Good for sealing small gaps or as replacement gasket material where high heat isn't a problem.
Bought this to repair a leaky CHMSL on my Ford F-150. This is a very common problem, leading to water intrusion into the cab, but I couldn't find a replacement gasket. Instead I cut four strips of this tape with mitered (45ยบ angled) ends and made my own gasket. This product was slightly wider than the original foam gasket but conformed easily to the mating surfaces. I found it to be highly adhesive and surprisingly elastic. I'll check for water intrusion and if I find any I'll update my review. I'm sure I'll find other uses for this as well.

Good not good enough for what I needed
Bought to seal the back light over the cab on a 2010 F-150. The light still leaked and I ended up taking it to a shop to fix the problem. Not sure if we just didn't get a good seal or what was wrong... potentially bc it never stops raining here long enough, the product seems good quality so we are keeping for other uses.

Too sticky to work with in cramped places... ended-up buying a different Butyl tape.
As some reviews stated, very sticky, making it harder to work with than other Butyl tapes/products. Sticks too much to the roll. After buying a different type of Butyl tape from the store, I realized that there really is a difference between Butyl tapes. This one is a bit too sticky to both the roll and the surface, as compared to other, less sticky Butyl tapes, with the exactly the same outcomes/results. Ended-up buying the original Butyl roll (more expensive), and just putting this one away for some other/future job...

Great product for reseal vents, etc.
Used to resecure and act as a water barrier when I replaced the yellowed stove vent on the outside of my travel trailer. Easy to use but it is very sticky... that's a good thing! If it gets on your fingers I found that WD40 removes it completely and easily.

A must have for waterproofing with installs!
The #1 thing you need for water proofing! I use it on all outside installs that are open to water. Perfect for RVs and perfect for any time you're gonna screw into something. Holds up to extreme heat. Holds its form. Great product and great packaging I will buy and buy and buy again. Always great to deal with.

and so far so good! It has the consistency of slightly-dry chewing gum
This is my first time using butyl putty tape, and so far so good! It has the consistency of slightly-dry chewing gum, is reasonably easy to work with, and seems to be doing a good job sealing several device openings in my fiberglass camper. The color was nearly an exact match to our light almond fiberglass shell.

My father was a mechanical engineer and excellent auto mechanic
My father was a mechanical engineer and excellent auto mechanic. He used butyl tape often on auto repairs. Binding trim back onto its mounting locations where the plastic tree connectors had filed or were loose from vibration. Great butyl tape would work in warm, cold, wet, dry or frozen environments, as long as you can get an initial dry stick. I still have some of his long time supply, over 20 years old I am sure, it works great, rubbery, black and sticks to anything. THIS STUFF DOESNT WORK AT ALL, even if I tried to heat gun it to get it loose and gooey, nothing! It must have pressure, constant to work and has little to no binding power on wood. plastic or steel.DON"T BUY IT, I am trying to get my money back.
