Rubies Colonial Girl Costume Dress for Kids, Girl's Medium

We needed a costume for Colonial Day field trip and with less than a week to get that organized - this saved the day. I read the reviews that it was cheap and thin....well it's a $20 costume so not sure why you would expect something of high quality for that price. If you're looking for something to do the trick and not break the bank then is this is perfect. The material is polyester - the apron and bonnet are thinner but it fit perfectly and looked great! The medium was a perfect fit for my 9yr old who is on the small side - she wears a 7/8 and she has room for growth so I would say it would fit an average 9-11yr old well. For the price, this exceeded my expectations especially since there were so many reviews on the quality....perhaps I was bracing for something awful - but I thought it was a great little costume and well worth the $20.

Love this costume for my daughters 13 colonies project! It was better than I expected when I got it. She was a little nervous when I told her I ordered her an outfit to wear for her presentation but she loved it too and wore it all day, she loved the bonnet style hat. I got it the next day which was unexpected and really fast shipping. We got the large which my daughter is a size 10-12 normally but if I would have purchased the medium it would have been too small. If your child is in between on the size chart I would go with the larger size. My only complaint were some of the strings on the apron were hanging but I just cut them and burned the end off so it didn’t fray. Great costume and pretty good quality for the price.

This costume is for my daughter for the upcoming Halloween. Based on reviews, we bought a size up. The sizing chart on amazon indicates she would need size large but we went with the Extra Large instead. This was the correct decision. The XL fits well and it is obvious that anything smaller would be too tight. So I suggest going one size up from what the chart indicates. The costume itself is cute. It is well made, at least for a costume of this price range. It really just needs to last one day, and it should do that well enough. Also if you are looking for the other sizes go back to your search results as Amazon has the XL as a separate listing, with all other sizes grouped together in one listing.

"We" are working on my second grader's assigment to write a story about Priscilla Alden and come in dressed in character to present to the class. Instead of fumblimg through the close and coming up with assorted items we went right to Amazon.Com. MY daughter knows I am an Amazon Prime member and as a single mom of three it is the best small investment you can make that will give you endless benefits. Within a short time we found an inexpensive costume. It arrived in two days, as a Prime Member, and this costume is really well made for the price. The material is silky and the detaiing and lace totally kick it up a notch. With countless of Halloween costumes and school plays for three kids, two who are already in high school, I am enthralled. It will arrive in one of those plastic bags with the hanger like you would get in Party City or Walmart or wherever you would pick up a costume, but when you take it out of the bag you can see the difference. This costume can compete with the $75+ costume I purchased from Birthday Party Express so my little one could be "Dorothy" from the Wizard of Oz to match her birthday theme. The one condition I had given her was that with that much spent, Dorothy is getting another outing this Halloween. We are both very pleased!

My daughter wore this for her Patriot's night at school and looked so cute in it! I worry about fit for her because she is tall and VERY lean, but since I could tie the apron in the back, it ended up being a perfect fit. The fabric was very comfortable for her and seemed to be good quality. I had several people ask if I had made the costume for her. She even asked if it could be her Halloween costume next year. The only thing I would have changed was the bonnet. The ruffles wanted to fall at weird angles and down over her forehead instead of having a nice arch to them as pictured.

I bought a large for my 11yo who is about 58" and 85lbs (package says small 4-6, medium 8-10, and large 12-14). It fits her fine as long as she wears thin clothes under (like a T-shirt/tank with leggings) and doesn't put her arms out in front or bend over (the shoulder width and bodice is a little small so the velcro in the back unfastens). The material is thin and the lace around the collar (as well as sleeves and bonnet) are stiff and scratchy, but it is a costume after all, and is perfect for a one day Revolutionary War project.

The costume was used for a play on the First Fleet arriving in Australia. It suited this time period really well, and the fit was fantastic, true to size with some stretchiness to it which was great.
