the threads stripping out. I will say that it doesn't come with a rubber pad like some do and in my case it's supporting a light load. YMMV if you hang a ton of gear off it, it's pretty small.

Bought for a specific project purpose. Purchased expecting a magnet to attach to this stainless steel part. A magnet won't stick to this at all. Not advertised as magnetic, but didn't expect it to not work at all.

Does the job. But would be nice if it was wider so it was flush with the tripod head and tripod. Otherwise it’s fine
