Cheap fix for old audio reciever/4K TV
I am using this for my Xbox Series X. The Xbox plugs into the splitter, one cable goes to my 4K TV the other goes to my older audio receiver (tops out at 1080p). Everything works great. I have a 4K picture and I still have 5.1 uncompressed PCM surround sound going to my receiver. The TV recognizes the signal as 4K and the sound is the same as it was before the splitter was installed (in my opinion). I did not use the included cable with this splitter. I used 2 Adoreen 4K HDMI Cable 1.5 feet (one to connect the Xbox to splitter, the other connected to the receiver) and the cable that came with my Xbox to connect to the TV. All of these components are only HDMI 2.0, but my TV is 3 years old, so it does not have a HDMI 2.1 port so I couldn't use the fancy features anyway. In short, it split the signal to supply audio to my older receiver with no degradation that I can hear and the video to my 4K TV at 4K 60hz (audio does come out of the video HDMI as well). I have the switch set to 7.1 even though I only have a 5.1 setup. It does come with (and require) a micro USB plug/charger. The switcher got me 4k video and let me use my current receiver. Cheap and easy solution in my book.

Works perfect with xbox one
I bought this for my complicated home theater setup. I have the first xbox one, I am using a sony x9000f soundbar which has an hdmi arc connection and an old bose av 321 ii with an optical connection. My samsung tv is a little older and does not have an hdmi arc input. At first when I connected this I kept the bose connected to the xbox one optical port and connected the sony soundbar to the hdmi audio/video splitter and still had signal interference and the the splitter got hot from it. So I connected the bose to the optical port on the splitter and it got rid of the interference and now the splitter stays nice and cool, it is very well made. It also rebalances the signals automatically but I still turn on hdmi audio first and then optical to prevent any audio delay. I also have a sonos playbar with digital optical and connect that to the tv optical port. I turn on the xbox first, then the hdmi soundbar, then the digital optical bose, then the tv so prevent any delay between the 3. The splitter also alows me to set the soundbar to 7.1 which it is capable of while still letting the bose be dts 5.1 which is all it can do. To whom it concerns, dolby digital sucks and ruins audio quality with its compression, use DTS or uncompressed surround instead. Before I had the xbox hdmi output into the sony hdmi input and another hdmi cable from the sony hdmi output into the tv hdmi input. I also had the bose connected to the xbox one digital optical port and was using both hdmi and optical audio simultaneously. The problem was I had signal interference between the two, I could manage the audio delay problem by turning on the hdmi audio first and then the optical because hdmi has a digital delay but optical is light speed and does not. Even so interfering signals is not good for speakers and subwoofers. They were getting overpowered because when I would adjust the treble or bass on one it would affect both. Like I said complicated. But it sounds amazing. Very happy with my purchase. Thank you!

Works with TrueHD and DTS-HD in 7.1 mode!!
Final update 7/15/2022 So after watching some movies with True HD and DTS-HD pass through, there has been an issue that comes up almost every time. For some reason, the audio just cuts out and I have to reboot the receiver to stop it from happening. So far only one movie was constantly cutting out and I'm hoping it will be the last. Update 7/4/2022 So today I discovered that this device has the capability of pass through with True HD, and DTS-HD. I found that when I switched the mode to 7.1 it started working! I got the idea to do this while viewing another audio extractor that advertised their 7.1 mode supported Atmos, True HD, and DTS-HD and apparently this one does too they are just not advertising that it does. You just have to make sure your using the hdmi out audio port as optical(spdif) does not pass through the two codecs and will basically compress the audio (more details about this in the previous review.) First review: Before starting my review, I want to preface this by saying this is really only about the audio for this device the video works as it should at least for 4k60 HDR. I purchased this device hoping it would give me true master dts and dolby truehd sound audio through my pioneer vsx-523 as it does not have 4K60 HDR functionality. Seeing the hdmi port with audio only and the reviews that said the two aforementioned audio codecs worked, I impulsively bought this device...boy do I wish I read all of the details within the initial product details which I'll go into detail with right now...that was a lot of details...moving on! First things first: the hdmi audio port has been advertised to support 7.1 dolby atmos audio. This I can neither confirm or deny because my receiver does not support it. Next is the optical out(spdif) which has been advertised to support 5.1 dolby, dts, dolby +, dolby true hd, and dts master audio. Now, right off the bat, hate to break this to you, but spdif does not truly support dolby true hd, and dts master audio because it can't...this is just a fact. The long and short is spdif can only support 6 channels while hdmi has the ability to support 8 channels and those two codecs rely on this. So while it is true, dolby true hd and dts master audio does produce sound from spdif, you are not getting the benefits of the lossless audio that those two codecs provide...just thought that is something you should know. Now before, I found out all this information, there were times during my initial testing with the hdmi audio out that true hd was picking up on my receiver...but it didn't last long and the audio kept going out. The dts audio was not picked up at all. So that is pretty much it, I learned a lot from this ordeal and it looks like I'm just going to have to patiently wait until I can get a new receiver that can do it all....*sigh*

Not the Splitter You're Looking For
Cheaply made; cheaply packaged. Failed to pass 4K HDR from PS5. I tried multiple HDMI cables, including the one supplied with the unit, but that didn't solve the problem. Instructions are printed on a tiny foldout leaflet, but most of it hard to comprehend and some are downright wrong. For example, It instructs you to slide the audio output mode switch to the "PASS" setting if you're having trouble passing audio. Except there is no "PASS" setting on the switch, only 2.1, 5.1 and 7.1. The instructions also point to a ARC switch which doesn't exist. Despite all that, It did pass audio and ARC worked fine. But a Splitter that can't pass 4K HDR signal is clearly not worth the ~$40 I paid for it. I contacted Tech Support 3 days ago. They didn't respond. UPDATE: After I wrote this review, I had a thought. I decided to reach out to the seller through their Amazon portal (as opposed to the Customer Service email printed on their product packaging). This time they responded immediately, apologized for not having received my earlier email, and proceeded to help me troubleshoot the unit. The person I dealt with was Kathy. She was very prompt, supportive, and eager to help resolve the issue. We went through a litany of steps, most of which I had already tried, but nothing help. Ultimately, Kathy offered to replace the unit with an upgraded design (a multi-switch option). I opted for a refund instead. She promptly refunded me. While the switch itself didn't work for me, it's great to see a seller who stands behind their product and is willing to go the extra distance to help their customers. If you do decide to buy this unit, you can be confident that Links3C Technologies will be there to help you if you run into any problems. Just remember to use the Amazon portal to reach out to them.

Works great!
I have a Roku Ultra going to this splitter. It sends picture at 4K (and audio) to my TV, and audio only to my sound system, even though my sound system is not 4K compliant. Other splitters would down-grade the signal to the lowest common denominator, so if my sound system could only do 1080p, then all outputs would be 1080p. If I take the splitter out of the line & put the Ultra straight into the sound system and then to the TV, it won't go to 4K. I'm very impressed. Works great and at a very good price point.

Doesn't support ARC connection
I researched HDMI audio splitters for HOURS, looking for a product that would split audio from an ARC return channel, and send it to more than one output (in my case, I need the audio to be present on HDMI out and SPDIF optical out). There are very few products which support ARC return connections, and even fewer which also split the audio to multiple ACTIVE outputs (most only send audio to one output of your choosing). This item's description and answers to questions claims to provide this capability. Unfortunately, it does not work. When I contacted their technical support, they said I needed a different product. I will try the product they have recommended. I am returning this product. In the product's defense, it DOES split audio out successfully when not using an ARC return connection. It DOES send audio to both HDMI out and SPDIF out. So the product does work in the general sense. It just doesn't do what I need it to do. The product description needs to be corrected. On a related note, the manufacturer claims their technical support is available 24x7. What this actually means is that you can SEND an email 24x7, but they will respond during China working hours. Since I am in the US, this means a maximum of one interaction in a 24 hour period. Very frustratingly slow.

I was skeptical, but it works great
I have an 11 year old surround sound system that won't pass through anything beyond DVD video. So for Blu-Ray and PS5 gaming I was limited to TV audio. Looked at the price for a new sound system, ouch. Found this audio extractor and thought it sounded too good to be true, there is no way at the very least that it would not add a noticeable lag when gaming or sound/audio to get out of sync. Works perfectly for games and for watching movies. Full surround sound with HD video without the expense of a new surround sound system

Ok, but does not support everything it claims.
Good: The device works and has no trouble pulling 7.1 PCM out of the HDMI signal and sending it to another device. I had no problems at all in this regard. It is also cheap compared to the other options out there. Bad: They claim "HDMI sound extractor support resolution up to 4K@60hz, HDR 10, HDCP2.2, RGB 8:8:8, and Dobly 7.1 Atoms/Plus D audio. Deep Color to 36bit, Max Bandwidth of 18.5Gbps/600MHZ". This does not seem to be accurate at all. I could only get 10 Gbps from this device even after checking all cables in my setup (which are all rated for 18Gbps or better). What does this mean? RGB 8:8:8 at 4K60Hz was not possible from this unit. Only YCbCr 4:2:0 at 4K60Hz is. If this was used only for playing back video, this may be ok, but using for PC display, this gives a very noticeable reduction in quality. RGB 8:8:8 at 4K30Hz works fine, so if this is all you need, this may work well for you. TL;DR: 4K30Hz at 4:4:4 works, 4K60Hz at 4:4:4 does not, so buyer beware.

Sound is very clear!
This product does its job very well, the audio is perfectly clear and goes pretty loud compared to other products I have tried. I personally used this for my Firestick as I have a monitor with no in-built audio and this solved that problem perfectly. The setup was also very easy to follow and took me no time. Overall I highly recommend this product as the price is very reasonable and it's probably the best value for money you will find in this category of products.

Doesn’t work
Once again disappointed with a splitter that talks the talk but just doesn’t work. Picture and sound consistently drop out about every 10 seconds. Will be sending this back.
