Generates good white smoke to see leaks
I needed something to generate smoke so I could see leaks around the edges of my sump pit cover. I have a radon fan connected and wanted to identify any places where I missed with the caulking. The cover is clear Lexan so I could see the smoke get pulled in. This worked very well. The design is like a mechanical eraser, where you push the end to slide more out. However, with the hot end, when you get close to the smoking stick reaching the pen, you need to push the button and tap it to get more to slide out. Be sure to have something non-combustible for it to slide against to stop it from coming all the way out. You will have to advance more of the stick about every five minutes.

Invaluable tool
Glad I found this reasonably priced, as I have seen others go for much more. Pretty basic tool, but invaluable. Get you one if you're trying to find problems with airflow. I'm in HVACR and this helped me to properly diagnose airflow problems and show the issue visually for proof. Recommend.

Works great, just expensive
And when I’m out of smoke sticks I wouldn’t be shocked to learn I can’t buy them anymore. So it works well but in prob wouldn’t buy it again.

Great diagnostic tool
I’ve been finding all sorts of uses for this. I ritually it was to test hvac duct work but I find myself using it to demonstrate air intrusion as well as even finding vacuum leaks on a motorcycle. First burn doesn’t work well so light it before you need it and get a good char. After that it works well. Very little odor, most people don’t even know I lit something.

Good for testing exhaust fans and hoods
They make enough smoke to track the air movements. I used it to test exhaust hoods and they worked fine.

Buono

Good product. Cheaper than the electronic one if you don't need to use so often
Works as intended

Pas encore utilisé mais
Je pensais que le détecteur aurait intégré un allumage électronique avec un piezo ou qq chose du genre. Il faut penser à avoir son briquet !
