Great alternatve to white sugar. Taste best when used in cooking.
Jaggery is a great sugar alternative to white and brown sugar. It’s often made from an unrefined sugar cane or date palm in some countries, which is a healthier option as it’s more nutritious and may also contain small amounts of some vitamins and minerals. Other unrefined sugars are maple syrup, honey, date sugar, brown rice syrup, molasses, etc. This jaggery powder from Slurrp Farm comes in a 300gm pouch bag. The bag is not resealable, so I just emptied the content into a container. It’s unprocessed, made free from using Sodium Hydrosulphide, colouring agents, or bleach.Just like any other unrefined sugars, jaggery is also not very sweet as compared to processed white sugar. I find this jaggery powder works best when used in cooking rather than in beverages. I still prefer using sweeteners like Stevia to this in my drinks. I feel like I need to add more to get to the same level of sweetness I get from Stevia, which defeats the purpose of trying to cut down calories in the first place. However, I like to turn this into syrup (just combine this powder with water, simmer and cook slowly until thicken) and drizzle it on cereals, yogurts, or some desserts. Its caramelized flavour adds a nice touch and taste to the food. For £6 (at the time of writing), might not be economical for the price point, but it’s unprocessed and 100% chemical-free, so a healthier choice compared to the cheaper brands.Overall, a good alternative to processed white sugar best used in cooking than in beverages. Easy recommendation.Thank you for reading. Hope you have found it helpful.

better than white sugar
We avoid using white sugar, or even brown sugar as much as we could but I thought I should try this. This sweetener underwent less processing compared to white and brown sugar. So it still retained most of the natural nutrients found in sugarcane. It does not contain the strong flavour in molasses so it is great for baking and other foods that needs sweeteners. This will definitely be in our pantry for baking purposes although I am not advocating too much sugar in our foods, there are times when you need a bit of sweetness, this will be a great choice.

Nice But Too Expensive
I think for what you are getting this is too expensive, it's currently 6.00 for 300g.Taste-wise it's nice, reminiscent of dark muscovado sugar, basically it tastes like an unrefined brown sugar. Nice on porridge.I think it's selling point has to come from the fact that it's produced in a chemical free way and that's what you're paying the extra for. And the fact that it contains iron and other minerals. However, I think the labelling is vague. There is no mention of the actual iron content per 100g that I can see. There is no mention of the source of the jaggery, is it from sugar cane or palm?Overall - tastes nice but too expensive and labelling is not clear enough.

Taste is very good
I made some pancakes with this natural sweetener and the taste was very good, delicious. Usually, I'm using sugar for it and never had so great taste. I'll probably buy some more when I will finish this pack, but the price seems a bit high as I saw the same product on Amazon for the same price, but there was 1kg of this sweetener.

Tastes very nice
It’s a natural and chemical free sweetener which tastes lovely and excellent in cookies or cakes but even in teas. I really enjoy it even in my coffee. It’s a bit pricey though but all the other “alternative” foods are pricey too.I would recommend it to try it.
