A tough, extra-motivating video featuring orchestra and jazz-type music and The Firm's usual movie-quality production. Tracy Long's precise cuing and constantly-changing moves guarantees a shapely, well-defined body. A short, intense all-floorwork program with lots of tempo and movement variations. These classic routines are precision-targeted to those familiar "trouble spots": your abs, thighs and buttocks. There's a "choreographed" feel to this workout - Tracy makes it interesting by constantly alternating the exercises and varying the pace (e.g. fast, slow, pulsed; with and without weights). Requires 8 to 20 lb. dumbbells and 3 to 5 lb. ankle weights. Re-edited from The Firm's Tortoise and Hare. Formerly titled "Lie Down and Work Out." 1996 (37 min.). Review: Excellent, low-impact abs and buns workout - I grew up doing these old FIRM videos with my mom, and they're still excellent. Now, I work out with videos a lot, both online and using DVD's, and this is still one of my favorites. The instructor is good with cues, she goes with the beat of the music, and she exercises each side evenly. The video is all floor work and practically no impact. At one point, you have the option to use ankle weights, and I think she recommends some light hand weights during another section. The weights aren't necessary to get a good workout, though. I wouldn't say this gets your cardio going much, but it definitely gets your abs, legs, and buns burning. I exercise regularly, but when I haven't done this video in a while, it'll make me a little sore. The movements are simple enough for beginners to catch on to, but challenging enough that more advanced people will get a decent workout. It's a great workout for those days when you want to keep things tight, but you don't want to sweat through your clothes. I highly recommend it! Review: Tracie Long is the best!!! - I love Tracie Long. She is one of the few people I can work out to at home. Her cuing is perfect, very seamless and she seems to intuitively know when it's time to move to the next position. If you listen to her, you're able to transition very easily from one position to the next. Her work-outs are also relatively low impact, so I can see why people with injuries would find her work-outs appealing. I have found the ab work-outs to be very effective. My belly area has always been my number one problem spot, and no amount of crunches ever did anything, but the different positions in this videa really do the trick for me. It doesn't concentrate on just one area, but the upper, lower, and sides so while I may not be destined for 6 pack greatness, it does give me definition in my waist. This work-out is all about working smarter, not harder, which I'm all about. It is true there are no chapters, but one, this is a straight copy from the original VHS, and two, it is so short, you really don't need chapters. Her other DVDs, including the ones where she has branched out on her own are just as excellent.

Great mat based lower body workout
I got this to finish out my FIRM Parts collection. It's a deceptively hard workout. It is all mat work, but it works your thigh and butt. It has A LOT of ab work (I hate about work) but it makes sense because core strength helps with everything. It will be in my weekly rotation for awhile. Equipment needed is ankle weights, a dumbbell (the instructor used 15#, I used 5# and still got a great workout) and either a towel or band for one section where it's used to stretch.

My Favorite Video! Good seller
I recently returned to using the Firm DVDs. I used them in the late 1980s thru the early 2000's but work and raising kids left me no time so I stopped working out. Fast forward to age 57 yrs, just retired and found myself overweight, weak, elevated cholesterol and blood pressure. I have time for me now. So, I knew Tracie Long from the past. I like her style, no nonsense, NOT CUTESY, great cueing and shows proper form for what she's teaching. She encourages you "You're not done yet." I really like her. I can do this DVD and when I'm done I'm wet with sweat, I know I gave it my all and I feel it the next day. I now have a bunch of DVDs in my rotation but this one is my favorite. I bought it used and the seller was Loved Again Media who was spot on with description and arrived in good packaging. I want to buy more for my rotations to prevent boredom but I will maintain this one once a week. It is my favorite.

An Oldie But Oh So Effective!!!
This is an oldie but so much a goodie. I started seriously working out with The Firm back in the nineties. It literally gave me the body of my dreams! I was a Firm believer thus I only exercised with The Firm. Fast forward to today I use a lot of different workouts, instructors and methods. Pilates, Yoga, Fusion , Barre etc. But I never forgot The Firm. I just used this workout today and remember why I loved it so. Itโs innovative, fun and it gets results fast!!!! I feel it!! They really were ahead of their time. I am glad to include this in my library and will be teaching for it again and again. No matter what your age you will enjoy this and you will get the results they promise!! ๐๐ฝ

Great sculpting video
I used to own this in VHS; excited to find it in DVD. The instructor is great. She isn't overly hyper and she cues you ahead of time about what moves are coming up. The moves are easy to pick up, but it is an intense workout. This is complete sculpting. No cardio at all, so it should be used in addition to other forms of exercise. It is all floor work. She mixes the combos up frequently so you don't get bored doing one exercise over and over. You will definitely feel this the next day in your legs, hips, buns, and your abs. A great video!

Don't feel old
I'm a 67 year-old woman (husband's account) and since I've been doing this I can get up off the couch without feeling like an old woman. It totally works all your core muscles and makes me feel strong. I had a mild case of frozen shoulder and now it's gone. My Sciatica is totally manageable because I've lost weight. I sweat but this dvd is not a cardio workout but it's a good workout! I'm using the weights now but that took many months. I workout at minimum of 4 times a week. I feel great afterward and all day long. I highly recommend it.

The FIRM Parts: Sculpted Buns, Hips & Thighs
I really like this workout. I used to have the VHS, but it broke so I got this DVD. The quality is much better. This workout is tough and effective. The FIRM said you would see results in 10 days, and I noticed results even before that in my lower body and abs. This is a great workout for the abs, butt, and inner/outer thighs. Use ankle weights and dumbbells for quick results and better tone.
