Anybody using this with netgear m1?

The antenna connector of netgear m1 router is dual TS9 connector, Color: Dual SMA Connector Antenna + Dual TS9 Cable (B08CRH3KGM), this can work with M1 router. Bye the way,If the location of the signal tower is far away from you, and you can see or determine its location, this directional antenna should give you a good help.

is this directional or omni? the description says both. it looks to be directional as it has one metal side and one plastic side

It is directional, but not as sensitive as a yagi. I found 30 degrees or so did not change the speed or signal. I gained about 20mb/s with this antenna, I am buying another one for my other house.
