Is it awkward to open this bag with out exposing everything or items falling out of main compartment

This bag was a present for my wife - it is now the only backpack she will wear. The opening is the same as any other backpack except that the zip is not on the outside where anyone could open it, but on the inside against your back so it is unlikely that it can be opened without you feeling something.

Can this hold a 13 inch laptop?

Technically yes, but I found it impossible to put it through the main cavity opening. I did not want to force it in case it damaged the zip.

Would this bag fit a 12 inch laptop in the large pocket?

As the advert states it will fit an 11 inch laptop so I think a 12 inch laptop is just too big.
